@@tomservo56954 Thank you. That means the intermediate generation would've heard him just before SNL aired the first time. In my country we never got Jeopardy. We only got SNL on DVD, packaged as one artist/actor's work on the show as a best of e.g. Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy. We missed out on nearly everything until torrents and RU-vid came along.
Bill had polio in one of his legs and the cameras were careful not to show his noticeable limp. I didn't know this until I attended a live taping of a short lived show Bill hosted called Winning Streak taped at 30 Rock in NYC's NBC studios. Bill was earning $300k a year in 1958 when he hosted TPIR. R.I.P. Bill
