Back in 1973, this would come on as I would be coming home from School at 2:00 P.M. Right after that would be Hollywood's Talking with Geoff Edwards, before Match Game came on CBS. Those were the days!
Nope, this and Most of Music from 1972 until 1976 was not composed by Ed Kalehoff, it was composed by Walt Levinsky who composed for Score Productions, a well-known production company specializing in TV music. Levinsky is credited on a 1976 album of music cues for The Price is Right, which includes much of the show's music that is still heard today such as the showcase showdown and various car cues. One of those cues, a Nashville Brass-style country music piece, became the theme to Family Feud.
Some of the GREATEST music in the world came from "The Price Is Right"! It sure beats Elvis and the Beatles!! They don't even come CLOSE to the music of TPIR!!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
@@joeykardos7602I ABSOLUTELY AGREE & X GETS THE SQUARE!! HAHAHA 😂 ANYWAY I AGREE THEY SHOULD BEING BACK SOME IF NOT ALL THE CLASSIC PRICE IS RIGHT MUSIC CUES BACK!!--TODAY,S MUSIC 🎶 IS NOT (TO ME)FIT FOR THE PRICE IS RIGHT.ALSO WHENEVER CARS OR "SUPER DREAM CARS" ARE SHOWN!!--THEY SHOULD PLAY THE ORIGINAL FAMILY FEUD THEME FROM THE RICHARD DAWSON ERA LIKE THEY DID WHEN BOB BARKER HOSTED PRICE!!--OR BETTER THEN THAT PLAY THE ORIGINAL HOLLYWOOD SQUARES THEME CALLED "BOB & MERRILL,S THEME" (AFTER PRODUCERS MERRILL HEATTER & BOB QUIGLEY) 1969-1979 WHICH I RENAMED "PETER,S THEME" AFTER THE MASTER OF THE SQUARES PETER MARSHALL OR PLAY SQUARES 2ND THEME BY STAN WORTH-1979-81.
I love these old showcase cues. I've had them for some time and played them for people and they say "so what's so special about them...it just repeats over and over". But I think they're neat-o. I also like to watch my DVD set and listen to the different ways they edited them for the show (such as taking out the sythesizer, horns, etc). Thanks for sharing :)
I always an forever watch the Price is Right the Barker era. It's so much better than the Price is Right now. I love everything about the Barker era!! 🎉

I miss Dennis James (God Bless His Soul) and Tom Kennedy I also miss Janice Pennington, Holly Hallstrom, Kathleen Bradley and Chantel Dubay Beck RIP Johnny Olsen and Rod Roddy
Don't forget Anitra Ford. I was a pre-teen when she arrived on the show and it was like *damn!!!* . I couldn't get a night's sleep for weeks. Thank God I am not 12 anymore. Anitra - if you are still alive and you are reading this, I was only human at the time. And I REALLY hate being human! :)
I don't know if there's any statistical truth to this but it seems like whatever showcase got this music, had the better package usually with the car at the end.
During the Rod Roddy era, they played this song in those showcase sketches. Sometimes Rod would be off the desk as an on camera narrator of those sketches. Rod: And this showcase as our girls try to decided for her boyfriend, can be yours if The Price!!! Is!!! Right!!!

There's a good reason why Steve Urkel will never be the next James Bond. Drew Carey doesn't have the charisma to continue the Price Is Right legacy. He is a good host for a comedy show, but PIR is for a smooth charming host and a classic radio-voice type for the intros.
