Sorry if there's a lot of names without faces when going over the teams of the 80s and 90s. I tried to find a way to do it where the video would flow well but alas I was talking too fast. The Invincible Seibu dyansty will indeed get it's own video at some point. It's just an absolutely gargantuan topic and I've already got a lot on my plate.

This team is essentially the equivalent of the Randy Marsh meme, they probably still don't hear no bell.

This brings back some fond memories. I lived on the Seibu Ikebukuro line (between central Tokyo and Tokorozawa) in the late 80s, when the interior of the trains was completely covered in Lions promos and ads, just as their great dynasty was reaching its peak. Akiyama and Kiyohara were like rock stars to their many fans. My favourites were Hisanobu Watanabe, with his gorgeously smooth pitching motion, and Hiromichi Ishige, a slick-fielding third baseman and inspirational on-field leader. Thanks for a great video!

Man nishitetsus old logo game was top tier. A wheel that is also 西? So dope Also Fukuoka is the only place in Japan I've visited, in another world I'd be a lions fan

Nishi is 西 west, tetsu is 鉄道railway Nishitetsu is a short form became 西鉄. If u r fukuoka fan probably should be the hawks fans now. The hawks had done much more to fans in fukuoka than nishitetsu.

I'd say the Lions are generally my favorite Pacific League team. I'll admit to being amused that Leo has been the mascot since 1979 is a factor and those 1980s and 1990s uniforms are nothing short of fabulous, the one thing that cemented it was when Atlanta Braves farmhand Ernesto Mejia signed with them in the 2000s. I loved to follow his progress with them.

Ahhh...my favorite team in NPB. Ever since Daisuke Matsuzaka joined the Red Sox in '07, my heart was won over by Seibu as a little kid and have been a fan ever since and even more so now that I have gotten older and learned about the team and watched them. Here's hoping Kaz Matsui can turn things around and keep the good times rolling at the Seibu Dome. Excellent video as always Gaijin. Can't wait to see the video on Yomiuri.

The Lions sound like the Cardinals of the MLB, just when you think they've fallen off a cliff, they somehow find ways to win

The Seibu Lions claimed that the Nishitetsu Lions who caused the Black mist scandal had nothing to do with the Seibu Lions and said that Nishitetsu Lions OB are not Seibu Lions OB. This infuriated the Nishitetsu Lions OB and they hated the Seibu Lions. During the Seibu Lions dynasty, it was the Kintetsu Buffaloes who tormented Seibu Lions . Kintetsu Buffaloes manager, Akira Ogi, coach, Futoshi Nakanishi and Yazuo Takiuchi were members of the golden age of the Nishitetsu Lions. The battle between the Seibu Lions, who denied the history of the Nishitetsu Lions, and the Kintetsu Buffaloes, led by a Nishitetsu Lions OB, enlivened the Pacific League. In 2004, the Seibu Lions ownership changed, the Seibu Lions made peace with Nishitetsu Lions OB, invited members of the golden age of the Nishitetsu Lines to the Seibu Dome in 2008, and Kazuhisa Inao became a retired number of the team in 2012.

I think the 1990 Lions are the strongest team in NPB all-time.

I don't know if I'm the only American who likes this team but, the only reason why I became a fan of this team was because of Leo the Seibu Tiger! I was formally familiar with him through twitter from furries, and he became popular within the furry community, especially myself! (To put this shortly for those who don't know, furries are a subculture of group of people who enjoys dressing up as anthropomorphic characters of their fursona, and now yall know on why he's popular within the community) Now just watching this video all the way through, it feels kinda depressing to say the very least but, I'm hoping they win the Japanese title of 2023!

I bet you seen a spike in views after the WBC didnt ya? I know I have always LOVED that tournament and look forward to it. I am never ceases to be amazed at how much talent Japan has in Baseball. But what gets me so into it with them is their level of excitement. I just love it!
