the female lead actress is so far the most beautiful Chinese actress I've seen ... she can act, too. whether she smiles, she cries, she laughs, her pretty beautiful face shines ... she has a striking chemistry with the lead actor, the crown prince ... they should appear in another movie or drama again.

Let's blend in and quickly leave the city by wearing normal people clothes looking like men... At the same time they be having a conversation right in front of the Prince and being the only 3 walking in the crowd while everyone else is on the floor bowing...yep really subtle 😂 all 3 holding each other like a train doesn't help either Watched this scene so many times and I'm just astounded by the logic

I'm in the middle of watching this drama even after the repeated warnings of it being a tragedy. Must say this particular one is so beautifully made, has very less of that abnormal flying fighting scenes & the world building & lore were highly impressive unlike any other Chinese drama that I've watched. Also it never tries justifying the bad deeds of the male lead to prove his love for the female lead which is one aspect of this whole plot I liked. His love for her never changed his ambitions from the beginning. However for this very same reason, she also has all the reasons to not want to be with him despite her love for him & hate him for his deed for all eternity, solidifying the tragedy of this story. Truly a great watch regardless of the unhappy ending 😅😅😅

SAD ENDING 💔

this made me wanna rewatch it again but I'm not sure if I'm ready to suffer again. I remember watching it when it was still airing & the pain it caused. I knew what I was getting into so I was all prepared for it but I felt all the pain, angst & anger.. but this one was so tragically beautiful that I don't regret watching it. Edit : after watching this video I ended up rewatcing the last few episodes & now I'm planning to watch the whole damn thing again. I guess I don't hate tragedies as much as I thought I did 🤭

Amazing historical Chinese drama! an absolute emotional rollercoaster of emotions from start to fininsh, and one of the very best if you ask me. No sugar coating the situation, no marysue/garystue nonsense and no silly CGI magic tricks for these characters. The characters are original, engaging and realistic. The dialogue is believable and the storyline holds so much truth to how things really were in the life of the chinese imperial Court. The male lead is believable and convincing, and the female lead(unlike most Chinese dramas) is flawed and prone to making mistakes at times. But she is also very mature and accepting of court the traditions. she is very wise and highly courageous, and takes her roles as princess seriously without trying too hard. She posseses no superpowers, nor martial arts skills, but she is never the less able to stand up for herself, and what she believes in, in an engaging and likeable manner. She fights her wars with words, while possessing an enormous level of inner strength rarely found in any other other heroine whom I've seen in any other K or Cdrama. Let me tell you, if you havent seen it, be prepared to be hearbroken.This drama is hard hitting and not for the faint hearted. If you want marysue characters who cant do no wrong, and who always have to win in every situation, with sunshine and rainbows, and fairly tale endings, then look please elsewhere, because you won't find it here. This drama is addictive and it works hard to show the audience that sometimes happy endings are not always possible, and true to real life, things don't always work out the way want them too. But if your like me, and you want a story based in fact and reality, then this is the drama series for you. Xioafeng is by far, the most likeable fictional herione for me, and she will always hold a special place in my Heart for obvious reasons. Thank you so much to the writers for giving us this masterpiece.

My all time favorite drama ever. Part of me wants to rewatch it but I just can’t take the stress and emotions that comes with it. I cried with the female lead and cursed at the male lead alot when I watched this drama and I know I still will.

The reason why he is so cruel toward her because of he want to protect her from evil people, but it's getting too much..until what's left between them is just hatred, i cried my heart out..he really don't deserve her😭😭
