a few weekends back i was re watching the movie while my D&D group generated new characters at a table behind me when i joined them after the movie had finished i was greeted with four of the players having made their versions of the four main heroes and the entire group wanting to play through the plot of the movie was a D&D adventure. Best Extended Weekend of Dungeons & Dragons Ever!!! All i have to do was tweek the plot to fit the D&D setting we were using and the adventure ran itself.

That sounds awesome Peter Calcutt. Out of interest, do you recall what the player alignments were for the characters? Were the Wesley/Inigo versions played as neutral good or neutral? Cheers.
@MegaPIC1
@MegaPIC1 6 лет назад
Hi beeman2075. all four players had made their characters a little darker alignment wise so as to fit in with the larger group of characters that were being created by the other players i DM. oh and some of the other players brought their characters in to take supporting roles so we had a gnome cleric doing the "Marwage" ceremony and refusing to skip anything. as far as the four main character s are concerned their character names, classes and alignments were as follows. Ashlyn Rivers (Wesley) Human, Ranger, Chaotic good Indigo Mon-Toya Musgrave (Inigo) Half Elf, Rogue, Chaotic Neutral Holly De Rothchild (Fezic) Half Orc, Barbarian, Chaotic Neutral. Winsome Eladeth, (Buttercup) Half High Elf Monk, Chaotic Good If you are planning to follow my group's example i hope you have as much fun as we did. Oh and don't worry if they the party improvise and go a little off course. not only is this half the fun of D&D but in our game it led to to some of the best (Most enjoyable) events in of the weekend.

My husband and I love quoting the movie. Once he said something about my being a witch and I shot back, "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife ! And after what you just said, I'm not sure I want to be that anymore !" We both busted out laughing. I can't wait to show this movie to our daughter when she's old enough

1:40 hit the nail on the head. I wasn't old enough to appreciate the deeper layers of comedy and action when I watched it as a kid. Watching it for the first time again after 12 years I'm astounded at what I missed and how much more in depth the movie actually is. They don't make any movies like this today.

Let us not forget that the humor in The Princess Bride is also timeless. Most of the satire mocks fairy tales, which never go out of style 😊 I remember I used to think Buttercup was so stupid in the movie, but after reading the book the first time, I realized that movie Buttercup was actually SMART compared to book Buttercup 😂😂

The perfect movie that will never age. The sword fight scene on the Cliffs of Insanity is the best in the history of film making. The honor and trust given and received is something that touches my heart and makes me wish that kind of chivalry were alive today.

Farmboy curse. Happened to Mark Hamill, kinda happened to Tom Welling too.
@Dylan_Thomas1
@Dylan_Thomas1 6 лет назад
Mark Hamill didn't become a mega superstar like Tom Cruise for instance, but he still became a big star. Much bigger than the surprisingly less active Cary Elwes. Also, are we sure it's gotta be a curse and not simply that the actors themselves don't like to be huge in that way? Of course, I have no idea how it played out for them. But Mark Hamill has a pretty influential career, at least.
@LanIaFortroSha

Mark just got sick of having 'Luke Skywalker' plastered on everything he did. When he did the stage play for Amadeus (the one they turned the film into with Tom Hulce) all the publicity posters proclaimed: "Starring Luke Skywalker from Star Wars.

Excuse me but how does going from being a Damsel who's only actions were to push who she thought killed her true love down a hill, call her forced fiance a coward and defiantly attempted suicide, to a general, a mentor and down right badass relative of the World's first Female Superhero type casting. If anything your words degrade her. Before she was known as this, her roles prior were Bruce Willis' wife in Unbreakable and a woman who many fans claimed manipulated a mentally handicapped Tom Hanks.

@Oopss7 i think the tweet was speaking more to how the on-screen roles of women has evolved over time. that's something that should be celebrated imo. there's much progress to be realized but at least within our lifetime, we have seen this small evolution.

This movie has everything. Fighting, comedy, romance, scares, the good guy wins, the bad guy doesn’t, and not one bit of it was overacted or overdone. The lines were delivered perfectly, and the nuance was not lost. No film will ever hold a candle to this movie. And, watching Cary Elwes talk about it, and the stories he shares will make you love it even more.

If Hollywood ever makes a remake of The Princess Bride, I'd refuse to watch it. The movie (and book) are perfect as they are. Stardust is a different movie with a different story, however both stories share a couple of similar elements that make Stardust almost a companion film (in my mind) and my go-to movie when I feel like watching a more recent version of The Princess Bride, even though Stardust stands very capably on its own feet. If that makes any kind of sense.

You know, I'm down with this idea. The whole descent in the dungeon to rescue Westley could be fleshed out. We could see some of his time on the pirate ship before he became the Dread Pirate. We could learn more about Fezzik and Inigo. Lets freaking do this!

I think part of the love comes from watching it at a young age and having a similar reaction to Fred Savage's character The first time I watched it was on a scouting weekend. Our scoutmaster put it on and we were all just "Why are we watching a girl's movie" "This movie's old" and complaints like that, but half way through the movie, you couldn't tear us away from the screen. And then as you get older, you get the subtle jokes and makes you fall in love with it even more. A timeless classic and I can't wait to show my nieces and nephews

Robert Goldman seems to feel the need to point this RUMOR out to anyone who finds her attractive. I don't know why he's so obsessed with it. He doesn't know anymore than anyone else. And no, side by side photos don't prove anything since the human face changes with age naturally. People are terrible at facial recognition anyway. Just look at all the idiots who believe every brunette girl to witness a school shooting, looks alike.

Jon... after that speech it's funny to say this that follows lol, so thank you for that: *The actress openly admits about her botox fillings without a problem and even gives tips/tricks on how to have successful operations.* This is fascinating to be honest. You went on a mini-rant defending someone that you don't know and that didn't even needed to be defended. You created a story for her (being unfairly accused) basing it all on feelings and personal fantasies instead of just 2m of google search. ''He doesn't know anymore than anyone else'' that's next level projected fantasy right here. Just why?! Doesn't it feel weird to be a white knight/nice guy?
@jonquist9950
@jonquist9950 6 лет назад
TheDorianTube - After that comment about me being a "White Knight" it's funny to say that this follows... I'm a female. Even if I had been a male, why would that make my opinion any less valid? Not all men are creeps, like you, who would only "defend" a woman if they thought they could get some. It doesn't matter if she had plastic surgery or not, what matters is that he felt the need to point that out on every comment that complimented her beauty. As if that would detract from her beauty, or matter in anyway. Btw, men who use the term "White Knight" are usually incels who are mad that women aren't interest in them.

Any fan should read, or better yet LISTEN to the AUDIBLE of As You Wish by Cary Elwes. It is a fantastic story about the making of this movie and the wonderful people who were a part of it.

Funny stuff. Don't forget a prequel, either. Probably will begin with the Peter Falk character as a young boy, sick with the flu, with HIS father reading to him. We will also learn of previous Dread Pirates Robert, how Buttercup met and became engaged to Humperdinck, the circumstances by which Rugen killed Domingo Montoya (thus sending Inigo on a life-long quest for revenge), and how Fezzik's parents made him fight competitively from a young age. Oh, and Miracle Max will be a young, handsome man. But he'll just be Max. The miracles came later.

therealchickentender No. I would not approve of that. Let this movie stand. As is. RIP Andre and Peter.

A fairy tail that does not a Disney stamp on it. Timeless I still watch it if I'm flipping through the channels and I see its on

I fell in love with Westley, but I forgot he is so old now! Damnn just why did I have to fall for him now! Wish I was born earlier now 😅! But still love Westley and Cary!

Cary Elwes was one of my crushes. I use to imagine Westley saying, "As you wish." to me...swoon.
