@@taylorseay3696 Mine, too! I f'n love her! What I meant was that she doesn't have a name because she's just symbolic of princess-y behavior, basically The Princess of all princesses. She's symbolic of the rampant, unchecked materialism of the '80s, so enamored of diamonds that she's willing to destroy the whole universe for the biggest one.
I was disappointed when I found out her official name is just the Princess I was disappointed. Back then it was a bad trend to just give villains generic names. Or give characters odd names like “spike” “chip”
I saw this movie in the theater and it made SUCH an impression on me. Mom recorded it off of HBO and that was the only recording of the movie I had for many years! The Dark Princess is everything as a villain and the movie itself is surprisingly good, it actually has a plot and very good voice acting. I snagged it off Amazon when it was on DVD years ago but the last I saw it was out of print! It's worth owning, if anyone comes across it!

@@fmthebaron it didn’t die…it was destroyed as she threw it into the furnace to fuel the ship. So yes it was completely gone. No point in keeping it if you aim to kill the universe once you smash the planet holding all life
Honestly I think she did die… that was a explosion and the next scene shows the whole ship was reduced to sparkling dust. But she does appear alive again. This suggests she probably took an escape pod and just was powerless

"If that tin horse doesn't give himself up, his little friends get thrown off my balcony!" She has some great dialogue in this movie. We need more badass female villains like The Dark Princess. Concept art of this movie had her as an older woman, which, I think, added some tragedy to her character. Very Cruella De Vil looking.
I can't imagine seeing that Queen if any Japanese studio do a perfect remake from that franchise. I always see that movie (I only new Rainbow brite by that movie when I was a child) as a maho shoujo series.

I just add this to my collection on my phone hd they modeled these people so well after the actresses and actors the one who did the princesses voice did amazing......GET OFF THE BED 😂🤣 love how she runs to the jewel as well my fave childhood movie way better animation then today's!!!!!
The Dark Princess is my favorite villain in the Rainbow Bright movie and in the episode Queen of the Sprites she reminds me of Verruca Salt from Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory always wanting everything her way 👍❤️

Evil Princess reminds me of one of my most hated babysitters that was just plain mean and cruel to us, that I hated my parents for allowing her to be in charge of us and did my best to stay away from her.
Why did 80s cartoons all have these pretty hot and borderline age-inappropriate villainesses appearing in cutesy wutesy shows? Also thought of Shrieky from Care Bears.
And in my version of Rainbow Brite Brian would also have a son named Chris this is a different version mind you Chris is an older twin brother of Betty and together they have the robotic horses Chris has On-X and Betty has her robotic horse named Galla Belle and together they help Rainbow and her friends in Rainbow Land!
She's called the dark princess there were some versions of her though and oh boy she can be such a snob! Yikes I wonder if I can make my own version of Rainbow Brite in my version Brian has a daughter she is called Betty and in the cartoon Rainbow Brite and Stormy and Moonglow and the rest of the color kids became adults and the dark princess would become the queen of darkness and she would have a son called Prince Shadebuster and just like his mother before him he wanted to make Rainbow Land just as dark and gloomy as the pits and the color spray including twink would have their own Powers too But in my version twink would be called twinxy which is a nickname for him and he would sell manly in fact he was sound like a teenager who was more like a soldier in training in some way and the pink Sprite called Twilight who is owned by Tickled Pink would sound like Pinkie Pie you know what I mean? And her horse sunriser what have the same voice as Katara from Avatar The last Airbender and Moonglow's Friends nite Sprite would sound like Spike from My Little pony friendship is magic and Moonglow's horse Shimmer would sound just like Princess Celestia from My Little pony oh and night Sprite would have a twin sister Luna who would sound like Fluttershy and Stormy who was in charge of the weather has a sprite too she would be called Litening and she would have the same voice as Buttercup from the new version of The Powerpuff girls and Skydancer stormy's horse would it be voiced by Dante basco and of course Starlite would have the exact same voice as Kevin Michael Richardson only it would sound like a wise man except he is a horse which she calls himself the most magnificent horse in the universe so Rainbow Moon Glow Stormy Tickled Pink and the rest of the color kids that are grown up now or still in charge of Rainbow Land and with the help of Betty the daughter of Brian they would do whatever it takes to protect rainbowland and everyone in the whole universe!
As a boy I thought what every boy did about both the cartoon and movie rainbow brite. But as a man that needs an occasional dose of nostalgia to keep his sanity I realize that it'll never be something I'd watch in it's entirety but it is pretty cute and kind of entertaining.
For me as a girl this was the closest I could get to watching interesting female characters that weren’t damsels in distress. Or is a side character who is dazzling beautiful and mainly the love interest of the hero. Yes rainbow brite is cute looking but she’s a strong active leader. Hard to find in old cartoons, it’s nice to have variety of female characters. Plus it had good storytelling and did feature in the first movie “scary” monsters but not graphic like a horror film
