I prefer to call the princesses plot victims because everything was for twilight to have the confidence to take the throne with her friends. If the princesses just keep on stomping in the villains, the story will be very boring.
@@mrWilliams08 Yeh she did. But after rewatching that scene, Celestia & Luna lost cuz some magical object absorbed all their magic. Still, getting outplayed by a filly is crazy ngl☠️
@@rovanajean9550 As a ruler yes, Celestia is great, but as a protector not so much, since after Luna was banished, ponies were plagued by nightmares and apparently nothing happened in 1000 years of her reign alone.
What’s worse is that Cadance actually did step in and tried something but still failed nonetheless. Only she and Twilight actually care to try something. It’s just that Mrs. Crystal Heart always gets retconned.
I suppose that they couldn’t have them resolve the conflict of the movie too quickly so they had to push them to the side and let the Mane 6 do everything instead since they’re the main characters and embody the omnipotent force known as The Magic of Friendship which can solve every problem and defeat any adversary. Discord himself didn’t even appear in the movie because they also can’t have him easily resolve the conflict with his reality warping either. I also bet that’s why Starlight couldn’t do anything but be a background character since she’s also OP.
You forgot to mention the princess's defeat in the movie. They literally got turned to stone and got their asses kicked by a unicorn with a broken horn. How sad is that.
I’d argue Twilight was just as useless as the other princesses in that situation. She just stood there and did nothing. She could have teleported the orbs away from them or something but nope. At least Cadance tried defending herself with a magic shield and Celestia tried to tell Luna to go to the Hippogriffs.
@@murderman7265 If I remember well, Cadance didn't try to protect herself but Celestia instead. Either way, she was more useful than the other princesses!
uuuum, that unicorn with a broken horn was also very strong, broken horn don't mean you aint strong, and they used a very powerful magical item, alicorn or not, i'd find it hard to counter powerful magical items
fun fact: in the comics, Celestia says that she could've easily beat these ponies ass, but wanted Twilight to learn to do it herself edit: guys, shut the fuck up, i'm just saying something that happens in the comics. if you believe its canon is on you, thats kinda what the comics are.
@@hellistheunderworld agreed Besides I have a explanation Over time she wanted someone to step in since she was thinking about it for a long while Perhaps after season 3
kid this is like saying "Goku can easily win a fight against Frost. but he was holding back and let him win.". if Celestia actually did try to fight. I would believe her. but how much she loses 80% of the battles. hard to believe she's actually powerful. and all princesses are trying WAY to hard to get Twilight to take over as princess. I at lest understand Cadence because she's still a new born alicorn. so it makes sense she's not as powerful as the other two and why she end up losing a fight with Sombra. but she's also into the idea of a pony that can be unstable at any moment. is a great idea to make someone like that as princess of half of the planet. SHE should've known better because she used to babysit Twilight.
Ok, but to be fair to Luna, she actually wanted to go to help deal with Sombra, but Celestia shot her down and kind of overruled her on the matter. I mean, you can see from her expressions how unhappy she was with Celestia's boneheaded decision here, so I don't think she is to blame as much as Celestia in this instance. Also, when it comes to the finale, yes, Cozy Glow may be a child, but she is a child juiced up on a whole bunch of Grogar's magic. Also, she kind of just cheated by using Grogar's bell to take the Princesses magic. Even Discord get's folded by that bell, so that isn't very fair to them.
@@wardenofall agreed and hear it from the mare herself RH!Cozy: she could have easily DODGED and won Heck we were the most worried about her So thats why we got her first
But I still think the princesses are stupid. Like, she is holding the bell, that you know can suck magic, yet you still use your power move on her. Like are they stupid?? 💀 why would they think of a plan to take the bell away from her before using your super move to shoot her
@@Vanillie261I get your point, but that’s how TV goes. The writers gotta have the characters do some stupid thing that allows the story and plot to go on
@@saintzeroinfinity Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. Currently the only alicorns are a pseudo one through transformation and a power hungry, racist tyrant. Any born alicorn can’t be trusted with political power until proven otherwise
Don't credit them for turning the legion of doom to stone. If you pay attention to the process of them being turned into stone, you see it was actually discord's lightning that turned them to stone. Celestia and luna just destroyed the cupcake
And he doesn't get any praise for basically destroying the vilains within a single blow ? Sometimes I thinks nopony (except Fluttershy) appreciate this man to his fair value
@@MrVectorMV At 3:03 through 3:10 the average pony weighs 300 lb and the average pony height is 3 ft 6 so Celestia's actual weight is possibly 546 lb at the very least. (falling metal cylinder sound effect (at 50% max volume)) 😅😅😅😅😅😅
1. Nightmare Moon trapped Celestia when she came back, that's why she only showed up once Luna was back. She knew to do this since Celestia snapped her ass to the moon the first time around, and did it before Celestia could grab the elements to do it again. 2. Discord knew to take the elements away because he underestimated them before, and they bound to the Mane Six meaning Celestia couldn't do shit. 3. The MILF Bug feeds on love, and got so über-powered by the amount she absorbed from Shining Himbo and the _literal Princess of Love_ that she became strong enough to knock Celestia on her ass. Both Celestia and even _Chrysalis_ are shocked by this happening, because Chrysalis on any normal day would get her absolute shit wrecked by Celestia. I'm pretty sure that the only reason her and the other Changelings look like Swiss Cheese is because Celestia burned holes into Chrysalis so hard, it literally got passed on to her children's children. Like, canonically. Luna works from the hour the sun goes down to the hour it goes up, has to raise the moon and keep track of (and manage) the dreams of literally every pony in Equestria through the entire night. Whenever she sleeps she tortures herself for becoming Nightmare Moon. That mare isn't waking up if you launch a canon next to her head, and quite frankly she deserves the sleep. 4. Celestia at this point probably agrees with you on the "We could slap his cheeks" point, which _is precisely why_ she sends Twilight. Her thought process was probably "Twilight needs to learn, so I'll send her. If she can't do it, Cadence and Shining are there. If _they_ can't do it for some reason, me and sis can just blast his ass back into smoke for another thousand years". Luna just goes along with Celestia, since she's the ruler of higher standing. 5. The only things Celestia has access to that can stop Tirek once he absorbs enough energy, especially the magic of the Princesses, are Discord and the literal "I WIN" button that are the Elements of Harmony. Discord at this point seemed to be on their side, and if he wasn't a fucking idiot (and if Tirek hadn't maxed out his Charisma) he'd have defeated Tirek with a literal snap of his fingers. Once that didn't work out, of course Celestia doesn't go after him herself - that's the entire reason why they give their magic to Twiggles instead. Tirek becomes near-unbeatable with enough magic, and Discord can already only be beaten via magic absorbing (which at this point only Tirek has) or the Elements. Like, what would the plan here be? Go out, try and fight him? At that point they'd just get absorbed anyway, making him even more of a threat. 6. That's...actually not a bad point. I guess in these timelines the villains just learned from their mistakes? Nightmare Moon just went on after imprisoning Celestia, like in episode 1. Chrysalis did the same scheme but just killed Celestia instead of knocking her out, again with Cadence's love. Tirek absorbed their magic, as there was no one to beat them. Discord felt like winning and snapped the elements away like in his normal episode, with no one to find them again. Sombra was left alone too long, managed to amass an army and embroiled Celestia in WW2. The wasteland is just Fallout Equestria. 7. Yeah that's fair. Chrysalis managing to capture every princess is kinda fucking stupid. Hell, Chrysalis doing that instead of _killing them_ is kinda fucking stupid. 8. Straight up Magic Venom, ain't no pone beating that shit. The old Elements literally rather sent themselves to oblivion than fighting that thing and I don't blame them. 9. Quite literally no one saw that coming. The kid basically operated Grogar's Bell with wifi from a random basement. 10. The vines were going to spread across the entire country, possibly further, if not stopped. We see how hard they are to get rid of. The gang were successful in defeating Sombrerror last time, no reason not to send them there again and keep the most important village in the entire country from getting Japanese Tentacle'd. 11. The 12 year old had Grogar's Bell. Fucking _Discord_ gets his magic stolen by that thing and becomes useless. Magic absorption (along with Discord's magic and the Elements of Harmony) is something that no character in the whole-ass show can resist.
Correction: Celestia planned to lose to Chrysalis in S2. In the comics (yes the comics are canon) Celestia could've defeated a lot of the villains easily but she decided to let Twilight handle it herself so she can learn, she is a teacher after all. This also includes Tirek.
@@icedemon8419the comics are not completely canon, cause some stuff in there are definitely different from the show. But the point with Celestia still sounds reasonable.
School Raze is funnier when you realize that the plot requires the sun and moon moving normally so Celestia and Luna still had their magic and just decided to stay out of it.
@@seantaggart7382Not to mention that she’s the only princess in the series that actually cares and tries besides Twilight. Unfortunately, the writers retcon her for main character plot holes.
I like how they explained “Celestia could easy beat villain ass but but she doesn’t because she wanted Twilight to learn to do it herself” in the comics but NOT in the show and since they NEVER outright say this we all just kinda assumed Celestia and Luna can get captured easily from Chrissy to Tirek and I don’t know how many times this happens in the comics cause I don’t read them but it has to be A LOT right 😂
i think Celestia can't defeat Chrysalis, the latter tried twice and uhm... won twice 😭 the first time yeah because Chrysalis used the power of love, which ofc Celestia can't defeat, that's literally the point of the show xD second time I don't even know what happened 😭 plot victim is strong here
like when king sombra took over the crystal empire. i mean what is ssssoooooo damn important for celestia not bother to help cadence and the mane 6?? abosulte nothing, exactly.
@@AuditorMadness Season 4s two parter opener "Princess Twilight". Celestia and Luna get kidnapped because seeds that were secretly planted by Discord way back when they first fought him finally grew and kidnapped both of them, taking them into the forest and imprisoning them with the tree of harmony. They both got folded, Celestia and Luna, by weeds shown to be defeated by magic.
@@ghostslayer1981 if I remember properly, he did not even do it in secret. Discord plants the seeds in front of celestia and Luna and they don't even bother figuring out what they were.
I'm pretty sure the show implies in the "Royal Problem" episode that Celestia actually tremendously holds back her power 90% of the time out of fear of turning into Daybreaker ( who is stronger than Nightmare Moon, capable of literally turning herself into a living sun and incinerating all of Equestria). She could have pretty easily defeated Chrysalis, King Sombra and Tirek (in his middle stage form) if she went full Daybreaker mode on them but she obviously isn't going to do that. There is also the fact that she wants Twilight and her friends to be independent and strong heroines. If she did everything for them then they would just rely on them and not learn anything.
What about the other timelines where twilight didn't become celestias student and they lost in everyone that Twilight visited. Not once did it even have daybreaker or them winning in some way.
@@bunnyconcubus8468 because daybreaker is a fucking villain too 💀 even if she did go daybreaker mode she’d still be losing technically because she’d be the new villain
@@idk-yi9edNot even headcanon. Its implied when Daybreaker said "Deep inside you know how powerful you are, you don't need Luna". According to Daybreaker, Celestia has yet to embrace her FULL capacity.
I actually somewhat object to the Chrysalis defeat. Chrysalis even said herself that came from feeding on shining's love. Someone get this man checked out if his love for his wife is enough to beat god that needs to be studied.
Yeah, he canonically pretended to be defeated by sombra to make twilight more confident Also the only times he has been defeated were when he underestimated his opponent and got caught off-guard
Ok but luna did do alot more then celestia , when Luna got banished apparently in the comics celestia left to go universe hop , leaving equestria in a pleague , , Luna wanted to fight sombra when celestia wouldn’t let her ,also in the movie she’s the one who saved twilight from the stone, Luna could have flew off like CELESTIA said but she pushed twilight out of the way .
My theory is that Celestia is a really good actor. Remember that episode where she tries acting and is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE? I think she was faking it. Somepony who has been a leader and public speaker for that long would never be that bad at acting. This is integral to my theory. Most of the villains are paid actors and all dangerous situations are controlled all for training purposes. Celestia is ensuring loyalty without fault by testing Twilight to the fullest extent. Her being so egregiously bad at acting is to help cement the facade because she is always acting. This theory is even further evidenced by how she casually turns the pawns she has used into stone at the end of the series and also explains why she defeated all these villains so easily in her past. She can and does hold the power to do as she pleases but chooses to allow these villains a chance to be free while knowing she can take it away if her student fails. Or we can take the real boring alternative theory. Writing convenience.
I just have a (weak) headcanon that Celestia and Luna vs all the villains are like Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson. A strong legend past his prime vs a young juiced to the max freak. I know it doesn't make much sense if u dig barely but it's the only way I can still respect them. They've been fraud checked more then random overhyped Dagestanis in the UFC
I think that the Princesses were just sidelined for the earlier seasons because "WE NEED THE MAIN CHARACTERS TO CARRY AND EVERYONE ELSE TO SUCK OTHERWISE THE STORY IS BORING" until later on it became a meme and it's just kinda become part of their character to really suck at doing anything. The biggest acknowledgements of this come in The Beginning of the End and Between Dark and Dawn.
Tbh cadence and Luna could clear all if they wanted to or had time and rnergz. Like Luna had to deal whit all those dreams so she sleeps at day and cadence has a child and kingdom to take care of while celestia is there smiling her ass of with some first graders.
Fr Candace and Luna actually did things , also Luna literally SAVED twilight in the movie , and cadence escaped a kidnapping and saved her husband and equestria ,
Especially in Twilight's Kingdom (Discord's betrayal was actually really out-of-character, but I guess they had to give him character development, and needed a plot device) Celestia decided that she'd put all her, her sister's, and her adopted niece's magic into a literal college kid with the excuse of "Well, he doesn't know you exist, BUT, there is literal imagery of you plastered around the kingdom, and if he finds out, we're all royally f_cked! Run along now! By the way, you can't bring your friends, good luck lol!" The thing is, Celestia and Luna are literally goddesses, and Cadence is an up and coming goddess, while Twilight is the newest alicorn and equivalent to a really talented twenty-year-old. They can handle their own magic better than she can, and ALL of this was hinged on "Oh, he MIGHT not know you exist, and he MIGHT not find out you exist, and if he does, you MIGHT be able to put a fight while we put our trust in a lunatic and make ourselves completely useless!" Look, I love Celestia and Luna as much as the next guy, but how tf-
I feel like that adds to it. I wouldn’t call the Princesses “Frauds” but the way I see it, Celestia knows that she can defeat the threats but rather has the Mane 6 do it to find it within themselves to defeat them because she knows they’re time has come. I always appreciated stories where the protagonist/next in line seek guidance from an all powerful figure but then when they have to defeat a great evil it kinda gives the protagonist a moment to shine rather than taking the easy way out. It really helps build tension/drama and makes the protagonist’s more likeable and/or relatable.
Finally someone calls them out. It also makes you go hmmm I wonder why so many of Celestia's ex-pupils come back as villains. Maybe shes a shitty Princess AND a shitty teacher.
i feel like what would help is us getting a spinoff of what equestria was like before twilight while luna and celestia began to come to rule. Then we could actually see the feats they claim to have
To everyone still defending celestia and luna bro, the cutie re-mark liturally proved how the rulers of Equestria, the most POWERFUL protectors of the realm, is powerless to defeat the villians without Twilight😭😭
Bro I will forever still blame celestia ; if you read the comics you’ll understand cause Luna orginally wanted to fight sombra , and celestia said no, that happend a lot in the comics where Luna wanted to fight. Also Luna saved twilight in the movies , sure it was ONE time but when has celestia ever saved twilight??? Celestia is the root issue here 💀
You should make a video about the Wonderbolt academy, because they are basically the military of Equestria yet they don’t do shit, accept destroying the economy system by destroying rain clouds that they need for agriculture.
Damm they trash 😂 i read one comment about them going up a unstoppable force become celestia told them to go stop the threat and someone said ah classic celestia like bro 💀
It’s always been one part of the show thats bugged me, especially since they hyped up so much to be the most “powerful”. I get they do it for the plot but my god it’s handled terribly 😭 The biggest victim be discord, but he’s mostly a gag character at times so it’s sort of excusable. Anyway the video was entertaining asf and keep doing what you doing bro 🗣️💯🔥
Celestia was training twilight and twi needed to be the mc so I wouldn’t be surprised all celestia and luna’s pathetic moments they were just pretending for plot sake
Pony: *This is agent 101. I found the princesses. Fraudlestia and Folda. They've done a good job blending into a crowd to try and avoid us. But they slipped up and ik where they hiding at. At the Enchanted apartments in Vanhoover on the 14th floor in room 16. Your clear to go in for the arrest.*
I can't believe equestria has 3 powerful alicorn and they just sit on throne all day doing nothing instead of defending they're cities/countries/towns/states,etc
Starlight actually had feats! Impressive feats too. She banished Discord, switched the cutie marks of those fraudsters, created alternate timelines, and held her own against Chrysalis. She is more deserving of being an alicorn, and a monarch.
The fact celestia is my favorite 😭 but shes like a useless Princess, sometimes, she couldve Helped Cadence whenever she needed💀 But nooo, she was to lazy. and while luna on the other hand playing call of duty in her bedroom
nah it wasn't even the princesses that turned them to stone they just destroyed a cupcake and let's be real pinkie could fr just have done that discord did all the work and celestia just wanted more cake for that damn cake stash
TBH I have never watched the show before and seeing how the most powerful and popular characters of the show get destroyed of every threat just goes to show that they are just there to be princessess like my friend who is trash at Roblox could spawn in his Roblox character avatar and take them out.
at that point, i'm starting to think that they only command them, not move them by themselves, that or these are actualy tiny and no air resistance makes it really easy.
NO CAUSE ATLEAST LUNA TRIEDD. Like in the movie twilight would have been stone if it wasn’t for Luna , BUT CELESTIA AINT GOT NO EXCUSE, she universe hopped, trained by star swirl,AND did both sun and moon. Yet still got defeated by nightmare moon IN THE 1ST EPISODE.
You forgot the nost egregious one of all! In the movie, a pony hailing from a hostile enemy bordering nation crossed hundreds of miles in a slow moving zeppelin somehow without raising any alarm, despite being incredibly unsubtle, to the very capital of the country, and within minutes captured Celestia Luna and Cadance with a few magic orbs and some martial arts! A single enemy airship conquered the nation of Equestria in minutes without even firing a shot! This one act proves by itself that not only are the Princesses themselves frauds, but the entire Equestrian military and defense system is a comple and utter joke!
I wish there was a good explanation for why celestia made twilight do all her dirty work. They could’ve just explained that she’s washed and hasn’t had a real challenge for years because of princess duties
Okay, when he said ‘Where was Luna all this time?’ I literally said ‘it is canon that now she sleeps during the day so she has energy to watch over the night and switches with Celestia at dawn’ out LOUD; My mom is so confused XD
Now I’m wondering, if they were so competent in the past, why did they become incompetent? Did they lose their fighting skills because there was a thousand years of peace after Luna’s banishment? Do the Elements of Harmony harvest the brain cells of nearby ponies that aren’t the users’ in order to function? Also you forgot to mention Cel and Lun were defeated by CLOUDS in The Crystalling
(I wanna keep going but I don’t wanna lose the heart) ALSO, remember what happened in A Royal Problem? Both were really incompetent, although they were doing things they weren’t used to so it’s not that bad Also I wanna point out some rare W’s: When Celestia stopped the plush riot in Lesson Zero Mentioned in another comment, Luna actually wanted to help stop Sombra but Celestia shot her down Luna in “Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?”. Just her in that entire episode in general. Celestia in School Daze wasn’t completely useless Cadance in the movie actually tried to do something against Tempest, even though she also failed. Luna tried running away to get the hippogriffs but failed, while Celestia got decked in half a second
The princesses are also the characters that the fanbase loves to refer to as “gods” by the way. I understand why they would be referred to as gods since they’re alicorns and alicorns are the most powerful ponies, the fact that they’re royalty, possess magic powerful enough to manipulate celestial bodies, can live for thousands of years, and how the other characters like to use Celestia’s name as a expression (“For Celestia’s Sake!” for example) but considering how much they get thrown to the side, don’t do much, and become victims to the adversary sometimes in the actual show…it makes the whole “god” thing feel like an exaggeration and debatable. Another thing, has there been any sort of power scaling tier list for the MLP cast yet? I’m really curious about it. I’m interested in hearing a discussion on who’s the most powerful character in the show. That needs a video.
whats funny is they are only prinesses bc they can raise the sun and moon and bc theyre alicorns. i dont think theres any evidence they ever proved they were actually capable of being princesses.
watching a 15 minute diss track on celestia and luna with hardcore tano*c in the background was something i never knew would be so perfectly up my alley
are we going to ignore the fact that these idiots were taken out of the season 4 premiere by some spikey vines? yknow celestia is fair, she probably walking back to bed, but Luna? when they are established later to be able to have visions BY THE SAME SEASON (IE Tirek) and Luna stays awake all night watching over dreams? how is Luna going to fail to deal WITH VINES
@@lilastormsend4537 Humans are supposed to be awake during the day, but if a human was to stay up all night, they're likely to sleep through the day or or at least be drowsy, in which case if that human's a football player, they can be the best in the world, but they won't be winning any games on 0 sleep.
@@daring6983 true. though my point was that in the episode where celestia and luna trade places, its established luna sleeps in the day aand is awake at night. as someone trapped in the graveyard shifts, one can adapt to this, and i mainly say if she has also adapted this way, luna did still get taken out of the picture by vines during her 'day' you arent wrong though, a football player on a diurnal schedule isnt winning a game after pulling an all nighter.

I mean the princesses are very strong and they probably are strong enough to actually deal with these threats but they want Twilight and her friends to do it because they don't want them to rely on her. But come on, you can do way better than just basically getting folded the entire series. I mean I know they're just definitely plot victims because the writers want to make the story more interesting. But come on, how you going to be the ruler of a entire pony Kingdom and not be able to at least help with holding off a villain or beating them. All that cake probably made her too fat to fight well
There's no way there isn't a curse of some kind, where you get extremely nerfed if you become a ruler of Equestria. If you consider G5 as in the same timeline, then Twilight lost to literally the same thing Chrysalis did, except this time she was the ruler
