Now this is exactly the sort of spice I've been looking for. My first modern deck was Enduring Ideal, and I've been looking for a way to make it work in EDH for ages--can't wait to playtest this :)
I'm surprised they there's not more decks based around enduring ideal. I'm working on one that's focused on getting my opponents to take out eachother with derevi as the commander and completely bypassing the restriction of not casting anything.
I know, right? I love Enduring Ideal so I was super psyched that I was able to build a deck around it. Derevi is definitely a great way to go about it since you can bypassing the no cast clause of epic with Derevi's activated ability. Nice tech!
Thanks! Glad you liked it! I still have some deck tech videos in queue post Kaldheim and pre Strixhaven so let's see if I can squeeze some new ones in there. But Urza's definitely a powerful commander that I might want to try and build around. No promises, though!
Hey man so I've been watching your content a little bit I haven't subscribed a totally will after today my apologies, but this deck and your five color orvar deck are literally insane I can't wait to build my variations of each as a serial five color deck builder I was a little stumped as to what to use the bridge for and I definitely didn't want to go combo allies with tiziri I just had to say something. Both of these were just so dope and I love orvar I thought to myself man what if he had red, man what if he had green, so it's perfect I'm brewing right now cheers brother!
Thanks! Glad they were helpful - that was the goal :) Yeah, these ideas just came to me out of the blue so I figured I would try to develop them out and the decks came out good enough to warrant making a video about them :P
Oof!! If it were possible to cast a sorcery from an enchantment you can bet it would've definitely made it! I do have an all permanents deck somewhere within all the deck techs I've posted. It's my Brago, King Eternal deck that focuses on abusing the manifest ability when you blink a face-down permanent. You can see it here, if you're interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dDjm5A0UdRs.html The list is a bit outdated since I haven't had the time to update it (I do have this deck in real life). But when I have the time to get around it I will. Updating my decklists one of my pending projects at the moment. I'm considering Moxfield for that, though.
How competitive would you consider this deck? We play casually but have some semi competitive decks played. Mostly combos decks alot of the time. Also, I didn't really understand how this decks functions if enduring ideal is either countered or dealt with any way. It seems like its really heavily reliant on that combo. Maybe I'm just an idiot lol Decks like this are way out side my comfort zone which is why I love the idea, but it makes me lack understanding haha
This deck is nowhere near competitive. It's optimized at best. If Enduring Ideal gets countered then it doesn't resolve so the epic clause never happens, either. You're not locked out of casting spells. The deck isn't that reliant on Enduring Ideal since the enchantments are still great and you can still play them the hard way. Enduring Ideal just really sets you up for greatness. Epicness, even :P
@@AnputVT Because the sphinx is a creature. You might cheat that in instead of the demon or Tezzeret. Although, if you do reveal the sphinx instead, then your postcombat main phase becomes a second beginning phase instead and then you might get the demon or Tezzeret anyways... Good point!
@@TheCommanderTavern Yup thats my point as you also just get a free untap all your lands and draw a card with it too. I feel like the sphinx should be in every esika deck. It is a free flip and does not add to creature count in these kind of gimmick decks, just gives you a free mana doubler and esika trigger every turn basically and you still get your second main phase after the extra upkeep too. The only sole downside is if someone kills it when youre trying to move phases.
