The main problem I have with it, is that lower than max graphics makes a lot of creatures look worse than they did in the original at even lower settings.
ok you never played the original on lower setting, even the Pteranodon fly on 3 frame per sec and some didn't even have animation. Every gameplay you see are on full ultra because even on high setting my eyes bleed and I spent my childhood playing on gameboy so I know when something is graphically wrong
@@burninggamm2624 I played the original on the lowest settings at first because my computer was bad. Models lost some texture, but never devolved into their polygons.
I think its more realistic to expect a dlc map every 3-6 month depending on size. But they cant say that, it would mean that it would take at worst another 5 years! Imagine that.
You don't release DLCs in fucking Early Access (as they have done). That is unacceptable. You get the damn game to an acceptable position first. You know... where the original still to this day is not. This game is nothing but a mod of the original, so... yea.
I think the best part of Ark Ascended (in my opinion) is the fact that they added wild baby dinos, however I do not like when I have to lower the graphics on my pc and it makes some of the dinos look worse than normal ark survival evolved.
The Ark developers have a knack for bug-breeding that would put Darwin to shame. Each patch spawns a new generation of glitches, more resilient and infuriating than the last. Roadmap? We'd rather follow a map drawn with brontosaurus droppings than trust their promises. Show us you can kill these bugs, not just exploit them for dino-bucks.
I have a beast of a PC, 4090 etc, but still have massive frame drops and crashes.. So for me, the crashes and failed optimisation is the biggest problem
This game genuinely will not be enjoyable until the 50 or RX8000 series comes out. Maybe even more. It brings a 3080 to its knees on medium settings, that's inexcusable.
@@slimjim5392lol no it doesn't. Whether you have a twisted opinion on what running fine is or not, objectively it's going to have pretty bad graphics, low frames, clunky mechanics, Etc
@TrevorIsCommenting why are you telling me my how my own experience is going? I've been booted ONCE. That's not a bad running game. Y'all just like to whinge.
If they got rid of the host barrier on private console games, It would be worth the price tag. But for some reason they are adamant that this 8 year old feature stays in the game, rather than work on it to come up with a better solution. I don’t think I can let myself buy this knowing that me and my friends are gonna have the same exact issues we had 8 years ago.
Great video, I learned a lot! So my problem with the game right now is the complication of exclusivity for servers especially when we are gonna get paid mods (Overhauls like Primal Fear etc). So on ASE people could choose what they wanted to use as a host let it be g-portal, shockbyte or whatever, but that adds to the complexity of things. In ASE people only had to worry about the price of each host, but now that option is gone and we are all forced to either self host from a pc, rent a physical machine or nitrado. Those are all expensive options to many and not everyone owns a 2nd pc that can host asa, on top of that is that overhauls will cost as well for each player. I have the mentality of a broke b*tch and I do like having options if I have to pay extra to play with friends or host for my community.
I run the game on a 3060TI and I honestly have to admit that over time I've been having a smoother play experience with fewer drops and crashes. I really want them to fix the crash with foliage interaction so I can stop having floating rocks but even with that I can currently play on low-med settings and get solid, mostly stable frames. Sadly I can't OC my card or I get the dreaded 873 crash error all the time. I really want ASA to succeed but they're really going to have to work hard to get the bugs and optimization taken care of before they release anything else. As for the adventure pack things, I'm cautiously optimistic. On one hand, I'm really excited to have a bit of new content to go with the map... on the other hand I feel like they're going to charge far too much for it and what they add will end up causing numerous other bugs and issues... here's hoping they do it right...
Every comment on this video is like "ASA is perfect except for..." and then they list a gamebreaking bug that is somehow different from all the other gamebreaking bugs already mentioned by other comments. Just admit that this is inexcusably bad.
While I think it's _hugely important_ to keep in mind that A:SA is in early access (which I think is its own form of scam, but that's another story) how they've managed updates post-release have been...not great. I'm deeply shocked that some of the most well-known and easily encountered bugs in A:SE, or things that badly needed QoL improvements, hadn't been addressed on launch with A:SA. Most of their hotfixes have (understandably) been about connection issues and crashes, but very few have been about good ol' Ark bugs that have needed fixing for years. I've been worried that they'd fall into their old mistake of releasing new content instead of fixing the game they already had: so far, it's starting to seem like that's the case, re: the SE adventure pack imo. If this is available when SE goes live, that's just...bizarre to me. Totally optional DLC packs are perfectly fine, and make sense to release _between maps_ as a small injection to player retention and funds. I could've sworn, however, that they announced they would only release one single new creature per map, and now this new SE pack has one too. New content to shine in front of the playerbase, all over again. My initial doubts about the game have not, in any way, been assuaged, and that has me concerned for the future of the game. They even joked about 'learning from their mistakes' when they announced A:SA during a crunch, which leaves a sour taste in my mouth now. I think that dumping out the new maps at this pace is a mistake; they badly need to fix the foundation of the game before piling a ton of new content on top of it. (Another reason that I think early access is awful, in this case specifically.) God, I've said it before, but I badly want this game to shine. I _want_ it to be good, timeless, a classic for the ages, one that the players and the devs love. But I don't feel that that's the case at all.
I agree. I loved SE but it had major issues. And to me, this was their way of being able to address the biggest issues with that game. Unfortunately, we really just got a copy-paste SE clone in UE5. I'm not joking, that's what it is, and is the reason why bugs that haven't been in SE for years all of the sudden pop up again. All of this isn't even counting the price. $45 is ok personally but having to buy every other DLC that we already paid for is just too much. All of this money for a game that can't even run on current gen flagship hardware. You legitimately have to have a 4090 to run this game on epic without issues. That's... Ridiculous.
@@Saltyoldguy-it’s crazy that they use the term “built from the ground up” to describe ascended, literally just flat out lying. They promised more than other remasters and delivered less.
@@Saltyoldguy- You're exactly right calling it a 'copy-paste'; that's 100% what it is, and the look of the patches are just confirming that. They are _exactly_ replicating their previous mistakes and that's so upsetting.
-Babys being teleported to the world border, -getting bugged in the mesh multiple times, -old bugs from ASE, -new bugs in ASA, -graphics, -FPS, -SE delayed, -server issues e.g. servers getting wiped and can't get back up... Just to list some problems I experienced in the 2 weeks I was playing it 😆
@guestindisguise7079 I'm honestly not bro, I can only speak from.pwrsonal experience. I've barely been kicked from the server and when I have, it's been an entire server drop. I've never seen a blue-screen on ASA PS5. This is my honest experience... other than the lack of maps, I've no idea why the community is being so negative. if you was all here for beta ASE, you'd see what ASA is and you'd be excited. What a GREAT start 👏
Is impressive how quick the player base can forgive and forget they were promised a brand new game and got tricked into buying the EXACT same one they've been playing for almost 10 years for a triple A price instead. Capitalism 101
My Problems: Server performance makes Dinos superlaggy and dumb. No new AI-Advantages quiet the opposite. And fo course: Maps are already shaved. Entire forests missing due to abbandoned tiny houses, but the players are playing somewhere else on the map. Simple things to fix to improve the game quality for everyone..........but seems to be a miracle for the devs.
The dude that commented about ASA being in early access is delusional. I had ASE founders edition 7-8 years ago on console when it was in early access. It was exactly the same game as it was in 2022. There is no need for ASA to be in early access, they had 8 years already, it's the SAME game as before but with different texture models, with better shadows and lighting. The game code is literally identical it just has better assets. For console the issue is typical Wildcard Studio lazy optimisation... The first game was exactly the same, and by rebuilding it for ASA in UE5 they didn't solve any of the problems. Even on the console version, the game is clearly optimised only for windows PC compatibility. The frame rate is completely all over the place and unstable, and the settings and UI reflect it to still look and act like a PC game. With the updated HDMI 2.1 TVs in 2021 with VRR and the fact that VRR was enabled on XSX and PS5 they should have included options for it in the base game settings to stop the screen tearing. Instead we have to act like we are on PC and open up a command terminal console box and type in command lines to get VSYNC going. This is not the case for literally ANY other PS5 game optimised correctly.
I honestly regret buying ASA. I am huge fan of ark, like i adore this game but... ASA is the first game that just doesnt work on my computer. Every other game i had worked on the highest graphic setting but ASA? I had to go for the lowest or medium/lowest and it makes this game, in my opinion, not looking as great as the og. Not only that, even on such low settings it runs sooooo slow and there isnt that many changes that would made me overlook the problems. Its just the same game but working worse, for now. I am keeping my delusions that maybe they will optimise it better but damn, this game should have been cooking for like, few additional months
Re: Game launch being delayed and even on launch day having game build updates is honestly a huge kudos to the dev team. Yes can say should be done before hand but as a QA (not for game dev but for web dev etc) it takes a long process to get items ready to test, bug fixes that your average gamer has no idea about. It’s not as a simple as a dev hacking something back to work as need to then do another round of testing to check another thing didn’t break. Also by having launch day updates meant another Cyberpunk didn’t happen
I have to wonder if the seemingly indefinite delay on Ark 2 and the escalation of ASA are related. I remember Ark 2 getting purported as a third person exclusive character action title, and maybe WC had the epiphany that ASE fans would have issues making the transition, and greenlit ASA as a way to soften the blow and increase earnings to finish Ark 2?
While waiting that long for another map is rough. I can only hope that its in a much better state then it is at this point. My game has crashed more times this week then ASE in 5,000+ hours' from early release to the last day of ASE.
I totally agree with everything you just said. I personaly am already burnt out of asa because its just the island and i played the map a bunch of times.I stopped playing ase a few months before asa because of that reason and when the game released i was hyped for a few days until all the bugs showed and the hype disapeared .I have some experience in game dev and learning a new engine isnt easy at all and the devs havent had enough time to learn it before the rushed release date.
Well as i see it they coulden't deliver ARK 2 when promised, so here we are remasterd Ark Survival Ascended. And it feels like what they gave us was A:SE day one release with all they bugs that it had just so they can ad the "fixes" already made for it.
The worst thing about Ark across the board is that my dinos and I still get stuck on twigs, branches, trees, rocks, walls, and each other. I have died because: My dino decides it needs a shit during combat. My dino gets stuck to one of the aforementioned objects. That stupid dino naming pop up appears while I am getting attacked. My group hotkeys bug out and just stop working. I get stuck on freezing when I am actually inside near a burning hearth. Falling through the floor. Raft getting stuck, and then eaten with me unable to dismount. Thing is, these issues were apparent in the original release, and during early access when no dlc was even planned. Why do these problems and more, still exist? It's infuriating. I can only imagine what the mind of the psycho that plays this on default settings is like. And, the main reason it is so frustrating is because the game is good however, it could be absolutely sublime if the issues it has were sorted out.
My problem with ASA is the missed opportunity. Delays suck, but it means eventually we get it anyway. But if you look at some issues the game has, like how easy it is to exploit the mutation system; a rework is the perfect opportunity to rework such mechanics. But they didn't, it's the exact same crap. "Built from scratch", yeah right. In fact, one issue would have been so easy to fix; you may know that the mutation counter is not an accurate representation of mutations. Well, in ASA, mutation stats are tracked separate from wild and tamed stats. These values however aren't actually being used, and we still have the old inaccurate mutation counter. Overal it is better than ASE (ignoring content like DLCs that have yet to be released), mostly visually. But after so much effort was put into it, I just expected... more. I don't blame Wildcard for this, I blame Snailgames and Nitrado. for setting up a deal that put Wildcard in a forced crunch time environment.
I'm on ps5 and di osaurs aren't dying no matter how much I hit them. Hell the herbivores don't even react when I put 40 arrows in them. And the carnivores are invincible. Like wtf🤨🤨😐 someone help please
I’m on console and a few times I leave after 6 hours of play and I go back into my game and all I can do is create a new character anyone know why? I end up losing all my progress
I personally think Ark 2 got canned or put on the back burner for a safe stable income. It’s obvious snail is or is about or almost went under, and now it’s imperative to release some garenteed income content. Personally the way Ark 2 was sounding, it seems it wasn’t going to be for me anyway.
I got ASE for free from one of the giveaways and played a few hundred hours on the Island. When the ASA was released, I immediately purchased it, thinking that this was a good way to give the game developer the money for a game that I enjoyed a lot. Now I have more hours in ASA than in ASE, enjoying it even more. With disabled menu transition and never accessing inventory in 1st person the game is not crashing. I'm playing only in Single Player mode, so YMMV. I have a lot of hope for the future of ASA.
So you don’t open the menu to look at your inventory, explain what is your secret or how do you accomplish that? If you don’t mind me asking. Thank you
the problem is optimisation is trash and offline raiding is still a thing on official like imagine not wanting to play 24/7 or being in a 100 member tribe and just play with friends like u have no chance at all
Personal thought is - making a deal with Snail Gaming instead of anything more reputable to deal with the lawsuit troubles back in ASE's early access as that has been one of many boat anchors around the projects neck for years.
Got an XBox Series X for Christmas present and immediately started looking into this game as soon as I found out it existed. Noticing the launch date was "just a few weeks ago", I was automatically wary that the glamour shots and set pieces in the gameplay trailer wouldn't be representative of the state of the game. A new Ark launch triggers my ptsd.
The problem is they charged full fucking price for the same damn game minus all the DLC. Which we'll also be expected to pay for, no doubt. It's despicable.
I have a list of whats wrong with this game: 1: snailgames 2:missing all content 3:delayed content till 2025 4:pay to win content for every map 5:exclusive server partners with nitrado that overcharge you for a 20 player server you dont need if you have less than 5 people wanting to play together 6:horrible optimization 7:reused animal models from ark ase 8:same awful animations for animals as the last game 9:Dollie is a toxic and unprofessional member 10:same bugs and glitches as the last game 11:Nerfed and changed cryopods for no good reason 12:made cable and water pipes an annoyance and made them wireless and unrealistic
Makes me mentally upgrade the Steam reviews slightly to learn that maybe some of the negatives are just people reacting to expectations. It does sound like the lion's share is warranted though, with the FPS/crash issues. That's a shame since I've been trying to give ARK another serious go, and probably would've splurged for ASA if it was in good shape. From the perspective of a game designer: 1. It made complete sense to ship with The Island. It's the classic map and would've been most familiar to the devs, making it slightly easier to port (only "slightly" because most devs probably aren't _that_ familiar with high-engaged ARK gameplay and knowing the intricacies of even the most common maps). 2. Weird that they didn't then take advantage of that by doing Before / After footage in their trailer. (Or maybe I missed it?) 3. Weird they didn't ship with _one_ additional map. Ideally something completely new, leveraging all they've learned from working on ARK. But even an old map would've worked, because it seems basically certain that most later maps (especially paid ones) have been seen by fewer than 1% of the total playerbase. (Granted, they'd have to pick something that fit with ARK's core theme of starting out really "tribal".) 4. Weird they didn't opt for stronger anti-cheat. I play ARK entirely for PVE, but the fact is the PVP playerbase seems to be 80% or more of the total audience. Cheat protection isn't something to skimp on. 5. Not quite as weird that they didn't use the opportunity to improve long-standing design issues. Mostly because doing this stuff takes time, and they were apparently rushed already. But I'm thinking of things like how ridiculously disjointed the tech tree feels in places _Does it still have giant auto-save server hiccups?_ That was always the worst bug of ARK for me: that rubberbanding every 15 mins (or whatever) was basically just a built-in feature of every server.
Seperate save files need to be a thing on ps5 like ASE did. Eg configuration local data each map all seperate save files, they need to fix admin codes preventing achievements on ps5. And thirdly save button back
The biggest problem I had, for the game is that they tried to make me pay more money for optimization that was promised to us, in the original. The complete final nail was them announcing "sister expansions" that you will have to pay for. No thanks. I bought and played Ark. I'm not going to pay more money for the same game.
Well. There’s been a couple of events and more information of timeslines with maps and paid content. Would like to see an update on the things you’ve discussed and how things have aged.
I played ASE from before we had Alpha creatures, or had the swamp area's as we know it now (a max creature spawn wasn't even 120 i think ?), i have seen enough of that map as is. If they want me to experience that ride of bugs/glitches and release drama again, there going to have to pay me this time ... instead of the other way around. I always played SP, spend quite a bit of time trying to help with bug reports and other stuff, so when they deleted all bug reports on the official website. I left with along side it, weeks/months of work down the drain (without being able to review your old reports lol), hoping to get long standing SP bugs fixed. I already said to myself not to pre-order or by on release from WC anymore, but after that i really stopped caring about them in general. And now only watch content and the drama etc, much better deal imo, maybe Ark 2 will be good .. but even if it isn't i'm good as is ;)
I do agree with everything u said but as a console player I couldn't be happier with mods. Seeing all my fave ark RU-vid using the amazing mods. Now I can play the same they did
on console and having issues with save game not working correctly and automated not working correctly after 5 hrs was wiped not once but on 3 occasions
Here is the deal: wildcard/snail have decided to just spend the next 2-x years remaking the same game they spent the last decade making. They figure they can sell these adventure packs which are basically the "new" content for the old maps and literally duplicate their experience with ASE.
1: The delays 2: The extremly bad performance 3: The buggs and glitches 4: The nitrado problem (I know there are more flaws but this is just to talk about the title "The Problem With Ark Survival Ascended! "
No the main problem is we got fucked on this game big time and they wouldn't even refund anyone's money. And they have made this game as similar as ark survival so pro players already know exactly how prevent others from creating a tribe to even get started. They left it to where toxic player/ tribes won't even allow you to start pvp even though you would never be a problem to them when really again was mentioned in another ark RU-vid video that they will have worrie about server transfers open they don't care because they know the game is going to die quick due to these issues and not being able to get a refund holding everyone's money hostage.
I agree with a lot of what was said. I really think Snail is to blame as they enter into contracts and force Wildcard to release on Snail's timeline not Wildcard's. That said, I do see this game having a lot of promise and am hopeful. I think the roadmap they have laid out, while very long (2 years!), is probably more realistic. However, I think Snail will intervene and force WC to release more paid "items" which will cause 1 of 2 things to happen. 1. they push back release dates of maps or 2. the maps come out not fully ready
I'm loving ASA I run my own physical server with ASA my girl plays on my server with an Xbox Series X. We use a few QAL mods and for us the only issues we had have been fixed a good bit ago (camera bug when jumping off an argy)! Server runs 24/7 minus when I update it! (server has never crashed) I have played about 1k hours (I work, lol)! We both have over 10k hours in ASE and we both like ASA a good bit better than ASE! Too many people (not just about ark, about everything) just find reasons to cry and complain and ruin great things and is sad to me! I just can't wait to go to Abberation naked, lol! Abberation is my favorite map and if it was its own game it would be my favorite game, cheers!
I agree, I love this game better. My kids took interest in this game as well now they want to play with me yay. I’m so happy they joined me.but we play split screen. Do you happen to have a video demonstrating how to set it up. so i can play together on different consoles/pc with my kids. Thank you
Also, the reason the game released in essentially the "same state" as ASE did, is because they ONLY ported over the code. They literally didn't rebuild it from the ground up nor clean up the code base like they said they did. Some of the LEGACY ASE exploits were in game from day 1. Even some after their "official" launch were in game. The only way that happens is if they ported over the base code, but didn't port over the patch that addressed and "fixed" the issue. So there was no rebuilding of their code. Same goes for cheats. I talked w/ a cheater since they were cheating a few days into wipe, and they said the EXACT SAME SCRIPTS for ASE work in ASA, the ONLY THING NEEDED CHANGING was the bypass code. Nothing else. This further proves they only ported shit over. WC has proven they're a shit company by lying about rebuilding the code. Quite frankly I see them going under.
I will laugh when they start to take payment for all DLCs :D :D :D I will not touch this even with rubber on before they come out with something you can believe in. Too much questionable things, like Nitrado, the latest update, Snail giving different info than Wildcard... Game being in a state that they are allowed to modify in pretty "game changing" ways... Only one map when you can play all the maps on ASE with all the quality of life mods.
Surprise might be a prologue to ark 2. The core of the game is not remastered yet. Only the map. Some tlc have been added and they have hinted on more tlc/qol.
friends had hard time playing it so we moved back to evolved and now everyone can play and its stable. evolved is still a really great looking game. The thing that got me was the crashes out of now were on ascended.
what amazes me about ASA is that wildcard broke every single promise about this game and people still bought it like hot cakes even though like 90% of the player base don't own a strong enough pc to play it at a decent frame rate.
I can’t play on official at all. Rubber banding - it’s manageable at times but ruined the experience for me. I joined an unofficial and have been having lots of fun without frame drops or rubber-banding. That tells me that they skimped out on the servers for sure, which is sad - I would rather have like 20 servers and have to fight queues over having a pentium 4 and 56k hosting it -.-
Just refunded my purchase. I have a good rig but the game is so unoptimised it pisses me off that they released it in this state and charge what they do. This is after we already purchased the entire ASE suite.
Honestly i have run across some frame rate issues and a few little bugs here and there in singleplayer that game really isnt that bad and people gotta remeber that the game is in early access but i hate that people are calling this a scam... like the game is here and yes while buggy it does look absolutely amazing and it actually is decentish condition given the circumstances of its release. Bot to mention the game is cheaper than ark SE and we are getting all the dlc for free + some.
1. You don't create a game on the hopes that modders will make it into a normal game. 2. You don't create a game that requires the highest level of computer to run at normal settings. 3. Fix critical failures first 4. Listen! I've played over 1000 hours, have made so many changes in configuration settings, and I still get the random "host connection not found". 5. If you have a user base of thousands complaining about a bug, we're not the assholes... you are.
Rt from all the things that just don't work as intended, the problem I really have is what is shit but works 'fine', yes I'm talking about the fucking follow distance, mostly fliers. 1 follow distance should be 1 stage behind me and my mount, like a car distance on the road rule, not where your centre of mass is compared to mine, leading to collided hit boxes. Also, why do pteranadons still fly round you in fucking circles stupidly fast? You're supposed to be FOLLOWING me, that means you should never be faster than me or come into my sight unless I make it happen. I've already lost 5 dinos in 3 days because of the shitty hitboxes with the enemy pushing so close to me when it's already hitting me as it was that the hitboxes merge and I literally get stuck
My biggest issues with it are the requirements for running it viably on Pc because its not within my means currently to upgrade my pc set up to something that can run it in its current state. The other concern i have is in regards to the massive cheater problems on official, like why would anybody want to play it with cheaters ruining their experience.
Im still confused about the complaints about the optimization, I personally ran day 1 ASA on my 900 euro laptop with things like 2 tabs of Google, discord and some stuff for school (teams, eclipse, word) opened as well on medium-high settings edit: I don’t remember the exact fps but it looked smooth so it should be at least above 40 fps edit2: the maps progressively releasing earlier is likely due to stuff like sotf and bug fixes being added at the start of ASA since it’s still relatively new but when that’s done they can work exclusively on the dlc’s for a short while
I picked up Ark maybe a month ago. I played ASE for maybe 30 minutes. I saw that there was a nicer looking version with a better building tile set and ended up swaping to ASA. So as a new player coming to ark I'm still really enjoying the game. Exploring the island, learning new things. I could see how veteran ark gamers would be kinda mad but I'm actually happy I have to wait for new content because it will give me alot of time to have fun on each map with out feeling overwhelmed.
the main problem is its been played out ive put too many hours into ark even modded im at the point were ive done everything in the game and cant even look at it now
I purchased the ps5 when it 1st come out, getting back into gaming after years away. Ark was 1 of 3 ps4 games I purchased along with it. And I've loved it. I won't be buying asa til they bring it out as a complete set. I'm sure it will be more polished by then, and include at least some of the dlc maps.
What even is your favourite new quality of life feature Rampy? I like the repair inventory crafts from smithy but my favourite no doubt is the extra hot bar cycle. My God that feature has come in clutch a few times for me already and will continue to be super helpful even in very mundane situations.
@@theboogerbeater sure mate. The main set of hotbar for me goes 1)axe, 2)bow 3)pickaxe, 4) melee weapon, 5) tranq gun/crossbow, 6)bolas, 7)an actual gun like a shotgun, 8) stimulant, 9) water, 10) parachutes..... The new system allows me to use medvrews energy brews or other things I might need on the fly, that I'd otherwise have to swap out in my hotbar manually.
I think the premium mods and adventure packs are a great idea for them. Considering the other games I play from paradox and creative assembly with their constant expansions Wildcard have been missing out.
This game started the downfall of my SX, and from what I’ve read others too. Clean out your consoles, and expect to be changing your thermal paste before it’s too late if you’re not under warranty. It doesn’t even look that good and it puts your Xbox/ps5 under more stress than any game I’ve played.
