Okay so most of your critiques for ES1 were subjective but valid, so nothing I’ll say will change it. But anyways the dlc you mentioned which you are hesitant in spending actually helps alleviate the repetitiveness and adds in side missions and actual side characters. But doesn’t seem like you are interested. However, your critique of ES2 is definitely not fair. I’ll give some background info. That demo you played isn’t even a demo, it’s a prototype that was put together to show the very basics of what ES2 may offer at gaming conventions. It’s not even a foundation, it’s literally the just the cement mixture lmao. I’ve been playing the closed beta and oh boy the difference between the prototype and the beta is night and day. It’s not repetitive, having hull, armour and shields doesn’t make it stupidly easy, there’s main missions, side missions, job boards, that are inspiring just like the music (probs won’t mean much to you given just like your previous critiques, this is also subjective). Oh and those alien structures, yeah they’ll be returning, more so than ES1. Heck their latest KS update shows a concept image. Anyways you’ll be surprised if you do check out the early access (or even some beta gameplay).
I appreciate the feedback and the heads up. I only had access to the Prototype of ES2, which I thought and figured would be unfinished and barebones, but I knew that there was a lot of potential. It does sound like that the closed beta will be more of what I am looking for. As for the DLC, I'm still hesitant about picking it up despite your thoughts on alleviating the tedium. I think if I got the Ultimate Edition during a sale, then my opinion would have changed. Like I stated, I don't think ES1 is necessarily a bad game, it's a solid game. But the value of it is much better when discounted. Maybe when ES2 launches and I give it a few months to smooth out, I'll come back to it.
