I remember playing this game called _Damage Inc. Pacific Squadron WWII_ for the PS3, who was basically a rip-off of Heroes of the Pacific, it even have the brother of the protagonist killed by the Japanese during the Attack on Pearl Harbor, only this time he was in a B-17 Flying Fortress instead of the USS Arizona, I liked it actually.
with both that and this video marked there some fans in arcade combat flight sim / flight sim with laser genre. but yet only one franchise. it's good also bad. monopoly is never good right? but with both video mark other competitor is having hardtime to just simply exist in that genre . . .
Project Wingman is ace combat with alternate world setting (or real world ?) with red filter not in live support or even competitor. star wars squadron is the one on live support. But yeah hawx 1 is overused ERS & tac off, hawx 2 is better gameplay worse story
Over-g was good i don't know what are you talking about, you can even hover on the f-35 and it is stealth and f-22 aswell, online was a blast too you clearly are the one who said gears of war was a good shooter in fact they are alike W/E i still own Over-G and never gonna sell it.
Heroes over Europe was my child hood. I have been interested by warplanes since I was 5. I wish I could play that game again but I lost my disc and it isn't on steam
I've played both HAWX games, AC 6, 7 and the black sheep Assault Horizon while watching cutscenes for the others on RU-vid. And as meh as they are, I definitely say I prefer HAWX and AH. Not for gameplay or what not, but honestly, I'll take being hammered over the head about profits over being told and shown how bad war is every entry. Nor are we the newbie or basic guy who becomes a legend by the end of the game either. You're just a really good pilot. You get your praise, but keep going with business as usual. Funnily enough this is something Assault Horizon did better, and I feel the voiced protagonist helped. (Also the characters talking in the upper corner is something we see plenty of in GRAW and Rainbow Six Vegas. Perhaps a bit weird but it makes sense in-universe considering the stuff like CROSS-COM.)
You clearly have no idea about real life planes and only enjoy arcade flying which is what Ace Combat is no matter how good it looks. HAWX 2 problem 2 you stated, about the planes slowing down so much and turning so tight that you almost stall out. If you knew about real planes and flying, you would have noticed that the only planes that do that are the Su-27s or its variants with thrust vectoring. Yes in real life, those planes and almost slow down to a stop and turn on one spot because of thrust vectoring. Thats how the the famous Cobra move was first preformed among many other things thrust vectoring engines allow planes to do that other planes cannot. The point is, many of these games were trying to offer a real life experience than Ace Combat which is a phony as it gets. So theres 2 camps. Theres people like who only like and understand phony arcade flight games and others who also get or even prefer more real life flight games thay may be closer to a sim. Your hate of Over G exposed this most with you. Over g, to this day, is still the ONLY game releases that is even close to a sim in the console age as it was only released on console in the beginning. It wasnt meant to be an invincible flying around with 1000 missles to shoot 100 planes. It was more of a combat flight sim game closer to real life than any other. And I mean from a flight mechanics and combat perspective. Ya it doesnt look the best but its the closest real combat flight for that time that ever released. If you play a flight sim now like DCS or Falcon BMS, they are combat sims. Over G is the only game that has even a few of the real to life combat mechanics it is. Like missile evading for example. In real combat, that is very difficult even with chaff and flares. Over G captured that. Yes missiles can be evaded in Over G but you have to use closer to real life moves to evade them. Not just mash the countermeasure button then back to firing 1000 missiles. Im sorry to tell you but Ace Combat is as fake as it gets when it comes to real flying. Its a first person shooter in a plane and it always has been. Mindless and fake just so people like you can call it "fun". You shouldn't make a video bashing other flight games when you don't know what you are talking about and you arent even aware of the full story or aware of the differences between a sim and an arcade flight game. Some of those games were aiming at making more sim like, more real, which didnt exist on consoles back then. They were trying to separate themselves from Ace Combat and draw in other sim flight fans on top of some acrade flight fans. The problem was, you could know do so much with the power of the consoles back in the day so more realistic and sim like flight games were lacking in areas that they wouldnt be on PC. But they attempted a toned down version of sim like games by either introducing new features like HAWX did or making the combat more real life like Over G does. The 2 games your ripped the most in your video. Coincidence? Theres no such thing. You just have no idea about what they were trying to accomplish and no idea about real planes and real flight in combat. Again like the HAWX example. Su-27 is a real plane and it does things in real life that most planes cannot do, making combat with them very difficult and much different. HAWX tried to capture that in the games but you have no idea about that. In closing, go educate yourself about the differences between arcade flight games and sim fight games. Then stay in your lane and only talk about arcade flight games because you look and sound like a fool talking about games that took a more sim approach to separate themselves from Ace Combat. Realistic flight sim fans know your favourite Ace Combat is a mindless button smashing childrens game and not even close to real combat flight. So you have your "fun" playing those games and the real combat flight fans with laugh and shake their head at you when you rip games you know nothing about

Energy Air Force: Aim Strike for the PS2 is still the closest thing to a PC flight sim ever on a console! Aero Elite Academy was pretty good to and you got to fly Apache and Cobra helicopters!
As much as I feel like Project Wingman is somewhat meh for me (I'm only like 8-ish missions in tho) it's definitely not on life support, I've seen many people simp for either the game itself, Monarch or Prez
Ace combat 7 is one of my favorite games and honestly project wingman won me over instantly with the cutie prez and honestly I don't think anything can match up to those for me
Over G Fighters is the third of a series by Taito (Energy Airforce, Energy Airforce Aim Strike!, and Over G: Energy Airforce, which is the game's name in Japan). The first two were not released in the Americas, but they were in PAL territories. I see it as more of a competitor of Wing Over (Not released in the Americas either) and AeroWings/Aero Elite than Ace Combat, not only because its increased focus on simulation, but also because of its expansive training mode that follows a tradition of Japanese flight sims which I think started with Pilotwings. Ubi had nothing to do with the development of these games, they just published Over G outside of Japan.
Bro, Over G was probably my second favorite simcade aerial combat game. It leaned more towards realism than arcade style with the modern era jets and weapons, especially FOX3 aka active radar homing missiles which take some knowledge in how they work along with radars to avoid and although it seemed slow in maneuvering, it mirrored more closely how planes have to manage G loads and when to cash in that high G to be able to pull an enemy into the hud in a dogfight. I know it wasn't for everyone, but if you were more about a serious take on aerial combat in a game, that was definitely one of the BEST of it's time when most aerial combat games were complete arcade button hold down ammo spamming shit fests. The only thing that was really true in my opinion about what you were saying about Over G Fighters was the mission style and length. The campaign was notoriously short missions and bad, but at the same the multi paths you had to take in order to unlock better and different planes was a good replayability take and the arena mode was one of the best game modes in that game where you had a large map, multiple enemies to engage however you wanted and as you progressed certain objectives, more difficult missions and enemies would come up which led to unlocking even more things in the game itself.
I love that game! Funny enough I can't stand the dogfighting because you just fly around in endless circles but I love the ground and surface attack missions.
Battlestations was pretty cool, but man did i love crimson skies high road to revenge as a kid. Blazing angels 1 and 2 i loved as a kid, but BL2 was way better. I played the HAWX games too. To my shame, ace combat 6 was the first AC game i played, and i didnt have a playstation
30:23 I think that Hawx 1 is still one of the best arcade flying game of all time with pretty impressive graphics for its time. You can fight me for that but I call it one of the best games, which I have ever played.
HAWX wasn’t bad. HAWX 2 was really good. It came from a time when Ubisoft was trying to make an MCU of games. They had GR, R6, SC, etc. and HAWX had ties to End War and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter… and vise versa with all the other games…
1:11 don’t forget the game not even Game Stop wanted: “Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk”. The Game that copied every trope and everything else. There were also several flight games (mainly PS2 era) released by big publishers. Secret Weapons Over Normandy, one from Konami, Heatseeker, Jane’s , JSDF, and so on. Even a Top Gun or two. And then a few on PS3. Mainly Pacific and one from Conflict whatever. PS4 even had a arcade MMO called dogfighter. And let’s not forget Ace combat infinity. IL-2 was one of the best PS3 ones…
Project Wingman (minus the VR only game) and one called something Dawn are great spiritual successors. Especially since Scamco Bandai is becoming EA/Activision. I remember along while ago before Top Gun DLC, that they said they’re releasing the Hawker Tempest proto plane. Never came. Even “An Ace Combat Fan” reported in it. That and EA trying to make their own Ace Combat (he called it Lootbox Combat). Tho that may have very well have been Star Wars Squadrons. A not so bad game but abandoned before full potential. Criterion need to stay away from games unless they wanna make a sequel or reboot to Black…
As a kid I saw my uncle playing ace combat which I didn’t know the name of at the time so I just called them plane games and my first plane game was fucking over G fighters I remember not being able to ever beat a mission because I didn’t know what I was doing and then my mom bought me ace combat 6 and I fell in love and played every major ace combat game to this day.
Stop blaming the game just admit you are shit at playing Over G? 😂 ngl wound me up a bit throwing so much shade at it, it's actually a fantastic game. Dogfights against skilled components are more thrilling then any experience I've ever had from an ace combat game or any other console games, including war thunder tbh. If you can't avoid any missiles it means you are trash, get good, practice against skilled players and learn how missile physics work, and you'll get better. We still play to this day and the dog fights can be so intense, all on an Xbox 360 release title that you can still play online to this day. Also the game barely crashes at all, im guessing you are using an emulator? Maybe try the original 360 format, it actually works. Failed to talk about how the aircraft all have diverse loadouts which actually all do behave differently. 2v2v2v2 online free roam arena battles with ships, aircraft and land vehicles all going on made for such fun games thst could last hours as you'd hunt each other down like cat and mouse using your radar like it was gokd dust to avoid giving an enemy your position. Different aircraft actually performed differently at different altitudes. Imo the game is played best aimed toward the Sim side, use realistic controls. Manual everything. No weapon reloads, and then the game actually becomes a challenge where you have to plan your shots and use your wingman wisely. Yes I agree the generic low level missions are a bit underwhelming but some of the tactical missions are fantastic on realistic settings, the canyon attack run being one of my favourites. But yeah... I feel you've not given the game the fair credit it deserves, If you want to try playing online we still have servers going, I can show you how to actually avoid a missile! :P
