Personally, I don't hate playing ranked right now, but I do think your ideas would be a good idea to fix the quality of life. From some of the changes they're looking at, it does seem like they are aware of these issues and will hopefully create some good changes in the coming months and years.
League still has the largest esports fan base and events. The money being thrown around is growing still so I'm not really into the doom and gloom approach. The game itself is only frustrating because its designed to be. 5v5 so someone's got to win or lose. Don't like it? then mute all or play aram. FYI I'm married with 2 kids, I still play about 6 hours a week and watch every game of MSI, worlds and 90% or LCK games.
I agree. I'm a high elo player way back in 2019, but now I have much bigger responsibilities in life, that I'm stuck in Gold. I only have very little leisure time, but I can still enjoy the game despite having toxic and braindead teammates. The key is to think of it as only a game, mute your teammate's chats, and play champs that you like (not because they are meta).
@@jonahriola3325 yup i was plat 1 almost diamond when i used to play not anything crazy but i just started playing again a week ago and im silver 1 ahah but i just have fun now bump some music and enjoy it
i mean i still remember the old days of getting just a few kills with katarina or yi and snowballing out of control, sure it felt amazing if you were one of them, and it felt absoilutely awful since there was no way to come back if you were from any of the other lanes, thus one just saying "ff" because there's literally nothing to do when they were fed since you couldn't even play the game at that point. that aside i think when i see this comparisons we usually don't take into account how much better the general public has become in the game, people have surely learned a lot and have gotten better over the years, hell just wave management while not a precisely difficulty term it was something that you could abuse to get a lead, now even low elo apply this knowledge am,ong others. regarding the comebacks, i think its fine as long as they are paced fine, my only issues right now is mostly with gold bounties from certain CS leads that make no sense and some object bounties that last too long, ive seen enemy get bounties of towers that are just impossible to defend but they weren't even pushing it was the minions and the tower was meant to fall at that stage anyways, makes no sense to get bounty gold off of that. that aside "all time low" is a far stretch, its still the game with the most views and most activer esports out there despite being over 10 years old, obviously riot knows this and has been expanding into other genres and even with this they are still going strong so eh....
Really great analogy about what role a comeback mechanism plays in ruining the sanctity of the game. There are team comps and play styles already inherently built in to the game. With the different types of comps and their different strengths and weaknesses, a pro patch that balanced the different answers as opposed to balancing champions would make the esports scene exhilarating while allowing for different mechanisms in solo queue. Think about amazing comeback stories in sports- they are legendary because a team dug out of an insane trench to defy all odds to win. The current system allows you to slingshot past a team that was insanely ahead based solely off a single mistake the enemy made, not an outplay the behind team performed. There's a lot of growth needed in the sector to bring the esports scene in parity with other sports but I think the comeback mechanism is a great place to start. And it would make sense for it to be different for pros versus solo queue
