The Problem with Office Chairs for Sim Racing | Gaming Room Update 3

I put two shoes on the back wheels like as if the chair was wearing them and it works perfectly for me

I did the reverse lol. My gaming chair keeps pushing me back so i took one like yours lol

U can put a yoga mat under the chair. Cheap and good solution👍

To solve this problem you need a wooden beam that is about 40-50 cm wide and a trouser belt. The beam is placed behind the two chair feet and the belt is stretched between this wooden beam and the lower beam of the steering wheel stand. It's best to take two belts and place them on the left and right on the wooden beam. The wooden beam itself can be attached to the chair feet with small rubber rings so that it doesn't constantly fall down when the tension on the belt decreases. Enjoy the Race! :)

I have the same problem but I recommend adding something heavy behind like a big heavy rock on 2 of the wheels or a you put the back wheels inside of a shoe so you can prevent it moving

I got wheels that lock. Solved my problem and also made my chair roll smoother as a bonus.

Here's the quick and dirty solution, just wrap a bunch of duct tape around the rollers. Duct tape is awesome.

I wrapped a tie down strap around the base of the chair to the wheel stand. It was a prefect solution for me

Advice from a fellow sim racer who has a wheely chair l, cut wedges out of 2x4 wood planks and if you arent able to do that a wide doorstop does the trick aswell

Just buy Bell Glides. Usually, you can easily remove the wheels on office chairs and replace them with Bell Glides. Problem solved

I also faced this issue but I'm on carpet and just used 20lbs dumbbells behind the wheels to keep it from sliding back, yoga mat would work tho I'm sure.

I put a decent sized blanket under the chair and it stops the chair from rolling back when I slam on the brakes

I use rope from the chairs "up/down-pump" (middle post) to the veneer under the pedals, works great and it's adjustable.

Same here... but bought Locking Caster wheels on Amazon. Works like a charm.

Options 1.take wheels off 2.get a mat 3.put something behind chair 4.block the wheels with stuffing

The roller of the chair can be exchange with fix toe. And place the chair and sim under a matt. Preferably skipping rope matt. May be a bit expensive. But it works. Because it is much durable and anti slip. Enjoy.

The good thing about office chair is you can swing it side to side like a motion rig to help feel tire load etc lol

I used a tie down strap, put it around the chair and around my wheel stand. Works great.

i just used two strips of sticky rubber that i put behind the back two wheels, but that only works if you have hardwood or vinyl floors

Had that same problem tried playing for put I got pushed wayyyyyy back

You can buy stands for it that replaces the wheel below the chair

Theres a bar underneath the sim frame, stretch it out and put one of the chair's wheels in it to lock it in place

The little felt bottom, plastics top round things that you’d put beg legs on works perfect, I use a small rug and put 2 of them under my wheels and it’s work mint. It’s felt on Carpet so there’s no movement.

I used two shoes on the back wheels like the chair was wearing them and it worked perfectly for me.

My officer chair is so old that it doesn't move, the plastic wheels just work like if they have a handbrake locked

Easy free way to fix, take a old belt and take off a caster. Put belt buckle over caster post. Put caster back on. Take the other side of the belt and either put a screw where you need for proper distance or there is enough gap under pedals on mount, use a zip tie to loop through two holes on belt. Other wise you can remove caster wheels for no rolling or even cut em. That chair looks like the clip at bottom of hydraulic post will protrude past leg base if casters are completely removed. That would wobble and damage the wood floor.

That laptop on the IKEA chair is the same laptop I use to play FH5!!!

I just said F it and built my own. Used that office chair, took the wheels off and made it the drivers seat. All under like $60 in wood.

I took the wheels off, tilted the chair back due to the middle boy that pokes out, and placed some books under the front legs.

Just got to pull on the wheel to keep you in place.😂 I always noticed right away when the bolt that held my old wheel on fell out, I'd pull the whole wheel off the base😂😂. Looking at a p1x pro now

@RyaNewGame you should use zip ties to tie it to the steering wheel stand or use chair blocker which cost some money

I use sandals to lock the casters. Problem solved.

Maybe like cut holes in some tennis balls and put them around the wheels it might work?

Take the wheels off that’s what I do when I play mine. Put a rug or cardboard or something under so it won’t scratch the floor.

Carpet/ fuzzy rug under it will help it not move as much

I have this problem, i used 2 small plastic wedges that you Normally used as spacers when doing laminate floors, they work perfectly as wheel stops, one on each side.

You Can do one thing drill off the whells and Put an Carpet Under The chair so you Dont get Scraches On the Floor 😅

Use flush cut wire snips and place them open under the 2 back legs of the chair. The rubber coating on the snips will grip the ground and your wheel will get caught in the “V” created by the snip handles

Take the wheels off then put socks on the bottom bit if u have a solid floor

Im not sure how close youd be but you could always stick your front wheel of fhe chair into that open slot behind your feet. Usually, they're made for that specific thing lol

I did fix that problem 10 years ago, and it cost only 1 dollar with a tape cover the weels like a ball and until you finish it 😏

I usually take out my wheels while playing on the racing sim

I just used old shoes I’d put over the wheels. Worked just fine till I got an actual rig

You can remove the wheels for the chair it will nit cost anything and will completely fix your problem

Jus push back and lean the wall more comfortable and can move

The Apex stand from gt omega has a wheel trap to stop you rolling. Other stands have similar solutions too

Theres official rubber stoppers for office chairs for that exact reason but I don’t remember the name.

Put pliers under the wheel make sure the pliers have rubber grips

You can take the rollers off and get flat replacements

Id put a small rug thats what i did or a shoe wich i find less convenient becuase you have to get up to adjust

I got a expensive hermanmiller areon and it was a bad idea to also aquired a desk racing setup, daaanm.

You can simply take them off, if you use enough force.

Put chocks on then like they do with planes

You can buy just the wheels that lock up by themselves and put it on your chair legs

I thought all those wheel stands came with a long tray like thing that you put your front chair wheels in? Maybe it's just a few of them that had it. I saw a wheel stand today that has the metal stems like the wheel casters that stick into the chair in place of the wheels to lock it in.

I raced on a kitchen chair for years before I upgraded to a computer chair.

I tied the laces to the two legs of the chair and to the cockpit.

Maybe is you put a small rug under the chair it can stop it from rolling 👍

This is a temp till you get a rig but if you want to make it work instead of looking good put shoes on the wheels.

Add a carpet under the chair to make it not move

I did this for a while it ruins the experience its what made me stop with my back. Now getting back into it the right way. Please get a rig its so much better.

Wrap an old shower towel undes the chair

I used a ratchet strap that i connected to the chair and then onto the frame.

Take the wheels of that's what I did and it worked perfectly

I use a blanket or towel on the floor to jam the wheels you could always tie a rope to the rig and chair or a hook and rope

They work on carpet just put a thick carpet like rug under it
