Please don't use Established Titles. I get that they're sponsorship money, but they're a scam company. They don't plant any tree, you cannot become a lord/lady due to general title laws and you own no piece of land because of land ownership laws. It's turning my country into a weird foreigner's theme park and all that money you send them gets sent to their offices in Hong Kong instead. The office in Edinburgh is their social media office for taking photos and film, nothing else.

I'm glad you addressed the Nintendo Switch Online subscription thing, but I honestly think you didn't go far *enough* there; why? Because it doesn't affect *just* Splatfest, it *also* affects the multiplayer as a *whole* , locking it, and by extension, all the rewards, gear and *other* stuff you have to unlock by upping your *multiplayer* level behind a *paywall* , limiting players who *already* paid the base *$60.00* to the single player story, and *nothing else* ! I *love* Splatoon because it's *much* more creative than any other team shooter game I've ever seen in the gameplay, world building *and* story departments, and to top it all off, the first game released on my *birthday* , and I got it as a *present* ; and I played Splatoon 2 on my Switch, and even bought the *Octo Expansion* (still one of the best *new* DLCs we"ve seen in at least a *decade* in my opinion), and I played the Hell outta both games until Nintendo Switch Online became *mandatory* to play the multiplayer matches, and after that, I only used the *free trial* to participate in the *last* Splatfest of Splatoon 2. But knowing that I *still* have to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online to even access *anything* besides the singleplayer story mode, I've been *boycotting* Splatoon 3! I understand locking the online features behind the subscription when they're an *optional* thing that doesn't really add much that isn't *already* in the game (I don't *like* it, but I *understand* it), but if you *have* to play the multiplayer mode to access *80%* of the games content, it should be the *exception* to requiring a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to participate in it! *That's* why I'm boycotting Splatoon 3; we need to let Nintendo know we *won't* stand for that *greedy bullshit* !

The Tomb Kings, known as the Priest Kings in their former lives, are the undying rulers of Nehekhara, an ancient Human civilisation that formed a great and powerful empire some two thousand five hundred years before the birth of Sigmar Heldenhammer and the founding of the Empire. Out of all the unliving creatures that would claim dominion and royalty over the dead, only the Tomb Kings could truly claim such masterful and undisputed sovereignty. For they had once ruled a mighty and far-flung empire during a time when the rest of Mankind were little more than savage barbarians. Long ago, during an ancient and forgotten age, Nehekhara stood as a shining beacon of civilisation and Human achievement; a golden age when its cities shone with a majestic splendour, its buildings crafted from magnificent marble and limestone, its armies capable of conquering entire kingdoms. In this long-lost age, Nehekhara's mighty rulers reigned as living gods amongst men. But this great realm was destroyed millennia ago through acts of great treachery and powerful sorcery. The living of Nehekhara perished long ago in a single, mournful night, and in their absence, the dead stirred from their graves and claimed the land anew. Even as their ancient civilisation now lies buried beneath the sand, its once verdant plains turned to searing desert and their mighty and glorious empire fractured and in ruin, the Tomb Kings have once more awoken from their deep sleep. Rising from their decrepit sarcophagi, the mummified rulers of Nehekhara awoke with eyes of burning balefire, their thirst for power, conquest and vengeance just as strong in death as in life. They have returned to reclaim that which is rightfully theirs, their legions innumerable, rising up from the scorching sand brandishing weapons of polished bronze and priceless gold. Ancient, emotionless and spiteful to all those that have slighted them, woe betide those foolish enough to stand before their silent onslaught.

In the ranked modes if it's one sided and one team is getting spawn camped it's over quickly because you just ko but if turf war is one sided and one team is getting spawn camped they are getting spawn camped for a whole 3 minutes

The "Paint-As-You-Go" point and somehow have the "Only the last 30 seconds matter" in the same argument is somewhat counterintuitive. If only the last 30 seconds matter, why do I have to bother with getting the mid first? "Because if mid is painted by the enemy then-" yeah, but that's not true at all is it? I may have misunderstood it, but I think he meant not pushing for the enemy spawn when the match is happening close to the center. At least I think so because when we're the ones getting spawn camped, slipping past the enemy team and covering as much of the center and the enemy base as possible has been one of my most reliable ways to recover from a defeat. You pressure enemies out of your spawn and you can attack them from two opposite angles. Plus, if an ally notices you, they can superjump towards you and put even more pressure on the enemy base. Usually this ends up in a map reset or a full wipe regardless of whether you pull it off successfully or not. But then again this is only ever useful when you're pinned against your spawn and there's not much you can do.

I don't know about this. The problem with big maps in turf war is that everyone gets so spread out that team fighting doesn't happen. Idk about things getting better in the future. I think 'cramped' might be the devs' preferred map style, since many Splat2 maps had the same sort of problem with a lack of side routes because the devs forced a lot of small central chokepoints. I think the intention was to encourage united team pushes to force through, but it mostly just lead to an obnoxious amount of camping.

I think an easy way to fix turf war without changing the base mechanics very much would be to have scoring take place at every minute mark. At 1:00, 2:00, and at the end, both teams gain points for the amount of the map that is currently inked in their color cumulatively. You still get the fun reveal at the very end to see how much the final results changed the scores at the very end.
@EncryptedLiberty
@EncryptedLiberty Год назад
The more I think about this, the more I really love the idea. I also thought that the final map state--what would normally be the only thing that is scored--could count twice as much as the states at minutes 1 and 2. I did some theoretical scores for the worst scenario: Team A is in the lead throughout the entire game, but at the last minute Team B takes the lead. Here are the results in percentages of the map inked. The last column correspond to the condition that the last minute counts for double. 𝟷 𝟸 𝟹 |𝚂𝚄𝙼| |𝟹𝚡𝟸| 𝟺0 𝟺𝟻 𝟺𝟸 = 𝟷𝟸𝟽 𝟷𝟼𝟿 𝟹𝟼 𝟺0 𝟻0 = 𝟷𝟸𝟼 𝟷𝟽𝟼 𝟹𝟾 𝟺𝟷 𝟹𝟿 = 𝟷𝟷𝟾 𝟷𝟻𝟽 𝟸𝟿 𝟹𝟺 𝟺𝟻 = 𝟷0𝟾 𝟷𝟻𝟹 𝟹𝟽 𝟺𝟺 𝟺𝟹 = 𝟷𝟸𝟺 𝟷𝟼𝟽 𝟹𝟸 𝟹𝟿 𝟺𝟽 = 𝟷𝟷𝟾 𝟷𝟼𝟻 Pretty interesting how close some of these games ended up being. The more I look at it, the more I like the idea of the final map state counting double. Helps to be a tie breaker in games that would have been close. If they did this, they could also implement a "knockout" condition: if round three counts the same as the others, it's a knockout if one team is ahead by 10 points at the end of the second minute. If round three counts double, you have to be 15 points ahead to get a knockout. In my examples, Games 2 and 3 would have been knockouts for Team A--who still won under both conditions despite the massive lead that Team B took at the very end.
@adult11252
@adult11252 Год назад
Very interesting, or if rather simply. If the team conquers with high differences for 90 seconds or 2 minutes. Instantly knockout. Gotta defend that 3 minutes is too long since stages is very cramped.

It looks really fun, and now I'm kinda wondering why they aren't in Splat3. It solves the issue of the last minute of Turf War being all that matters, and I'm left wondering why they weren't brought into the normal turf war stages in 3. I wouldn't mind if that was made into a standard rule for Turf War, or if at the very least, it was just incorperated into some of the Turf Stages.

It still baffles me that they just completely removed shifty station as a thing and didn't give us any sort of equivalent in this game. To me one of the biggest missed opportunities of splatoon 3 is the fact that still to this day you only have the 5 handcrafted rulesets for online battles, and "the city of chaos" pulling out a new version of turf war every splatfest would've been such a cool way to introduce the custom rulesets that nearly every other shooter has. Instead all we got is tricolor turf war, and as far as I'm concerned that mode might as well not even exist for how much I've gotten to play it.

But, we already can get frame drops and lag when playing with 8 people, it is very dependent on what weapons everyone picks, all the particles from the weapons and specials would be nuts. Maybe if they somehow stabilize the game it'd work? I WISH it was 3 teams of 3 And having a new shifty station concept for 3 would have been extremely welcomed. Especially for tri colored. @@SingingDragons11 The issue is Splatoon 3 right now does not have good matchmaking, at all. Which is why casual players are running into Splatoon 2 X rankers so dang often that there's been a spike in complaining about tryhards and sweats. The reason people get mad is because they get put in these clearly unbalanced matches repeatedly and lose over and over because of the garbage matchmaking. Personally when I am in turf against a less skilled team I'm not going to try as hard against them because a) the matchmaking is unfair to start with and b) I don't find joy in ruining other people's ability to enjoy their matches. These X rankers and Splatoon gods can exist just fine on their own if the matchmaking kept them away from noob players, but it literally pairs them up all the time and it's just infuriating.

It really does seem like the development team was rushed, especially considering how we didn't get a Splatoween and they even skipped a splatfest

It always annoys me that people don't understand what should be their priorities in Turf War: 1. Take and hold centre, it's the only contested part of the map (your base is easier to retake since it's designed to be harder to get to for the enemy team, and the oponent's base is too hard to hold) 2. Take and hold flanks (to either get a vantage point, or a sneak-attack route to attack centre from) 3. Ink Base (you're likely respawning there multiple times during a match, and it's harder to get into than out of which deters the enemy team from taking it anyways)
@ondiiina
@ondiiina Год назад
Trust me, once your base is taken, you're done for. Spawn killed immediately. You might push back towards the center but not for long. For example the stages today made it so it's easy to get to someone's base and end your team... Not a problem in Turf War because it's usually more chill but in a fest, it's terrible

In my time during splatoon 2, I’ve learned at least 2 things. 1: securing the middle in turf war should be your first objective. A 3v4 is not gonna help you win. And 2. If someone uses tenta missiles, try not to run towards teammates as I’ve seen many die from this. Even more so if they were also targeted by the missiles.

I actually really like Tricolor turf war, and that's coming from somebody who's been both a defender and an attacker, sometimes I wish that it was a part of the regular mode rotation as well, I know that might diminish how "Special" it is and all, but I feel like one of the reasons it feels frustrating for some people is because their winning team is at stake, and winning in tricolor isn't as straightforward as regular turf war. The reason that I like it is mostly because it's the first Asymmetrical game mode we've gotten for Splatoon at all, and playing a rampant esc tower defense to stop the enemy players from getting to mid is really thrilling.

I see u using the Sword a bit nice. I like turf war because its a great beginner mode, an shooters need that but yeah its not great in competition. I love the faucet anology perfect explanation, its so important that the entire meta of turf war is survivability specials. In S2 it was quad baller l3, and rn its machines and splash. I think turf war could be made competitive by having sections of the map close off at certain periods like that one shifty station. Realistically tho Splatfests are also supposed to be accesible, I think having Pro mode with the actual rankings be accesible to teams is the main thing, good players who want to play with at least 1 friend just does open. Ranked modes would be a dream. Funny enough tricolor hammerhead is a better layout then actual hammerhead, but yeah even if tricolor is horribly unbalanced, just leave it accessible its new and its fun. They are willing to adjust stages as sturgon got a much better defending layout so thats cool.

Finally someone acknowledges that kills matter in turf. They matter a LOT now with these small and cramped maps that constantly lead to head on confrontation. You literally need to get kills to maintain whatever turf you've already inked or YOU will be the one getting killed/splatted and then the enemy has an opportunity to paint more. Many times I have won turf games with less skilled teammates by splatting the enemy team often enough to create openings for my babysquid teammates to ink without frequent confrontation leading to them dying. Also turf war teaches map control as it is much harder to make a comeback if the enemy has inked a majority of the map. Not only does that mean they have a movement advantage and will have an easier time hunting you down as you cover up their ink, but it also means you have to fight an uphill battle to turn the tables and come out with the most inked. Your movement will be more limited than theirs as you try to cover up their ink making it a lot more important to pick your battles at that point. Inking grants you map control and movement which is crucial. That's just how I interpret turf war, I spend way too much time in that mode.

We all know that player that pics Aerospray or Sploosh, runs to the enemy base to paint everything just to die right after, basically just feeding their brains out. 2: Splatfest Open has the worst matchmaking i've ever seen. nothing prevents you from playing with a new set of randoms as your team and getting put up against a 4-stack with a 7 win streak. This happens way too often.

Turf war should be Splatzones, but with multiple zones on the map. This means you still need to paint the map, but there are important points of interest to control. Overall Splatzones is my fave of the ranked modes, along with Tower Control. Clam Bliz sucks because it uses an extra button to toss the clams, taking your hands off of otherwise important buttons. Raimmaker just sucks for the sheer fact it can be a 20sec match, and the weapon takes away your gun for a fairly bad weapon, strong to kill, horrible to shoot.

The new tricolor Sturgeon actually was reworked to be a lot better. There's grates that allow the defending team to go into the attacking team's base. There's a lot more cover in the center and the changed defending team bases were improved by a lot. I think one major problem with turf war is with judgement. A lot of times when my team was winning, there were times where only one person was holding mid because everyone else or majority of the team died. Upon respawning people would end up inking chunks of base that were untouched because I think they thought we were still winning, and then it results in the person defending mid dying and a loss for the team if they can't win skirmishes. You have to know when it's okay to ink base and when it isn't. I think overreaching isn't necessarily a bad thing especially if you are good at killing others, as if you can win your skirmishes with the enemy then it allows an early advantage for your team. Don't think early advantages are useless. Such as rushing to mid and or invading enemy spawn. Sometimes you end up winning the entire match from the first thirty seconds because if you rush to spawn and are able to kill off majority of the enemies your team will catch up fast and you can start holding them in. Or the same with mid because instead of sharing the same turf with team-mates at base you'll build your special faster at all the untouched turf at mid. Sometimes dying is okay too as it allows your team-mates to know that there are enemies there and that mid is priority now. There are times when having to hail Mary and run into enemy base is useful especially when you're being spawn camped. If you aren't immediately killed and manage to get away you can lure away others and make it easier for your team to kill them. Being at enemy base is also helpful when being spawn camped because your teammates can jump to you. A lot of people dislike turf war which is fair, but I enjoy it a lot. I hope that those who want to improve in turf war or have some tips for the next splatfest find my information useful.

I think that turf war could be fixed with one feature: TIME BASED CHECKPOINTS. Basically, every minute, paint coverage would be calculated and if one side got the checkpoint, the opposing team could have a chance to come back. If one side gets 2 checkpoints, they win instantly. This applies to any point in time during the match, meaning turf wars COULD last for only 2 minutes. This is better because: 1. If a team is winning, the other team isn’t forced to endure the suffering of people who have poured thousands of hours into the game for an extra minute 2. It keeps the bullshit of winning for the first 2 minutes and losing to the 3rd out, which has happened to me way too many times. also I never knew that pro is better for solo queue. Good vid!

Open matches should be solo players only, with the outcome giving you Clout regardless due to how random the compositions can be just like in a normal Turf War, and Pro should be for solo or pre-made groups where losing means no Clout gain because the whole point is to play like your life depends on it.

I didn't get the part where you said painting enemies ink decreases their score... I believe the score does not decrease, however splatting an opponent causes to stain the ground with you own ink for additional points, making the opponent inactive during the re-spawning period of time, and there is a big advantage to continue painting. It has happen to me that even if the whole team is wiped in the last 12 seconds (not even the last minute), this turn the tables completely. I agree with your comments, probably Nintendo will improve the next Splatfest, adding Tower Control at least. Regards.
