I visited Edinburgh in 1984 and had a terrible time just ordering shepherds pie and tea. The teenaged girl taking my order in Waverly Station was undecipherable to my American ears. The Proclaimers sing with a slight Scottish accent compared to her. This song is no exaggeration.

A jolly little number. Sadly there's no subtitles.

phylwx - LOL, Scots say "Shit" as "Shaight", which would rhyme with "White", while Americans say it as "Shit", which rhymes with "Spit". It sure would be a lot easier though, if English adopted the Japanese way of dealing with vowels... they always sound the same, no matter what is around them, so there is no such thing as a long or short 'o', it's always just "o" as in "Show", and the same for the other vowels. XD;

So embarrassing that two men with clearly non-rhotic accents are singing about keeping r's.
