It's funny they felt the need to censor "fuck" in the opening number but 90mins later there's two dozen teenagers goose-stepping with a giant swastika.
As a parent, I would sign my kid up for theater just to do this show. I was doing costuming for a production of this show when I was pregnant with her, so it would be full circle. :D
“Hey dad! I got the lead in the school musical!” “That’s great son. What’s the role?” “I’m Hitler!” “WHAT?” “But it’s a gay Hitler.” “Oh, well. Okay then.”
That`s what I thought at first, I didn`t read the title or description at first. It looked so well done and professional, then after I saw it was a HIGHSCHOOL production. WOW! These kids BELONG on Broadway.
I was surprised to see that this is a high school production. The sets are amazing and the orchestra is fantastic. The acting is superb! Wish I went to high school there!
Not only are the leads amazing, but everyone in the chorus is so professional. The choreography blew me away! I would love to know how close to Broadway this school is and if there are parents, teachers, and community members who have connections to Broadway productions.
Hi we are a public school in NJ, but none of us have ever been professional performers, amd we didnt bring in any Broadway professionals to help us on this show. We just have a great team of theatre educators! Thank you!!
@@annepoyner3891 I am a local theater professional and educator (specifically focused on direction and design) if you ever need anything feel free to reach out. I would kill to work on a production this good!!!
Geographically, the school is fairly close to NYC, but it is very close to the Papermill Playhouse, which has a longstanding relationship with Broadway types.
I can't believe this was a High School production.... This could have been put on Broadway and done well. Everybody is top notch. The production values are excellent.
WOW! I saw the original Broadway production several times. I cannot believe this was done by a high school. The direction, sets, choreography, music, and the acting - all first-class. This is professional on every level. These kids are natural talents but the standout was the kid who played Franz Leibkind - he has definite star power. A shame the "Springtime for Hitler" number was lost - I bet it was sensational. A really momentous achievement!
I've done a fair amount of high school pit orchestras and this is damn impressive. The sets, the choreography, the acting, the orchestra, *chef's kiss* bravo!
Did this show my Senior Year and we were NO WHERE NEAR THIS QUALITY OF A PRODUCTION WTF? For real, I'm living for this. Everything and everyone is great! edit: also its kinda funny and nice of OP to edit in the scene from the movie just so the story can be concise. It's so jarring, its kinda Mel Brooks-esque so it fits right in
My local theatre was supposed to do this show in 2020 but covid shut it down and now we’re doing it again. I thought that our actors were great with mainly adults and a few teens but seeing an all teenage cast doing this show is amazing! I was not expecting such a great cast from these people. They are absolutely amazing!!
This is the most ambitious high school production I have ever seen. Inspired performances all around. Excellent execution. Top shelf, students !! Bravo and Encore !!
👏OUTSTANDING 👏 It takes me back to my high school were we did Little Shop of Horrors. So shout out to the outstanding set building crew, props, costumes and painting! Being behind the scenes is just as important 👏
Congratulations all. I spent many years as a tech director for professional equity touring companies. In 40 years of watching show after show, I have to say, this was extremely professional. I enjoyed every minute. It was apparent how hard the entire cast, crew, and orchestra worked on this performance. Thank you.
This is the most impressive amateur production I have ever seen. Almost unbelievable that a high school could pull this off so well (or that it even dared to put it on). Bravo!
I have to commend this school theater program, not only for quality productions but for not editing for school or prohibiting certain productions because of subject or language.
It has always been a lifelong dream of mine to own my own theatre and put on the Producers as my first show. But since seeing this - i honestly don't see how on earth i could possibly do a better job than these guys have already done. This was fan-freaking-tastic!!!😃
Finding this for the first time after years of wishing for the producers to be brought back to stage….this held me over for a bit. God damn so good on all fronts. Actors. Orchestra. Delivery. Honestly so impressed.
Were you the musical director of this production? Those actors should be on Broadway right now...that's how good Julian, Peter, and Michael were especially. Adrian and the Carmen Ghia performer as well! But all of them were great and you put together an incredible show!
2008 was when i watched this film and has been my favourite film even bought the music book for piano. But this is amazing I don’t know how else to describe how well this production is.
This is a highschool????? My word, this is outstanding. I don't remember anything close to this level of talent and production at my school. Very well done!
That was phenomenal !!!!! I've been involved with theater 40+ years and have never seen a high school production so wonderful. Where is this high school located?.. There are a few 'Summit' High Schools
This would make Gary Beach extremely proud. What a damn exceptional performance by the whole cast this is hardly believable to be a HS aged cast. I’m late to the party but my god whoever that HS theatre director is knows what he’s doing, has funding for that awesome set, and has tenure to be able to pull off a play like this 😂. 100/10.
Enjoyed watching this production again after two years. It comes up very high in the rankings with good reason. I do hope the youth who brought this to life have gone on to their respective careers with the same enthusiasm. Whether you become a "star" or not doesn't matter. These life lessons you get from working together so closely pay off in many other ways.
What a superb production! Brilliant and talented cast! This is pure, unadulterated entertainment!!! WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Have we seen any of the cast in Broadway shows?
This is amazing for a highschool production! Seriously! I know this is years old but it came up in my Recs after watching other clips of the producers, this is amazing really you all did an amazing job! Hopefully all these years later some of you all are still in theatre!
Greetings from an ancient old director - if this is a school production it really is excellent and I totally agree with the comment about the excellent school orchestra !
This production is simply incredible. I’ve seen the actual show on Broadway in New York in LA at the Revival in 2005, and I am astonished at how talented the participants were. I can’t tell if all of the actors and actresses were highschoolers or if there were some adults assisting, but it was an amazing production. I can’t believe a high school could afford to put this musical on. Amazing
This warms my heart! I'm a musical theatre and acting vocal coach and artist developer in Long Beach, CA. I have played the role of Roger de Buis a couple of times and directed 2 high school productions. This is truly an amazing high school production. The caliber is fantastic. So entertaining to watch. Thanks Hope your school received the Jimmy Award for this production if not. This "Jimmy" is giving you an A +.
I'm obsessed with Summit High School. Every single show ive seen from them is amazing! The Orchestra and the set designs, and the acting and singing is just insanely good! Love this school!
This was amazing. I saw some clips from this years Jimmy awards and I am simply astounded at how good High School productions can be. The only comment I would make, apart from being seriously impressed that the school allowed them to do this show, is that I always thought that the "I debits all de morning..." from I Wanna Be A Producer was specifically meant to be sung by an Afro-American actor. I remember when the Producers came here to Australia I remember reading that they had to cut those lines out because The Lion King was on at the same time and most of our black actors were in that so there were none available to do this (yes we're diverse down here, but there's unfortunately not a lot of Afro-American actors here in Australia).
