I cried at the end, it was beautiful.

Had a Maserati BiTurbo convertible in the 80's. A wild twin turbo carbureted piece of Italian workmanship. What a gorgeous car to look at. Which it needed to be since it almost never ran right. The fuel system would heat soak, meaning if you went to a store and came back within 5min, you're probably good to go again. However, if you let it sit longer than 5 min, you'd have to crank the starter until it nearly overheated or the battery nearly died. I'm talking 25-30 seconds of cranking to bring up new fuel and get past the vapor lock situation. If you suddenly encountered traffic on a hot summer day, you needed to quickly turn off the a/c and start looking for alternatives as it was going to overheat very soon unless you started moving again. They put out a service bulletin later for a "tropic kit" retrofit that came with larger fan, relay, etc. to help but it never solved it if outside temps were above 85-90. Oh and those hot summer days meant the leather convertible cover shrunk in the sun and would never again stretch over the top and snap into place. Dealer said it was "environmental". Poor gasket quality control led to an oil return being partially plugged. At 13,000mi, one cylinder seized, snapped the timing belt, interference engine design so valves went into pistons. Engine was completely redone under warranty. At approximately 20,000 mi, a leaking water pump gasket was slowly dripping coolant onto timing belt. Belt snapped again accelerating onto on ramp, 4 valves bent, one hole in top of piston. Car was traded for a 300ZX Twin Turbo and I vowed to never to buy Italian again. An expensive lesson for anyone looking at how low current used Maseratis are. There is a reason...
