So Rabii, what about someone who "Naturally" has a homosexual tendency or is "Naturally" attracted to the same sex but rejects it and doesn't like that at all? Is there certain prayers that need to be addressed to Hashem or Certain Spiritual ritual or sacrifice that needs to be made for those tendencies to go away? Or what is the solution here! I hope 🙏 you see and answer my question ! Thank you.

I’m sorry I’m only seeing this nine months later. I don’t really look much at my comments. Not that I don’t care but I’ve got a lot going on. I can’t really answer your question. Besides, the way you asked, it would probably be the best answer. I think that praying and doing very devotional, spiritual ritual, and obviously sacrificing ones carnal desires, would go along way toward getting rid of the frustration of your sexual attraction.

What exactly do you mean when you say men like friction? Do you mean tension in the relationship? Thank you.

lol. some old texts discuss :P there being people flipside being whats called Hermaphrodites. spiritual texts that said jesus had breasts. some interpret that as jesus was actually a woman, woman as a being with both male genitals and female breasts. so in the Supernatural realm we head to after. its endless possibility.. not what im personally interested in...I love women. end of story. lmao. but if god makes those kinds of beings out there, a step further than homosexuality. and they are their own movement and planet out there. so bet it. whatever. haha. i fully support the gay communities and think Love is the end all be all to God. And don't think they'd be here if not for God's will. perhaps they were straight for many lifetimes before this life. and god had an "experimental" path available for some to try homosexuality. I wont be doin that personally. lmao. but good for them n they :D

There are aspects of the torah called גזירת הכתוב. Meaning, a decree of the scripture. These laws are not open to interpretation. The passuk says ( chumash vayikra 18:22) For two men to be intimate is forbidden. In the follwing torah portion kedoshim the opening passuk says קדושים תהיו כי קדוש אני הי you should be holy because I hashem am. Rashi comments holy means separated from illicit sexual relations. According to the torah the only sex allowed is between two jews who underwent a kosher marriage, and the women observes the laws of niddah. These concepts are basic level judaism and its hard to believe that people think this only for the extremists or super religious.

How can you force a physical attraction? One could live a lie to the detriment of their poor spouse & themselves, but how do you overcome a natural sexual repulsion to the opposite sex, plus rid yourself of attraction to the same sex?
@RabbiYomTov
@RabbiYomTov Год назад
Sexual repulsion is a big challenge. Regarding forcing physical attraction, I wouldn’t force it. Spouses have to be very open with each other. With the right kind of openness, a couple can work it out. I wouldn’t want to be that couple, but a lot of people are living their lives with some painful realities. Things are not always easy.

some say sex is where spirit meets body strongest in this life. given the tales of succubus's n such. people who lose their lovers to death reporting visits nights after etc. haha. doesn't sound far off.

What proof does the rabbi have for the notion that "non-normative" sex consumes a much higher amount of the defined self than does "normative" sex? Just saying so does not make it physical or psychological fact. I think this is an example of the tail wagging the dog. Perhaps it is because that homosexuality has been oppressed and repressed for so long that it (might, anecdotally) take up a larger part of one's identity. As far as "friction", would the rabbi care to precisely define what he means?

I'm not certain if there will be proof of this from an empirical standpoint. I will say this as an anecdote and as a guy who is into other guys, I do notice within my friends who are gay, just how much of our conversations tend to steer towards that aspect of themselves. It is difficult to talk about other things like hobbies or other intertest outside of this aspect. I will be fair in saying that maybe they feel comfortable with me sharing that since they know my attraction as well. However, I think when one is friends with another human being, the relationship should be encompassing of more than one aspect of your being. I also noticed in myself, previously, how often I would make this aspect front and center in my personal relationships with others, who probably didn't need to know that about me or care. In honestly, I don't think this can ever be empirically proven, especially in the 20's and beyond but I do think the rabbi is onto something here. As far as friction goes, I think it means one of two things... in this case here what the rabbi is probably referring to is the pleasure received by men.

I respectlessly disagree. Heterosexuality is not the answer for everyone. I am a lesbian and have no attraction to men. Also it is not a sin I am Jewish and have gone to a rabbi about this. The prohibition says, “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.” Now in this line it doesn’t say man in the second part of the sentence it says “male”. Which is very different than than the word “man”. There are even male flowers male animals and male insects. The Torah was not specific to which “male” it was talking about. Also why the change of wording from “man” to “male”. Maybe it was talking about something different entirely. Because if it was talking about homosexuality they would say man.

First of all, it’s better to read through things a few times before we send them and you could’ve just as easily sent that thoughtful, unique and creative. Comment with the word respectfully instead of respectlessly or just get rid of the whole thing and write what you wanted to say. I will sing, that we don’t know how to interpret a single commandment in the entire Atara, except for that which the oral tradition teaches us. Not one commandment comes with explanation in the Torah itself. It would be super cool, though if your explanation was the one given through the generations. It’s creative, but no the actual explanation that has been transmitted. With all due respect, I have lined my life personally to that which is in the transmission.

@@RabbiYomTov so u agree that there could be different ways to interpret this line from the Torah. That’s great! That’s a start! That is a rabbi’s job their job is to debate and provide explanations for what the Torah says meaning rabbis can provide different interpretations for laws in the Torah. Which they do on a regular basis. So I’m very happy that u are replying to this comment. There are many interpretations for that line in the Torah. You don’t have to choose the homophobic one.
