Here is side B to the "I Drove All Night) Cassette single released in December of 2012. It's a cover of Mike and the Mechanics and a remastered and remixed version of Breaking Out. I don't own these jams. Leave me alone.
Just sharing, but one reason I love The Protomen so much is the excellent pronounciation. Yes, I know it sounds silly, but I can always make out every word, without question. I get the full effect of the story, the song, the whole feeling of the music. Group of incredibly skilled musicians that should be playing out sold out stadiums, IMHO.
If you guys are listening to this through the playlist like I am and feel dissapointed that some songs are unavailable, you should copy paste the links from the unavailable videos and use an mp3 converter to download and listen to them.
I freaking love that this was released on cassette. Definitely paying homage to the 80's vibe of The Protomen's stuff as others have said. It is such a nostalgic experience to put a cassette in a tape deck. Gotta love that hiss!
@christburner I see Silent Running coming from the view of the people leading into Act III. There is a line in the song that says: "Teach the children quietly, for someday sons and daughters will fight where we stood still." To me that fits perfect with where 'The Sons of Fate' left off.
“Take the children and yourself, and hide out in the cellar. by now the fighting will be close at hand.” in which joe’s father is the singer of silent running. and baby joe has to watch him get hauled away as his mother’s hand presses to his mouth to keep him from screaming his little eight-year-old lungs out also i guess joe has a sister or something
these songs work so well together, glad they did a remastered version. but now Breaking out kinda sounds odd with that guitar rift in it, but still really good
The last time I talked to them at PAX, Panther and Turbo Lover told me their next big album before Act 3 was going to be a cover album. I don't know if this was technically it (I hope not because I want to buy it in a format I can actually play!) but the potential hold up is their crazy touring schedule
I'm wondering if they will for their cover album. I hope so. I really dig the transition from that to Breaking Out, though. It fits so well. But I agree. They need to cover the entire song. :3
heck with me i listen to this tape when i read or play me old videos games i dont have a nes but i have my gameboy color and game boy advance still and i play legend of zelda oracale of seasons and ages plus pokemon
does anybody else hear this to be from the point of view of Joe? placing this right before breaking out feels so good. i really hope they do this whole track shit sounds good (referring to silent running)
I don't have newer cars, so I do. An interpreted point is that machines are taking over in the story, so when they're trying to repress the human race and they can't be trusted, we would turn to analog.
Because sometimes you want to listen to a song. I love the entirety of Protomen's Act II, but sometimes I skip ahead to The Hounds because I want to listen to The Hounds.
Why the fuck did you comment this so many fucking times? I can't scroll an inch down without seeing this goddamn comment. It doesnt even make any sense
