UPDATE on the SS neck carves. Maple vs RW: It is a little confusing, and I actually missed some info. I was told the Maple has the original 635 carve, which it does. But what I just found out is that, moving forward, it's the RW that will very subtly change to be slightly more rounded in the shoulders. So if you've played a RW, the carve of the maple should feel like what you've felt. I briefly played the Nebula at NAMM, which would have the new RW carve, but it was subtle enough that I didn't notice the change. I'll be back by the factory soon and will give the new RW shape a closer look and report back. Hope that helps...
Why is it that I like Brian Ewald more than I actually like PRS guitars? The guy’s a really good player, especially for demos (in other words, he doesn’t overplay and actually plays stuff to give you a proper idea of how the guitar sounds rather than noodling all the time), seems like a really nice guy and pretty funny too in this video. You should definitely get him to the UK... I’m sure you guys can afford his airfare even if Paul won’t pay. 🤣
There's a ton of NAMM 2020 videos, but no one does it like Andertons... The Captain and Pete never forget that guitar playing is fun. Lots of great info and a few laughs to boot.
Reminds me of a Mazda Miata I saw in a dealership around 2005ish. It was painted in this same kind of paint. Definitely the same color changes as you walked around it. IIRC is was a dealer installed paint option that costs like $6k.
I have a hopped up USA Fender Deluxe Strat, a beautiful Gibson Les Paul Standard and an Ernie Ball John Petrucci Ball Family Reserve. Each is important to me for different reasons, but the guitar I play most anc play best, is my PRS Custom 22. The scale length is perfect for me. It sounds great and looks awesome in every way. Thanks Paul.
@UC0H9jCw3FBFOOxIMUjdqDaA He cheated on his wife with Yvette from Covet. Supposedly he told her he was getting a divorce or something along those lines and it messed Yvette up when she found out the truth.
Beautiful guitars, but just a suggestion,,,,Paul. The pickup collars detract from the beauty of the guitar. instead of a white collar, mix a plastic color to match the color of the body and paint scheme of the guitar. Also,,, Paul I believe the plastic used needs to be bounced off your work desk for a couple of weeks so the sound is further shaped at the output, just sayin Engineer to Engineer. Put it to the test with an audio spectrum analyzer, and I think it will be evident.Meanwhile thanks to you”all at PRS for a beautiful piece of art, and a guitar in one. You and your team are an example for any company to follow.

Every video is just Lee wrecking the lighting in each and every booth, love it.
I love PRS. But yes, the showroom was way too dark at NAMM. I also really would like to see more brands allowing people to play the guitars through headphones (like Gibson).
In the early 2000s a paint company rep showed us what they called "flip-flop" paint. We loved the effect and asked him how much it was, and ended up buying some -at $2000/quart!
My 6 cents, in case you read it; you now have a lot of competition from the other "big outfits". Peach Guitars, Thomann... you still do it best! you have perfected your craft, and the contents and output they cannot match at this point. Give a chance to Pete to express himself too. Stop sweeping the microphone away from him, and those you interview, just because you think you should lead always. It makes me think you are like one of these reporters, not interested in what the answer to your questions are. I am not a big fan of PRS, but you made the visit pleasant to watch, even for someone not interested in their products. That's good!
The Nebula colour ( Harlequin ) was all the rage in the automotive industry in the 90's. I can't help feeling it's a bit too cheesy for my liking. It just reminds me of old cars lol.
Pretty much tell your wife to kick rocks if its over a $2300.00 guitar. Thats not that much for something your likely to keep the rest of your life unless you work as a door greeter at walmart in Alaska....
Was the double neck dragon at mansons in Exeter? I remember going to their old store and seeing it hung front and centre above everything else! This was 17 years ago so my memory may be a little fuzzy
I wish the Nebula came with the maple fretboard, but otherwise golly I love the new colors and options on Johns sig. I'm not a strat guy but PRS knocked it out of the park.
I feel your pain, but fail to identify overmuch. I write left-handed, but am ambidextrous enough to play right-handed guitars, so I'm more lucky than you; I play all righty guitars and don't have to wait for a lefty version. I hope you get what you want/need, though!😎❤️️🎸‼️
Great work on the Dragon, just way too bling for me, and I'd be terrified of knocking it or damaging the fretboard. Love the Nebula though, be a lovely colour to use on others at some point, and the colour of the SE Starla is beautiful. There's something about the white on the scratchplate of the Silver Sky that I can't seem to like, no idea why, perhaps a mint green one would be better?
There was a story about the Dragon III that the neck was scalloped so perfectly they didn’t leave enough space for the glue. TVR have used halcyon flip paint for decades. I have a guy..
Why won't prs do an 80s style guitar? They've done a strat, so it's not that far fetched for them to do an h/s floyd loaded guitar with a 6 in line headstock, big ole frets type of thing, with their build quality. I'd get one right away.
I went into my local PRS dealer on Friday. Specifically because they had the new charcoal flame finish SE. The guitar felt awesome, played fantastic and sounded great. The finish was flawless except for one detail. The flame top didn't look good. This has been something that I have been noticing with other SE's since I have started paying more attention to them. The two halves of the flame or quilt top often do not match. This particular guitar had a beautiful flame on the lower half or bout. While the upper half did not match at all. Had very little flame and even a 5 inch section of no flame at all. It looked like two different guitars stuck together. It has also been very noticable with the tramps green. Now I have seen some beautiful tops in photos on reverb. And in stores, and of course the guitars shown in this NAMM booth are all stellar. But for a person to order an SE site unseen is a total gamble. I even talked to my local dealer about it. I loved the SE I tried Friday, but I couldn't get past the top. Of course the store only had the one in stock. And a store isn't going to order in a batch of them for a person to pick through them to find a nice matched top. This was my own personal little rant I guess because I went in expecting to buy that charcoal flame SE and walked out disappointed. Now I need to search places like reverb or other places that post photos of the actual instrument to hopefully find a nice matched top. Or visit other stores in other areas and hope to someday luck out and find one. Because ordering on line is its own gamble. The picture may look great, but once you have it in your hands. It may not feel quite as nice as others you had tried. Anyway rant over. All that to say I wish the SE's were more consistent on their tops. Unless the difference is intentional.
The original nitrocellulose had chemicals in it for curing purposes that are illegal to use now for environmental reasons. It was also apparently very toxic.
John K Musicman? Suhr? Tom Anderson? Ibanez AZ series? Ruokangas? Kiesel? I have all my vintage strats refreted with Jescar stainless steel frets and they sound exactly like original frets. The shape of the frets, the choice of the strings, their gauge, the size of your guitar pick and their material are WAY more audible.
Maybe he is wrong maybe you are right. But he is convinced it makes a difference. Otherwise he would use them. I hope you're not saying he's trying to save money.
