You mean the steam deck? 😂….jokes aside vita 2 would have been awesome, love my original vita and recently took it on a trip, vita truly is a portable system compared to something like a steam deck, which is a great system, but honestly it’s no where near as portable as a vita.
i've had the OLED version for about 7 years now and i still love it. this device was way ahead of its time and it had the potential to be the greatest handheld console ever made. i wish sony didn't fumble the bag on this one
@@Galafador I don’t think the vita was ahead of it’s time… it was already lacking behind smart phones and iPads when it got released I think it was well within its time but never ahead That being said I did love the vita my favourite games in 2013 was kill zone Mercenaries and persona 4 golden I played the vita religiously 😂 I think I got like over 1000 ps trophy’s just from vita games
@@oo0024 in terms of processing power maybe, but in terms of features I think it definitely was ahead. one feature for example is the deep sleep feature, you can leave the vita on sleep for literally weeks (or even more than a month in some instances) before its battery runs out. I don't think there's any gadgets today that can do that, let alone a gaming handheld.
there was a time where I was playing P4G, turned it to sleep and forgot about it for like a month because of irl stuff, and then when i picked it up again it's still on the same bossfight lol I was really surprised
Between the PSP and the Vita, Sony's handhelds were wonderful creations. Shame that Sony had little idea how to properly support either one after release.
Maybe if the psp or vita was given to Nintendo or Xbox, it would've survived. Sony just didn't care anymore because they made enough money on their other stuff. 🤦🏿♂️
My first ever console. Got it back in December 2013. It has a special place in my heart. I always thought that handheld consoles were better because you could take them with you wherever, but a lot of games didn't get a good port imo. You see a game on PS3 or PS4 look real good, then see it in PS Vita looks completely different. At the end of the day, I think this console could have been supported better
Damn, besides Sega Genesis the PS1 was my favorite. Driver was actually the game I played the most, cool to see it was on the Vita. It was too ahead of it's time. Having no good games killed it.
Just so you know, I've never seen anyone being banned off of PSN with a modded Vita. Been doing multiplayer and the store without being banned. Definitely look into getting it modded. The ports are insane (GTA Trilogy, Bully, Sonic 1, 2, CD, and Mania, and Super Mario 64 60fps).
@@rob4601 are you asking what's physically required or a guide on how to? If you need a guide I recommend this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l9HWm4561hU.html If you have a PSV-1000 model you need a Vita, the Vita memory card (any size), a MicroSD to Vita adapter and a MicroSD card (trust me you'll want some more storage that's cheaper and non proprietary). For the 2000 model you don't need the PS Vita memory card because it has 1GB of internal storage.
This thing for it’s time was unbelievable. A OLED screen on a device in 2011/early 2012?! Graphics at times that approached near PS3 levels? Beast of a machine.
PlayStation Vita was my first device with an OLED screen Nintendo Switch was my first device with a USB-C port Evercade was my first device with a Mini HDMI port
I have both versions of the vita. I love them. It’s an emulation beast once it’s hacked too and games look amazing on the oled screen and they still look really good on the later led screen as well. Super stardust delta is a pretty cool twin stick shooter
"It’s an emulation beast" Not really no... For PSP though, yes it is. But for non-Sony consoles it's pretty bad. Of course you can run pretty much flawlessly games from the 8 and 16 bits era but Nintendo 64 games are hit or miss, and the Vita can't run PS2 or GC emulators. Any decent Android handheld would do better when it comes to emulation, and they can be bought new for the price of a used Vita.
i bought a PSVITA about 8 months ago. it's great. the mod support for it is really good and playing PS1, PSP and PSVITA Games are such a joy. good nostalgia.
I bought my OLED version used for about $150 Canadian and I modded it instantly. Dowgraded to 3.65 and did permanent Enso. So far, installing mods and games, my PSN hasn't been banned. Am also using a 128gb memory card. Everything works fine till this day (+ I still earn trophies on the go too). Love the little portable and I still play it from time to time (since the battery lasts so long).
Beautiful console, I'm still playing and getting trophies, no hack. Some essentials: Killzone, gravity rush, Uncharted, sly, persona 4, tales of hearts, world of final fantasy, final fantasy X-X2, god of war 1 and 2 HD.
On it's own, totally worth buying. If you mod it, you get incredible value and a sweet little console to boot. I do risk my PSN account, although it sounds like Sony's last test Vita's used for testing updates were dumped so I don't believe there to be much worry anymore to anyone worried about their PSN accounts. It's a fun little console that I spent my life from age 12 to now at 22 playing, nostalgia is a killer but this is a great system.
PS Vita 2022! Still have mine on my gaming desk and pull it out from time to time. I spent far more time with the PSP back in the day, but I love that I can play many of those games digitally through the Vita.
That intro certainly made the Vita look beautiful. Thanks for making this video. I still play mines though I am sad they didn't get as much game support as I'd like.
This was one of the greatest hand held consoles of all time! So sad to not see it get more attention. It added a second analog stick before the NEW Nintendo 3DS added it's c-stick. I would have loved to see more ports and exclusives made for this. Loved playing Daxter, Sly Cooper, and LBP on this.
Does it really matter though? barely any games would have been enhanced with this aside from a handful since the 3ds isn't really the console for shooters and such
I got a Vita at the start of the year and it's been great! My favourite games so far have been P2, P3P and Persona 4 Golden, Tearaway, Uncharted, Hotline Miami and Gravity Rush (haven't finished GR yet but it's good so far!). Such a good console, this and my 2DS are my go to consoles at the moment.
You can play persona 2 on the vita? Thought it was for psp only(sorry new to this whole vita thing I don’t understand the difference between the psp and the vita lol
@@itsjustroberto yes on the psn store you can buy persona 2 innocent sin, if you're in the U.S you can even buy Persona 2 eternal punishment which you can play on PS3 too I believe. There's also the psp version of Persona 1 which you can play on the vita
For a PS Vita in 2022, a mid range ARM chip with SteamOS-levels of support would be a crazy cool device for Sony specific games. Imagine if they could bring all the great emulators in house with official support from PS1 through to early PS4 games. I’d say a 5.5-6 inch 720p screen would be perfect for this use case. The big issue for Sony portables was always the business model, in that Nintendo always had the mobile console market. With modern subscription services, a ~$250 device with a tie-in to a higher PS Plus tier that gives access to all of these older games would be a killer value while also keeping the upkeep costs down and subsidizing the device cost over time.
@@janvertonghen14 agree, however I would argue that the steam deck and switch have shown battery is more important than screen res, especially if you’re targeting games that can’t run at Full HD on current hardware
@@AwSomeNESSS The thing is SteamOS has very little developer support. The fact it's just a PC makes all PC games run on it by default. I don't think Sony can do that. It would require them to shrink the PS5 down to a portable form factor which can't be done. That's kind of the disadvantage of consoles that we have to deal with. Your best bet with be to just buy a Steam Deck or wait for Valve to release a slimmer version which they have hinted at. The Deck is coming to Asia so a slimmer version for that region is already in the works.
When midrange smartphones have greater than 1080p displays, an ARM device should easily support 60+ fps on 1080p while getting good battery life. The only reason why Steam Deck had to be stingy w/ its screen was because it is basically a shrunken down PC, so it can't be as efficient.
I agree with what you said, it did too much. And that’s why I love it. It was a premium gaming device. Got it back in March 2012, and still have mine to this day.
With the PS Store closing down soon, I’ve bought a lot of PS1 Classics, and I’ve downloaded all my PS+ games throughout the years (been subbed since 2013 so trust me it’s a lot). The Vita is an amazing handheld that was not loved enough by Sony.
@@koladearasanmi2005 they walked back from their decision but I have a feeling they’ll try it again soon. It’s inevitable unfortunately. So currently no set date.
@@MexhomieXlll tbh I have all the consoles I can mod onto the Vita (the ones I care about at least). So modding is just too much of a hassle at this point
I think Sony is focused more on Remote Play, which for me has been somewhat a let down. I would be excited to see Sony release a cloud streaming service like nvidia geforce now (which is miles ahead) kind of like what PS Now used to be but better
Well they are heavenly focused on pushing PlayStation Studios as a separate thing with pc ports being a new thing at least on this scale, so playing games like God of War and really good games on the go like Journey make the Steam Deck a portable PlayStation in a way.
@PSVAndSwitchGTG homie, I can assure you the only person everyone here sees as pathetic is you. just log off and go outside for a little bit because you seem like you desperately need it.
I bought mine back in 2014. Was completely in love with it. It was so ahead of its time. There weren’t too many vita games that took my fancy but i enjoyed playing psp games on it
I think a PS vita 2 with the exact PS5 specs would be crazy good. 7” Oled 1080p screen with HDR. with usb c so you can plug in the PSVR2. Have the same dual sense features on the device as well.
Only if it comes out when the PS6 does, as it would take some time for the hardware in the PS5 to be optimized enough to be able to power and cool in a mobile profile. We can see something like this today with the Steam Deck having comparable performance to the PS4, and launching when the PS5 is still pretty new.
PS5 Specs?....and how exactly do you expect them to cool the device given the PS5 Console itself is half the size of a small fridge fir the purpose of air flow... lol Ideally you'd want the specs to sit somewhere between the Steam Deck and....ironically, the Series S. Midway between the 2 which even then is a really tough ask in a handheld at the moment.
I got a PSVita for my 19th birthday, and I just turned 30. I loved the idea of it and enjoyed Uncharted and Assassin’s Creed on it. I just wasn’t into the vast majority of games available on the Vita, and ended up using it more for Netflix if I wanted to watch something without being distracted by tabs, apps, messages, etc. I’m getting a Steam Deck tomorrow. Like you said if the Vita included more AAA games like the Deck is doing, I would gladly still be playing it today.
Still have 2 of them! Both the 2nd version. One normal black US version and a white Japan version. Absolutely love it. The battery is amazing, the size is perfect, it fits nice in hand, and there are so many awesome JRPGs to enjoy on it! I've hacked one of them and it's been awesome.
Nice little video about PS Vita in 2022. I remember back in the day me asking my parents to buy me a PSP, never got it lol. Now I'm blessed to have a PS5.
This thing is the most beautifully crafted gaming handheld ever made, I have one but unfortunately it got broken 5 years ago, I had games like wipeout 2048, fifa 15, the amazing spider man, street fighter x tekken, dead or alive 5+, killzone mercenary, uncharted golden abyss, tekken 6, nfs most wanted and few other games that I don't remeber their exact names. man I loved this thing.
@@blastu2fool I don't know for me it didn't look great because it wasn't actually designed specifically for the vita, it was a psp game that you could find in the vita's ps store, and psp games didn't generally look great, so the game's graphics were a bit on the poor side even with the OLED screen, but yeah that might be subjective after all.
This video made me start searching on eBay for a Vita. I never had a PSP before and always wanted a vita, the lack of games was discouraging back then but I totally forgot remote play was a thing!
I still have my OLED PS Vita! Just played some Gravity Rush today and forgot just how amazing this handheld was. Since its launch I have been a big supporter of the Vita and was really sad that Sony dropped support. I really wish it took off with the general audience, but I remember the memory cards and lack of constant support turning people away. With that said, it housed some of my favorite games and I'm sad what could have been. The Switch kind of filled that hole but it still isn't the same. I'd kill for another Soul Sacrifice game.
I loved my vita. My uncle worked in pawnshops and got me one when they first came out. My dad lived in Texas and I lived in Florida with my mom. I would travel a lot as a kid and portable consoles were my shit. The vita was so nice at the time it was basically like having a ps3 wherever u went
I got on the Vita train around 2015-2016, but I love to collect it and since then I have the OLED, OLED 3G, OLED CoD edition, 2 black slims, neon orange slim and aqua blue slim....oh and also a couple of Playstation TVs. A shame Sony decided to act like it never existed, lack of support and proprietorial and expensive cards was it downfall, but the awesome community keeps it alive and loved.
Metal Gear 1 and 2. Odín sphere. Muramass rebirth, Shantae hgh. Uncharted GA , Gravity Rush. Persona 4 Golden , God of War 1 and 2 , Sly Copper . Brüh I had so much fun with this handheld .
Just started getting back into trophy hunting, and I truly believe that getting a vita is a good way forward for me on my hunt! Great video! Got me wanting one even more! CeX selling them for 95 so think I’ll be taking a trip down the local shortly :D
I would still use my PlayStation Vita but its 64GB memory card, which I spent £60 on in late 2015, died last year! Considering I didn’t get my first iPad until 2019 and I’m still on the fence over getting an Apple Watch, I found the PlayStation Vita to be a great device, not just for gaming, but also a smart device I could use when I couldn’t turn to my iPhone! Due to the limited data allowance I had on my iPhone at the time, I was able to insert my backup PAYG SIM into my Vita and post on Facebook without draining my iPhone’s data allowance, its front facing camera meant that although I didn’t yet have an iPhone with one, I could Skype without holding my iPhone back to front! It was also the first device I EVER owned to have an OLED screen! I still have this trusty Vita today, but I really must look into that mod that replaces the SIM slot with a micro SD one, not only is my proprietary 64GB card dead, but also: 1. I like to keep my systems as authentic AS POSSIBLE (so if possible, I’d like to keep the original BIOS and still access the PlayStation Store) 2. Most of my Vita games are physical 3. My country’s 3G network may be turned off next year Either way, stay cool out there!
The mod allows you to keep everything looking authentic plus you still have access to PSN and the store. Definitely hack your system and install a MicroSD card. It's very much worth it.
I own one. Bought it three years ago secondhand for €85,- came with 8 GB memory card and a hard case. Played it for a time, but haven’t played it in months. Also own a switch but I don’t use that one either. But still nice to have the option to play if I want to.
hey man, i was just wondering if u have any extra psp consoles, cause i dont have money to buy some and i just started on looking forward on playing again cause i lost mine when i was kid
It's still worth buying if you're l looking to collect old consoles. I still have mine around somewhere and I've got a bunch of classic games downloaded. The size is nice and compact, convenient enough to put in your pocket, the screen is nice and crisp with vivid colors. Shame a lot of people underestimated this thing and I hope someday Sony comes back with a newer Vita to be compatible with the ps5.
If Sony were to work on a PS Vita two project, they should look at the Steam Deck as Valve has expressed their openness to others taking inspiration from the Steam Deck to create their own handheld. Sony should look closely at what is great about the Steam Deck and improve where it needs improvement. The Steam Deck is proof that handhelds can and have reached their new evolution in gaming and are able to run AAA games quite well all things considered. The sacrifices in graphics aren’t as drastic as the Nintendo Switch for third party games and it’s amazing. Would absolutely love to see a PS Vita 2 as powerful or possibly more powerful than the Steam Deck. It would be a massive win
The Vita was my all time favorite game console (not just portable) until I got a Steam Deck. I still love my Vita and grab it when ever I need something more portable, which can comfortably fit in a jacket pocket. The OLED model in particular looks great and feels solid and premium in the hand. It has a great library of games particularly when you take into account the PSP and PS1 libraries also available for it. And if you mod it...
Recently got a vita and modded it and so far I love it! I did make a new psn account to not risk my account so not being able to see my trophies is a bummer but being able to access all ps1, psp, vita, and all other retro games is a blast
The Vita has pretty much the perfect size for a handheld. It could be a little more ergonomic, and have bigger buttons. But it's more comfortable to play on compared to the Switch or 3DS.
I had a PS Vita on launch day back in 2012. Saved so much money for it I was obsessed with PSP and CFW when I was a kid. It was an OK console, I ended up selling it some years later. Once Sony dropped support the console was flooded with JRPGs. Western AAA publishers slowly pulled out. I just recently bought another Vita used to mod
I still love the Vita, a beautiful handheld and the fact it had so many RPGs it was ideal for me. Sad that they are unlikely to release a new one. I have the original and the slim, I don't see me giving them up for a while. PSVita 2022 😄
lol niceee....... btw, you have the games in the form of physical discs or digitally loaded into the ps vita? cause u know, physical discs have stopped selling years ago !
@@desiconvicted a mixture I got quite a few from being a PS Plus subscriber, I also have physical ones. I keep an eye on ebay for second hand ones I don't have :)
Last handheld console Ive owned were the Game Boy classic and Game Gear. Going to school and trading cartridges was the only thing that made school interesting.
Not only is it a monster to modify, it's the community underground devs who are doing some unbelievable work! I can't believe they're porting games from pc & android which takes the vita to another level.
Got the Vita on launch and had it for 8 years until I had to raise funds and sold it. A fantastic console with a core of great games and ideal to play psone and psp games out of the box. Remote play was hit and miss but the proprietary memory cards and the lack of support and commitment from both Sony and third parties mean it may be known more for unrealised potential than a true classic.
Just bought my first ever Vita today. With all the jailbreaks and mods, it just makes so much sense. To play old PSP games, PS1, and emulated games on the go is so smart.
I've hacked mine. Been almost a year, 250gb space, have 100+ games with a ps1 and a psp emulator installed. I've been able to play online with others, get trophies and get access to creator content and much more. It's amazing
I had an original OLED version at launch. unfortunately I had some unexpected expenses come up a few years ago and I sold it to my local game store I’ve always regretted selling it l. I am currently thinking about picking one up as I had a decent number of digital game’s I still would like to play. Thanks for your thoughts on the system. I wasn’t sure if the store was still open or not for the vita as I don’t see the games on PlayStation 3 like I used to.
I have a PS Vita oled I bought from my brother in law for $100. Bought a case and the sd card adapter and did the mods. It is still way beyond it's time. A great portable media powerhouse! I want to buy a glacier white or blue one now.

I've just rediscovered my ps vita, original, after several years of moving. Forgot how much I love this. I would love to see a ps vita 2 but with proper support this time.
Remote play & AirPods Pro’s I have the White PS vita it’s still useful without having to mod it. Remote play works with every PS4 game!! That OLED screen is beautiful
I have two ps vita’s in my collection. The piano black & the glacier white models. Both OLED I might add & I still travel with one or the other portables. Still use them faithfully to this day.
Ive been playing my PS Vita for the last 90 mins after watchig this vid. It's still so cool dude, Resogun runs like a dream, Destruction Derby and WipeOut - OMG! I've missed this thing!
Modded Vita owner here (PS4 too). It seems Sony has just given up on the Vita in all regards, as nobody has been banned yet for homebrew, pirated games, custom themes, anything. You are safe to mod it. Though if you're truly paranoid, you can actually set up a separate PSN account with all the mods and have the stock one on another sd card, kind of like dual booting.
I've been wanting one of these. Just love them an I've my launch psp an psp 3000 with the component cable's and factory clean. #psvita2022 Enjoyed Brother
I still got my oled vita since 1st launch! I hacked it last year and it was amazing! For about 5 days then became a useless brick after I jacked it up 🤦🏿♂️ wanting maybe the 2nd vita because it uses a better charger and it's more slim.
I have always wanted a Vita. I'm about to turn 33 in 2 days and it's still one of the biggest things I want. Crazy seeing how they have raised in prices. I owned the psp when it first came out. But the vita just looks beautiful
Ps Vita was already ahead of its time: 720p screen was so rare on that time but Oled display was even more rare! When it comes about homebrew, there is no limit! We definitely want a Ps vita 2!
You really got to make a follow up video for the Ps Vita. A modded vita is practically a different system. It really opens up the system to so many awesome games and emulation. You get classic PlayStation games, Emulation for every classic game system up to N64, perfect PSP emulation, a few ports of android games like GTA: SA and so much more. And the community gets bigger every year. If you every get a few free days you gotta mod it. Great video! PS Vita 2022
I 100% agree. Once you mod a vita it completely changes. You can have hundreds of great games on this little device with perfect controls. I have only had mine for 2 months and I am amazed that this thing is discontinued and has been for some time. I just can't understand it. I enjoy it more and more each time in play it. Still a very popular device as far as I can see.
I bought an OLED model for £50 last year off a mate, so nice to add this piece of hardware to my PlayStation collection, such a lovely bit of kit even in 2022
I have had mine since 2014, I loved playing Minecraft on it and its one of my happiest childhood memories. I got it along with the adventure pack with an 8gb memory card in it (if anyone remembers those) also like nobody else I knew had one until i went to secondary school lmao
i had the og one since release but then after many years it ended up getting broken. After years, I'm now feeling nostalgia so Ive ordered a new slim one off ebay. Cant wait to play my old games again!
I would love to see another version get a release. I had the psp but didn’t get the vita because by the time I wanted to get it, it was announced that it was being discontinued
Busy trying to platinum Sly Thieves in Time and Ys Dana. Love my vita. Its gone to several different countries with me. Near perfect console for me. Will be turning mine white soon!
