The government confiscated $5, $10, and $20 gold coins (you were allowed to keep $100 worth) using a presidential executive order (not even a law) in 1933. Non-compliance included a huge financial penalty and prison. The government did go after a handful of large scale violators, but they did not go after coin collectors.

In my experience, I’ve found pawn shops to be quite unfair in their prices. Better to do your research and find a reputable gold/silver shop who deals in Sterling silver. I have a collection of scrap Sterling, and a collection of “good”, whole Sterling pieces(flatware, creamers, etc). It may take a little digging and a few phone calls, but there are good shops who will work with you and give decent advice. But I’d definitely steer away from pawn shops.

this is why I save scrap copper instead; you can go to the junk yard recycle center and you can look up the spot price for copper and brass on the internet, they have to give you a set fair price according to the market that Day, coin shops and pawn shops can be too shady

I have yet to find gold or silver at a Costco. If I did, I would buy the max. A Costco cc rebate, no swipe premium, no shipping, & no tax. Everything else is blah blah blah. I don’t need any help. I am self educate and get it. Oh… gold is the most liquid market. There is always a buyer….is it the right buyer at the right price for you…, that is the key..,

I am surprised that Costco wants to sell gold since the profit margins are very slim unless they charge way more than coin dealers. It would be awesome is the retailers would start accepting gold to buy other things. Then, maybe, just maybe we can stop relying on the Federal Reserve.

I too am a huge Costco fan but when it comes to PM, sorry not for me. Valid reasons, LZ has mentioned many, lack of knowledge, no buy back program etc. My reason is I’ve been buying even before there was a Costco and have a relationship with reputable dealers and find that neither Costco nor Walmart has any price advantage, in fact I’ve gotten better prices from the dealers I buy from.

great presentation Lynette, thanks so much. something that scares me some is that I have been only buying PM and not selling, so when the revaluation happens and you pull the trigger, what is the safest way to trade PM for other hard assets? I dont mean "just swap PM for currency" I want advice like go to the LCS, contact the online bullion dealers, central banks. I'm kinda lost on this.

When you buy gold and hold it what happens when you need to cash some in and the dollar is devalued or collapsed. How does that work? My sons asked me that question when I told them I purchased gold from ITM.

Cashing in would make no sense unless you were cashing in for a good or service if the dollar were to collapse, so instead of doing that, you would just barter it for a good or service. It would have to be a pretty big one for an ounce of gold though 😉

I’ve been a Gold & Silver stacker for over 15 years now…. I just bought a tube of 25 Canadian Silver Maple Leafs from Costco for a little over $1 an ounce over the spot price. There is no bullion dealer that can touch that price. Canadian mint 100% safe, and real 99.9999 fine pure silver. That is a no brainer. This is the best deal on the planet. No need to spend extra money on numismatics…

The governments themselves and the so called “elites” would prefer us to be broke, desperate and eating out of their hands. But the gold companies are there to sell gold and they’re loving that business has never been so good. They’re making a fortune now and whatever gold they have acquired for themselves when the price rockets will see them into an early retirement. But I think they’re highlighting and focusing on gold more than silver. Gold will certainly eat into more of our hard earned money and it won’t make us as much profit as silver will. I’ve still bought into gold but the vast majority of my portfolio has been silver. I strongly believe that silver will become as expensive as gold, if not more so. At least for a while. When that happens, those who have been spending all of their hard earned money on gold at $2,400 (or thereabouts) will be pretty annoyed for paying that much on the ounce when silver was going cheap at around $30. I don’t think gold is a bad investment but silver wins hands down when it comes to future profits. I still plan to buy much more gold but not until it’s the same price as silver.

I was told Kitco has the real price. Most places I called gave me the run around. Would not give me a direct answer as to what is the actual spot price. Sketchy.

There is only one spot price. They have different prices because they add their premium which is the cost they need to add to function their business and make a profit. It’s no different than the cost of grocery items are different at different supermarkets. But remember that unfortunately the spot price is determined by the buying and selling of paper gold (futures contracts) not real gold. And the paper gold market (comex, London gold exchange, Singapore market etc.) is totally manipulated. They sell “paper” gold contract without actually owning the gold. This is short selling. So get out of the Fiat debt system and be patient. Gold is money. Currency is 100% debt / credit 👌 good luck !

List the metals yourself on an online market place. That is what I do. I would buy testing equipment and a scale so that you can prove it is real. I can sell for more than the dealers will pay and they can buy for less. Everyone wins.

Lynette: the "gubermint" is telling you to "buy and stock up", so when the retaielrs run a SQL query, they KNOW which door to knock on for the gold, the beans, the rice, the water. If any of the PM dealers cave, then YOUR information goes to the "gubermint", and they know where to go. I consider this a violation of the 3rd, 4th and 5th Amendment, so i will not comply.

Lynette has said in several of her videos, when buying gold ,buy collectable gold coins minted prior to 1933. The reason she says that if the government should ever call for a confiscation, they'll focus on gold bars not collectible coins because it't too complicated to deal with.

Bars have No Monetary amount Stamped on it and its easier to Counterfeit..SILVER Eagles COSTCO SOLD Out of and Cant obtain anymore which is Breaking SILVER Eagle Laws...Coins have Reeds and other hard to counterfeit stampings and Mint Marks. All gold will trade at the same price at some time. You are pushing high premium metal. Right now old US Gold in a circulated condition is the same price as bullion. Be very very cautious spending extra on a coin that has less than an ounce of gold.
