Unveil the purpose of Act 1 in your story as your character steps into the unknown, igniting their hero's journey. 🎭
Hey there, storytellers!
In this video, I dive into the essence of Act 1 in storytelling, where our character chooses to embark on a new journey. Remember how stories start? The hero, initially reluctant to abandon their comfort zone, eventually takes the brave leap into the unknown. This marks the true beginning of their story, signifying their transformation into the fool archetype. We'll delve into why this matters, how it impacts your narrative, and how you can leverage this in writing your novel or crafting your story. Tune in for insights on how to write act 1. Happy writing! 🖋️

I love the notion that a character is not only one archetype, but transforming from one to another depending on where they are in the story. Such a unique point of view. Edit: typo

So brief, yet so fulfilling... I am constantly amazed by how well you can distill such complex topics to their essential building blocks.

I would not say, it is the start of the character's willingness to step into the unkown. Often enough, there is no willingness, there just isn't any other option.

Might you say they come into willingness to accept that there is no other option other than to take that step? Or sometimes they go in kicking and screaming?

Nyanpasu , i guess some stories only take place in act one , the whole story is about them coming into contact with a fool(mentor) or an element of absurdity and only by accepting the fool can the main character become a fool themselves at which point the story ends

Since this video is just barely over a minute long, this and other videos like ot might be better used as Shorts. Just a suggestion, and I love your work

My character is actually willing to go out of his comfort zone. Would that be an issue? Does every character has to resist on this call to adventure?

I see stories as reflections of life. If your character is the sort of person who would resist, then you can imagine what scenarios would emerge from that. If they’re the sort to accept, I’m sure the patterns of life you’d imagine would be different. Either way it’s up to you
