Goodnite Bro. And that was a outstanding review of the Put Divison . Witch has alot of history Bro. The put Divison would've made money 💵 if it was still up and running today. But times had changed . Besafe Bro.
I grew up in the Bronx, born in 1975. I used to spend summer days fishing at Van Cortland Park. I remember fishing off that when it had rails on it still in the early 90's. I walked along the tracks- not the trail- all the way to Yonkers as a kid. Great days ❤
Those tracks ties is definitely over there for a reason. As you ride your bike pass Tibbitsbrook park look for the paint righting T 4 triangle. One of the workers told me that they are trying to get trains running again along side the trailer.. as you go back where the dibble trestles is by the lake at vancourtland park you will see another paint righting 104 on the ground.
I'm very glad that traces is on the way . Alots of Abandoned railroad s are definitely coming back slowly but surely. However if you pass tibbitsbrook park you will see the white spots four of them they are doing something over there. And just like you said they are tracing. Alots of people are definitely screaming for this old Putnam railroad trains to come back. It's definitely gonna look something like maybrook Connecticut. You know that maybrook has the rails and trails . That's the reason why they are cutting down alots of trees at the Putnam trailer. Something is coming back I'm telling you.
In 1971/72 as a child, we lived off Old Rte. 6 right next to the tracks, now The Empire State Trail, just west of Middle Branch Reservoir. The abandoned tracks was our playground. One time only we saw a locomotive slowly creeping along the overgrown tracks. Looked like a survey crew or something. They got to about our property, gave up and headed south again.
I used to walk on this bridge with my mom and her friend. i never thought anything of it. we used to feed the ducks in the lake. But i wouldve never imagined that there was so much history tied to this average looking bridge.
The old Box car will be ready remove real soon. Because they are planning big I'm telling you. Last year I walked to 230 street Broadway I saw the guys at 230 street doin the planning cameras . I saw them doing that same exact thing right at 231 street last summer and cutting down the grass and trees . You will also see some traffic cones . Something is coming back I'm telling you .
whenever you get the time please make more vids about the metro north , its origins , its secrets , and the branches/extensions and the lines that are gone and or here today that are still in service
If you guys went onto the bridge from the Bx6, you can see the railway when your on the Bx6, you can still see it near 161 street and river av, take the bx6 all the way to 161 Street, when you passing the under railway, that's the line
Good video but at the 3:10 mark you say that the last train ran in 1989. It is my understanding that the last passenger train was in 1958 and the last freight train was in 1982. Where did 1989 come from?
You might want to start creating and sharing KML files of the old ROWs that people could import into Google Earth. There's also a great resource out there (perhaps on the FRA website?) that details virtually all of the old railroad track in the U.S. dating back to forever.
Something is coming back I'm telling you. Even though they have the curve trailer at vancourtland park Putnam they are definitely setting up so you have to pay attention because it's telling you something right there. It's definitely gonna be something like maybrook Connecticut Trail rails . The same exact thing for the Putnam railroad line. When you pass tibbitsbrook park look for T 4 tryankl and the white lines.
They still have some at south county and the half of the old train tracks is still up. Half of the train tracks is still up for a reason. If you ever ride your bike or scooter 🛵 to south county.
They have still has those train tracks tie on the side for a reason if you pas vancourtland Putnam train station you are gonna see some repainted trestles on each side you are definitely gonna see some paint righting when you pass tibbitsbrook park 🏞️ you will see some white 🐻❄️ spots on them.
You know that they have some telephone wires up for a reason because they could always replace all the old railroad telephone wires. Another thing to they are definitely cutting down trees and cleaning up. However they are definitely planning something big I could definitely tell you that now. IF you ride pass tibbitsbrook right where the Putnam railroad tracks used to run look down on the ground and you will definitely see the spray paint righting T 4 triangle ▶️ and six white lines I'm telling.
They may have to use the private trains to run on the Putnam railroad line right next to the trailer along side just like maybrook Connecticut. I have a real spriital feeling that the CXS is gonna run on that line I'm telling you. Another thing they are definitely gonna make a stream to clean out the vancourtland park pond to travel down the Harlem river. That's the reason why the old box car is still there. Two years ago I had saw them spray the track rails in orange 🍊.
They might use the coaches for the Putnam railroad to pull with the diesels . The M3AS can not go on the putmam railroad line because it's a electric ⚡ trains and they have the contact shoes and you know that the m7As has to run by a Thrid rail and the M3AS has to run on the Thrid rails. Only the diesels and coaches could run all the way upstate where the Putnam railroad line used to run.
Listen they are gonna make a stream right along the Putnam railroad tracks. They are cleaning up the vancourtland park pond to travel down the Harlem river.
You know that there's is enough room for the train at Yonkers Birdge putmam could still fit on it on the empty space on it. If you look on your right side North you will see a double trestle and a fence covering it .I'm just letting you know that right now.
dude u know a abandoned line in westchester and in bronx next to the 1 isnt equal to building a new line were there isnt a line near by or it is overcrowded it likely get subway tracks if the one gets so crowded they need to exend the a
