Stroll blacking out, Albon Stroll and Ocon stumbling getting out of the car, Ocon vomiting mid race, Alonso's heat comment all show that this wasn't run in safe conditions, in addition to the Logan Sargeant retirement.
And it wasn't just Albon struggling to get out. Even Max, who seemed in pretty good condition in the post race interview, wasn't his normal athletic self when getting out of the car. I'm sure his win was part of the reason why he was back on his feet relatively fast. Same for Piastri and his comment in the winners-cubicle "Does anyone have a wheelchair?". This race will kill someone in the near future. Or at least leave them in the hospital with a heat stroke. This needs fixing.
Let's see... Stroll stumbled out of his car and blacked out, Ocon vomited in his helmet and also stumbled his way out of the car, Logan basically turned into a puddle, Alonso burned his ass from his own sweat, and Pirelli had tires that basically turned into jelly if they were on track too long. This is a track that absolutely needs to be taken off the schedule.
Just don’t put it when it’s pretty much the hottest temperatures. Put it later in the year and also it’s not the tracks fault that Pirelli won’t know how to make tyres
Yeah no, I was a bit sceptical about that. Because this wasn’t his fault (heck, he made the right choice) and they are basically starting to bully and mock him now. He had, except that sprint race spin, a good weekend where he was on pace with Albon, and he had the flu just a few days ago.
I think that's what Williams were thinking mid way though the race when he started reporting he felt unwell. I mean he struggles to keep on the black stuff when he is supposed to be well, we best get him in quick!!! 😂
To be honest Logan Sargent jokes seem bad form at this point. His life dream is going up in smoke in front of the world week by week, and it isn't lack of effort. It's a tricky car and his teammate has put in some terrific performances over the years. Logan's headspace has got to be terrible, let's not kick a man while he's down
Finally someone has some sense about the situation. Even if he doesn’t get a seat in 2025 I hope he finds somewhere else to be successful as he has proven earlier on that he does have skill as a driver back in his prema days and earlier. He doesn’t deserve the hate he gets in my opinion
not at all. the cockpits of the cars were around 55 degrees celcius. They then have to drive a car to such a limit that even at a regular race they lose 2 kilograms of weight from the pure stress it puts on the body and the extreme heat makes all of that 10 times worse.
@@FP1Will Will, your "comedy" reviews have slowly become my preferred way to rewatch/recap race weekends; you hardly miss any details. Also, kudos for the starfox track.
To illustrate how bad Checo's race has been, he was fighting Gasly and Stroll for P9 while his teammate doubled him. Also Russel despite being yeeted at lap one behind the south american driver went to P4 while Perez was still around P10
@@cdel4391hes referring to Helmut calling Perez a South American. Helmut thinks Perez isnt skilled enough because he's South American according to him.
@@khalidmartie5854 That's not what Helmut said. He said that Checo's "south american" passion sometimes gets the better of him. It's not a race thing, it's a culture thing. And it's not a skill thing, it's a passion thing.
As a lewis fan i really appreciate checo going out of his way to keep the fight for p2 in the wdc nice and close even after lewis decided he'd prefer to inspect turn 1s gravel trap and then take a leisurely stroll across the circuit
Suprised you didn't mention the absolute disrespect the F1TV Commentary gave to Daniel Riccardo saying that no one has won for McLaren in over a decade...
The team will have financial backing from General Motors iirc. GM may be a lot of things, but in a sport where money talks, their financial prowess shouldn't be underestimated. I definitely don't see them becoming a top team at the get-go, but I think they could be more competitive than some people may give them credit for.
I like serious F1 commentary as much as the next guy but this comedic take on a F1 weekend is just hilarious and while I normally don't like laughing at others misfortunes, it's all in good fun (well for us anyway, lol).
If you wonder how bad it was for the drivers this race - raise it up by 2 orders of magnitude. 33*C heat + polar expedition clothes + nearly 2h of driving on the limit as the tyres weren't allowed to deteriorate. I have had the Logan Sargent experience early this year hydrating myself poorly and racing 25km on the karting track in 28*C wearing T-shirt! On the last lap I thought I will throw up and my arms had not enough strength to turn this wheel - I had to back out or I would crash. These guys deserve a big round of applause for their superhuman performance (including Logi Bear) - Lets just hope that next year November Qatar GP will be much milder than this "hell of a race".
Laughing about Sangent being a disappointment while running sick is pretty icky, if you ask me. Also, the Bri'ish YT Aaahrmee not seeing the great picture with PER does not surprise me.
As ever, a great video on the whole weekend's action! Very funny and factual. Any nonsubscribers, come on, it doesn't cost you anything! Ever since I first heard James Vowles on the radio, and then doing Mercedes' "answer the questions" RU-vid videos, I've liked the guy. He's straightforward, will say what is wrong if something is wrong, but at the same time doesn't give the impression that he's anyone's fool. Tonight, hearing him tell Logan that there's no shame in being sick and to come to the pits (in the second communication I heard. No idea what was said in-between, if anything), but leaving the decision up to the young lad (to me, most of the grid is filled with young lads), just reinforced that. It showed respect for Logan, too, as the obvious answer was for him to retire the car, but given his current woes, he may have been trying too hard. He even said - I think to his engineer - that he was being honest about being sick, and IIRC, that's when Vowles stepped in to tell him it was okay to return to the pits (in the first "chat" about it.) I know that numerous other team bosses in the past would have flipped out if their driver retired sick. Not all, the vast majority wouldn't be so crass, but definitely some of them would. ::cough::Enzo::cough:: I think James was trying to tell Logan (without being too specific because he knew the message would get played and the media would take anything potentially related to the contract and run with it) that this wouldn't affect his decision regarding said contract. Much kudos to him for that IMHO. He's turning out to be a very good and very capable boss. On the other hand, it's been the Max & McLaren show all weekend and it's thoroughly deserved. Congratulations to all three drivers and both teams! And a big shout out to Russell for his fight back into 4th, especially given where Perez, in the "best car on the grid" (imagine a Max-hater whining tone), finished up. I'm not sure if the facts changed after one of the commentators said that Max was the only one who hadn't got a black & white flag, but that does help illustrate the chasm of difference between him and Perez (that boy is his own worst enemy!) Hearing GP tell Max to go faster "sustainably" was hilarious IMHO. I have no idea why that was even wanted given that he was so far ahead! Jolyon Palmer unusually got a fact wrong in commentary in saying that Piastri's win was the first McLaren win in many years (that may not be the exact wording, it was the exact meaning, I'm sure, because of the tone of voice he used), obviously thinking back to the Lewis/JB days. It's not been so long since Danny Ric won in Monza! A few years, sure, but "many"!?
On that regard of telling Max to go faster, if I remember it well, that's what he usually did say to Vettel as he perhaps wanted him to push even further into the limit of the car, somewhat nostalgic tbh.
I feel the atrificial tire lap limit made the race interesting. It looked to have kept certain cars that probably suck at tire life in the race for a little longer to allow for more on track action.
@Croga damn... you got a point there. It just seemed they were lacking general pace. 🥲 at least they didn't knock themselves out first turn (I'm not crying at all)
Stroll *standing in front of his car just announced for joining the WEC; a series that has had a huge recent increase in success due to the amount of new teams joining* says that one of the most highly followed franchises in motorsports shouldn’t be allowed to join F1. Kind of sums him up perfectly.
I would so much rather have Paul Ricard back in rotation! At least the track has character with the funny lines and isn't just a long car park drive way in the middle of a desert that destroys tires in about 6 laps
Hard to know what Sargent's Williams mechanics would prefer, a complete rebuild of the car in-between sessions or cleaning puke, pee and code brown out of the cockpit. I suspect a pay rise would be in order but the budget is already blown on repairs and cleaning products. At least Sargent is only breaking cars unlike Stroll who has decided to not only break cars but crew as well now. Every time I see the Aston garage now the song "Kung Fu Fighting" will be playing in my head.
FIA took the money from Qatar, forgot to check if the track was really good, and had to do damage control because they fucked everything up.... Congrats FIA.
amazing to see mclaren fighting for top , Max and Landos banter with breaking the trophy :p - rip to hamilton.. With Logan having to retire, Alex and Ocon struggling to get out of the car, Alonsos bum being hot (bucket of water) , piastri laying on the ground in the cool down room and even seeing verstappen struggle a little to get out of the car, everyone had massive fatigue. It just shows that this race was probably the hottest in a long time and almost to a dangerous level.
mclaren on a podiumstreak... tell that to anyone the the beginning of the season and they would have asked if you forgot to take your meds. at the rate they are gaining points now, they might even get p3 in the consturctors. they basicly have cought up to AM now
Its hilarious when will makes jokes about drivers you dislike but when its the turn of your favourite drivers it feels like he’s roasting you- and you just got to take it
Bahrain 2005 is probably more comparable than indy from the same year tbh Lando's attitude whenever he's been outperformed on merit has always stuck out to me, he was incredibly passive aggressive when Daniel had outmatched him at Monza two years ago and then again today with Oscar, like yeah obviously you were faster than Oscar after he came out of the pits you've already gone through tyre warm up, on every other lap of the race though Oscar has had you matched and even surpassed. I like McLaren and genuinely think Lando could be great, I also feel like he's gotten way too comfortable with being McLaren's golden boy though and ever since Sochi 2021 where he tossed away his first win he's been a bit eager to get favorable team orders.
Ngl the race would've been good if the Pirelli's weren't made of tissue paper and they didn't schedule it in one of the hottest and most humid times of year for Qatar, maybe next time let's not try to kill the drivers
This race should have been cancelled, this was so dangerous for the drivers. Lance passing out in corners, Sargeant retiring, Ocon barely being able to get out of the car. This was too much.
A worse race? Read the Wikipedia page for the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix. 38c on a disintegrating track, won by the elder Rosberg. What’s not in the article is that a driver - I believe it was Prost - had to be removed from his car by the crew, as he was incapable of removing himself.
Usually i dont like adults playing in sandpits but i quite enjoyed this weekend. A new winner, champ crowned, top drivers out of position for the race, tyre madness, exhausted drivers and the Mercs doing an homage to Max by crashing out like in his first win.
What i find funny about the FIA tyre debacle is the fact that MotoGP runs this track since years and now that they upgraded the kerbs its like a deathtrap for the MotoGP riders.
Interestingly, Verstappen isn't the only driver who became a champion on a Saturday due to a rival's crash. Piquet became the 1987 champ, because during qualifying to the Japanese GP Nigel Mansell crashed ending his season due to injuries.
I find it ironic that Max finds himself in the opposite situation to that which his father faced in 1994. Whereas Jos was completely outclassed by Michael Schumacher that year, now Max is the dominant one with a teammate who simply can't keep pace.
max on track to double the points of 2nd place M. Verstappen 433 S. Pérez 224 L. Hamilton 194 F. Alonso 183 138 points up for grabs max may be the first to get 500 points in a year
I thought youd delay the video a little to check the conditions a lot of drivers ended up on. It kinda feels out of touch to mock them after the race, especially Logan, taking care of your health is more important than taking care of that seat, even Williams acknowledged that on the radio.
People talk about Perez not being fired, but hear me out: He finished second in the championship, got his annual race win and managed to NEVER be in the way of Verstappen (including making him champion as soon as possible). What more can Redbull want?
This was the first news I heard stating the Valkyrie will FINALLY race at LeMans, Daytona, and Sebring. A V-12 prototype! There is actually a clip here on YT of them running the engine in a LeMans simulated dyne run, and it is GLORIOUS when it starts the pull on Mulsanne. There is a reason I am an endurance fan (for a very long time). Now there is no point in really watching F1 when GROUP C has made a de facto return.
Great video! And oh the flashbacks to Indy when Pirelli basically said "would you mind not racing too much on our tires?". On the other side seeing the drivers look absolutely cooked after the race was a bit disconcerting.
Can someone explain how Chico still has a ride? RB has pulled the trigger so fast on so many, what does Perez have over them that he's still in that seat?
The race had a certain level of unpredictability due to the mandated three stops, which meant that, behind Verstappen, the order of the drivers kept shuffling. However, I didn't see too many overtakes, because after a stop, there was not enough of a tyre life/grip advantage to come close enough and pass. So if the FIA is contemplating on making this a regular thing next year, I hope they don't, because this wasn't good racing.
What did I think of the race? After the initial lights out and away we crash...NFL Redzone provided more entertainment and that was with the forced pit stops.
Great and well deserved snarky comments on a GP marred by the multi-dimensional ineptitude of the FIA - not to mention Lewis' rookie impulse on turn 1, lap 1. This was my first viewing of your channel and I decided to subscribe. Looking forward for more. The F1 people take themselves way too seriously, and they deserve as much sarcasm and impertinence as can be thrown at them. Good for you! (from a man born 10 miles north of Spa-Francorchamps, but a US citizen for 50 years. Still an F1 fan.
Qatar needs to be taken of the schedule although williams will be happy Sargeant had to retire without causing damage to the car cause let's be honest it was gonna happen
ground effect has played a part for years hence the fitting of a plank. Schumi disqualified for plank wear 1994 belgian grand prix. Clever clogs tut tut@@gandalf_thegrey
Lance didn't settle for "one of his engineers" ... he settled for his "performance coach" and who could blame him, considering his performance or rather lack thereof. Plus, the dude completely ignored that unwritten rule, better think twice before approaching a racing driver wearing his helmet in the garage... so all, hunky dory, one would think, except, Lance alerted the "FIA Compliance Officer" who deemed this kind of behaviour "just not on" and not to be in compliance with the "FIA Code of Ethics"... welcome to F1 2023! 🤣🤣🤣
When 2 years ago Qatar earned the 2021 F1 GP calender spot during the pandemic on a short notice, besides of the doubts for the choice regarding the track being originally for Moto GP, however good drivers feedback post GP showed otherwise, being actually enjoyable track to drive on. Where the weather condition wasn't a concern at that time, where it was already a nice of no more than 29c to 30c highest, and 20c lowest of 21s November weekend. Next years 24 QA GP already announced for 29th Nov to 1st Dec, for a definitely cooler conditions as the weather will get cooler further into late November early Dec in the GCC region. Complementing an already brand new track facilities and an already Qatars successful background of hosting global sport events. So let us enjoy the sport like all fans around the world, and get used to it, for the remaining 10 years of the contract.
Maybe HAM should focus on racing, instead of trying to sue Hamilton watches over it's name. Hamilton watches has been been making watches since the mid 1800s
