Thanks for all you do! I had this same question on a ged practice test and I took a picture of it to study . Well you only get to pick one answer on the test the negative answer or the positive answer . Both answer where on the test . How do I know if I picked the right one when both answers are on the test?
Mr. Weiss, the example on my GED study guide is 4x^2-x-5=0 . When I type this into the calculator it results in an error message. After searching google I realized that the discriminant is less than zero, which explains the error, but how would we handle a situation like this on the GED? Complete the formula by hand? Thank you.
Actually both solutions are correct here. In other words there are two values of x that make this equation true. Another way to look at this is as follows: If you were to graph the equation y=5x^2-4x-6, you would see that there are 2 places where the graph crosses the x-axis. In short, where this graph crosses the x axis will be the same as the two x values I solved for in the problem.

@@dinaedwared8856 it was really hard I’m surprised how hard it was I don’t want to make you afraid but it is I study like crazy 8 hours a day and look I got 146 I was planning over 165 . By the way I’m 37 years old. The question was very complicated it makes me really tired like fighting. I wish you the best
So did mine but figured it out. Do you know where he said click the right arrow between a and the C? Only select the right arrow once. I selected it twice and got the domain error.
Hey, word of advice. Try working on less complicated questions while studying for the GED. Understanding concepts like, area, perimeter and the volume of shapes will help. Knowledge of Ratios, Interest Rates will also increase your chance of passing. The GED tests aren't designed to be passed completely, in fact really it's made to test your general understanding of high-school subjects. Hypothetically you can pass the GED without getting any single algebra question right IF you're proficient enough in majority of the other topics. Lastly really memorizing the way the word questions are asked and filtering out the stuff that is unnecessary! I can send you a few video links that will guarantee your passing and/or direct you to what SPECIFIC things to learn :).
@@browniebrownie7430 the aren’t designed to pass part is right!! Everyone says oh you can pass without knowing quadratics yeah right! That test is hard asf and if you don’t know how to do quadratics you popped😭 best to get a tutor and learn this 💩 cos I’m telling yuh the point’s lay right in that section even though people say it doesn’t. I’ve failed it twice. The stuff taught on these videos ain’t even on the exam. They switch it up and f^ck you up 😫😂
I have to be honest this is a horrible experience.. pay a professional to solve the problem what is this even part of any test . I’ve never In my life been given a problem like this to solve . Never not once in my adult life .!
