Good job on the series. Never done one of these before and I like the big ships of old so I decided to start with this one. A little more complicated than I thought but not hard, just real SMALL! Can probably fit one it in a bottle :-) Decided to get a magnifying headband thingy and a nice set of plyers and (Tiny) cutters after I opened the box and saw what it was going to be like. (Never thought I'd find a video on one here! so thanks BTW) These aren't like the old Revel hotrods and various WWII planes I did as a kid. Yours turned out very nice! I'm looking forward to getting mine together.
Thanks for the watch, and best of luck on your build! There are some very tricky area's on this one (the lanterns come to mind) but all in all the difficulty lies more with the scale than the complication. Should you move on to the others in the line beware of the cannon's on the Dutchman. There are a ton of them and my fingers were killing me after getting them all rolled!
It's definitely an awesome piece to have in your collection but I can't speak to your skill level. It definitely pushed mine! Thing is, I wasn't sure if I could do it when I picked it up either. You'll never know unless you try!
I'm not sure it's good advice, but what I did was pick the entry point that was easiest to access from the bottom and used it to "test" each of the masts to make sure the tabs were aligned properly. Then I went in from the top of the deck and got the center piece in place and secured before (very carefully) adjusting the fore and aft masts until they slid into place. I remember the aft mast was an absolute nightmare with all of the other detail around it.
