Fun fact: Their father, Laslo polgar, tried to conduct an experiment on his children to prove the theory that "Talent is bred from childhood" and introduced his children to chess at a very young age. He showed them nothing but chess in their early days. This is how they are so good at chess.
@rumblefish9
@rumblefish9 2 года назад
Lazlo didn't just train them, he put the genuine love of the game in them. He never pushed them when they didn't want to play and made it fun and enjoyable so that they attached good memories when playing. He believed that training plus favorable circumstances would mold a genius. He originally wanted Susan to train in math but it was Susan who chose chess after finding her father's chest set.

@Kertan Rajpal I don't think the tournament director saw that, it happened really fast you can see that the footage is slowed down in order to show the moment he lets go of the knight then moves it again, anyways not to find excuses it was cheating and it costed her the game cause it would've been a draw if he didn't do that as she had a nice fork by the bishop attacking the queen and rook and the knight would've been covering the only defender of that square, also one more thing he wouldn't necessarily lose the game but they would add time to Judit

There is no shame to losing to a woman. Even though people make gender an issue they shouldn’t. It should be about the ability to play high level chess and that has nothing to do with being a man or a woman. The only reason there aren’t more Judit’s out there is because many woman haven’t tried or are discouraged but it has nothing to do with ability. @Cancel Patrick Everyone _can_ technically do anything these days, that doesn't mean that the social fabric that currently exists predicates upon that belief though. People tend to be the product of their environments and it so happens that we live in a society that heavily discourages women from a very early age from pursuing more competitive or creative careers. There is certainly a gigantic gap between the number of male to female players, but I wonder how much of that is due to the social issue I just mentioned. Certainly, if we got rid of that stigma, we would see the numbers increase, though I doubt it would every amount to a 50/50 fraction. Maybe it would switch from the current 16/1 to maybe 16/4. The goal is to encourage people to pursue what they desire, and to claim no social stigma exists is utter ignorance.

But I am not sure what you're getting at and can't say if I'm missing the mark or not. At the end of the day he took back what he said about her and women in general, which is a step forward as a person. Polgar is an example of how far you can get with hard work, but she was unwilling to sacrifice the rest of her life to be the very best, something top chess men seem to be more willing to do. But despite the difference between them in focus and effort, she still got in one win. How much more Polgar might achieve if she was more dedicated. But I'm sure she's happy with what people and things she decided to be dedicated to instead. Part of growing up is figuring out those priorities and a solid person does what they want and not just what others want of them.

Judit is arguably the best women chess player ever. She has won against most of the male IGs, including Kasparov. I think it's odd there haven't been many other women who could challenge the top male players over the past 5 decades.
@FantoSunbae
@FantoSunbae 3 года назад
Kasparov beat her 12 to 1, with 4 draws. She won a single game. In chess, when playing at the high levels, you have multiple games, sometimes even 15 straight games. Judit has never won a set, or a series with any top male player. the hype is over one win out of 17 games. It isn't odd there haven't been many other women who could challenge the top male players, because it's isn't common. No woman is at their level, it's just fact. Judit is a good player, compared with other women, but she barely survives Kasparov, or anyone else.

There will be a time with a world champion who is female and dominating all others. And then no one will ever say again stupid shit about women playing chess. Women are as talented as men in chess. But there are simply much more men playing chess than women, so statistically seen it is not surprising that the best players are male. If there only very few women who play chess, then it is very likely that the ratio of women in the Top 100 will be about the same as the ratio of women among all chess players.

***** I disagree. One can say that statistically, men have better results than women, which does not mean men are better than women, because it's a value judgement and cannot be objective. You can say statistically Real Madrid has better results than Deportivo La Coruna, but Deportivo could defeat Real in a match next week or Deportivo has defeated Real on some occasions in the past. But maybe in the following 50 years, Deportivo might statistically have more wins over Real Madrid. A thousand men could defeat a billion women, but a hundred women could also defeat a billion men.
