The anthem is not specifically about the Queen, it's about the monarchy, the head of state, and the nation as a whole. There are more verses that are about Britain, they're just never usually sung. So I expect she sees it as having a higher meaning, and not about her individually.

Just a correction, we gave it away because we couldn't afford it anymore, we didn't try to take it back because the days of Empire was over, France tried to keep their and failed while bankrupting themselves. We used our heads and gave countries independence when we prepared them for it......except in Africa.

The people of a country have the right to decide themselves whether to be independent or not and the coloniser has to go with that decision. If not, there would be repercussions to face. In the past this might not have been the case, but can you imagine having a country like India still a colony of the UK and the Indians doing nothing about it! I guess not. Aside from that, colonising countries also has a down-side to it, one of them being the great number of immigrants that the UK has nowadays...in fact in London alone, some 60% of the population is not of English decent. And needless to say the English people are not very happy about this.
