We had a blast in Westeros ya'll! Thanks for being along with us on our GOT & HOTD ride! We cannot wait for more shows to drop in this universe, bc we WILL be watching them ASAP! Love you all!
I'm really in the minority but I loved this finale and I enjoyed the whole season. It certainly sets up season 3 perfectly. I thought the acting was stellar all season and I really enjoyed it in this episode. I'm a die hard fan of Ser Simon and Halaena now. They were the VIPs this season for me. I've really enjoyed watching this with y'all and I'm looking forward to watching the other spin-off with y'all next year!
This season was planned to be 10 episodes right up to one month before filming when HBO got cold feet about finances with the threat of strikes looming and so closed their purses and said it had to be 8 episodes. So they only had one month to do rewrites, which ultimately episode 9 and 10 material is pushed back to early next season. They weren’t allowed to do rewrites during filming because of the writers strikes as the writers are American. They were allowed to film only because the British actors are part of a different union and they were allowed to work still. So this season would’ve finished off on some crazy epic stuff if not for getting screwed over by the strikes
@@catiebeansit was around the time everything was getting delayed of writer strikes, there was multiple sources saying Hotd was being postponed or Hotd is on hold due to writers strike
It sucks, because it made the season lame. IMO anyway. It was a lot of nothing. A lot of wheel spinning. So I guess it was typical GRRM. Meandering without advancing the plot.
Vikings & then Vikings Valhalla, Peaky Blinders, Dark, Squid Game, The Last Kingdom are all world building & lore type of shows & I think you’d like them.
This season shows the beginning of the war, the preparation... the battles do not start from one day to the next... there were 10 episodes and I'm sure it would have been perfect but despite this the series is still magnificent, the music, the performances, the shots... the third season is going to be the strong one, not even the prompter will survive. I liked seeing how Raenira has tried to avoid war, in a single battle two dragons died! It's going to be horrible. When Raenira says "who's going to pay for it?" You can hear the dragons roar...it hasn't happened yet and I'm already crying. I love dragons so much
I loved season 2 and I loved the finale. Of course, I don’t watch so much for the action. It’s just extra sprinkles on the everything else. The acting was next level, the dialogue top notch, and the production was just plain gorgeous. I’m really old and I just updated my bucket list to contain living to see season 3 of HotD.
I originally found you guys in the early days of your Game of Thrones reactions, but I’m going to continue to support y’all until you don’t want to do this anymore. Thank you Brooke and Tony for being your wonderful, insightful, compassionate, authentic selves! 💖
Allicent didnt have to give up Aeomond she assumes he will die in the battle anyway and yes that was a new dragon with the hightower army Daeron"s dragon tesserion the blue queen
I always point out that Tyland/Kevan is the same actor who played Ser Hugh of the Vale in GOT (guy who caught a shard of wood to the throat at the tourney in season 1) I wonder if the pirate commander that likes Tyland is myabe a son/daughter of the Crabfeeder from Season 1. I think it could be a possibility but only based on their names. His name was Drahar, hers/his is Lohar. The identical letters are a common indicator of family ties. Like "Ty" being in so many Lannister first names.
🖤🖤🖤I know a lot of the tiktok crowd probably expected boombastic explosive carnage and war, but honestly, they packed A LOT of details, fantastic dialogue, setup, development and laid extensive groundwork for what's to come, that is necessary to keep up with the quality we have come to know and love. Were there flaws, of course, but overall, an excellent show and I for one can't wait to see what transpires next, whether they stick to more book lore or throw some curveballs remains to be seen.
I liked the finale, I loved the season and I adore the show. I can't wait for season 3. The set up for the battle was packed with details, dialogues so well written and wonderfully acted, I couldn't care less about the pace, this season had everything that the last two seasons of GoT were lacking. People will never be happy. It's been a pleasure watching the show along with you, the way you pick up on every single detail and nuance and not let anything go unnoticed is amazing. Looking forward to season 3 🙌🐉
11:10 Yeah, Aemond’s youth really shows when his voice goes high but Alicent hitting him is cute now that she can’t reach his head like how she used to do with Aegon.
Wish they didn't have to cut episodes 9 and 10 so we could have seen a big battle, but it is what it is. We'll get a bloody season 3. Regardless, I loved this season. Gonna miss all these characters.
Decent finale - now for the long wait... In the meantime, I would love to see you guys react to "Dark". It's a phenomenal show that I think would be right up your alley!
Easter Egg: The Weirwood at Harrenhal has a special face, that of the creator, George R.R. Martin... all hail! The creature in the Godswood at Harrenhal was a Greenman. They are an ancient sacred order charged with protecting the Isle of Gaces in the Godseye lake. In the visions Daemon had, we see Ser Brynden Rivers, bastard son of King Aegon IV, aka Bloodraven, the man who would later become the Three-Eyed Raven and teaching Bran Stark to succeed him as the Three-Eyed Raven. After Daemon, Bloodraven also wielded Dark Sister, one of the two Valyrian steel ancestral swords of House Targaryen. There is a not-so-popular, yet interesting, theory that Daemon and Bloodraven are the same person. We will see more of Bloodraven in HBO's new upcoming series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but not until season 3 of that show, if they match 1 book to 1 season. That show centers around a wandering Hedge Knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his loyal squire, Egg. "Egg" is short for Aegon, as in Targaryen, future King Aegon Targaryen, Fourth of his name. But only Dunk, Egg, and Egg's father know Egg's true identity. You may remember in Game of Thrones, when Maester Aemon was dying he was talking to his little brother, Egg, that's this Aegon. So we will also get to see a young Maester Aemon, and I am hoping we also get to see a young Lady Olenna Tyrell. I think that's who Maester Aemon was referring to when he told Sam he had once been in love. On a side note, Ser Duncan the Tall is the grandfather of Hodor and great-grandfather of Brienne of Tarth. The show is titled, "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms," and will be released early next year, so your break from Westeros will be significantly shorter than you thought. 😉✌️
There's definitely an element of breaking the wall about the "it's just a story" part, which is not just a nod to GRRM himself, but also to various classics of literature and drama that both GRRM and the writers of the show have been inspired by; Shakespeare definitely comes to mind, not just in terms of the comments of Macbeth (who Stannis is very clearly modeled after) about people being transient actors on a stage, but perhaps more emphatically in the lines of _The Tempest_ where Prospero is practically speaking to the audience when he says: *_Our revels now are ended. These our actors,_* *_As I foretold you, were all spirits and_* *_Are melted into air, into thin air;_* *_And like the baseless fabric of this vision,_* *_The cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces,_* *_The solemn temples, the great globe itself,_* *_Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,_* *_And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,_* *_Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff_* *_As dreams are made on, and our little life_* *_Is rounded with a sleep._*
@Monkeynut358: Of course the writers understand it. They're professional television writers, they have a pretty good idea about what they're doing. And what I'm saying is certainly not "nonsense"; not really sure what part of it you're struggling with either, it's quite straightforward.
47:47 You got the twins mixed up I think. Tyland sits the green council and was told by Aemond to broker alliance with triarchy. Jason is marching the Lannister forces from the westerlands through the riverlands. Before moving forward Jason wanted aerial support from Vhagar more specifically knowing Caraxes/Daemon are at harrenhal.
Rhaenyra placing a feast in front of new dragon riders, when their people (at least Hugh’s wife) are starving is a big miscalculation. Serve ham sandwiches and pass around a bowl of Doritos, don’t rub their noses in the fact that royals have not gone hungry.
Not sure if will be your thing but I highly recommend the wire and the sopranos if you haven’t see them yet, I’d love to see your reactions to either of those 🎉❤
Uh yeah, Ulf, he gives lowborn commoners a bad name. Be in their best interest that he had an "accident" before Silverwing gets too attached. Harrenhall was good for Daemon, it humbled him and showed him the reality of the situation with the future. Brynden Rivers aka the Three Eyed Raven, is the future great grandson of Daemon, the white walkers, I believe the massacre of the Dragon Pit, Daemon drowning in the Godseye, which is that body of water near Harrenhall that has the Isle of Faces on it. The eggs in the fire could be Dany's eggs but I think it may be the Tragedy of Summerhall, which nearly wiped out the Targaryen line. This happened with the Mad King's grandfather and the Mad King was a young boy at this time. And the last Dany with her three dragons. And remember, like Game of Thrones don't get attached to characters. 😟
As for Alicent's decision, it somewhat makes sense in a twisted way. Sacrificing Aegon (who for all she knows is so far gone he might even want to end it himself) and Aemond who has it coming regardless. In exchange for the lives/freedom of her daughter Haelena, her granddaughter, her other son still in Oldtown, her brother/father and her own - as well as the countless innocent people and soldiers that could be spared.
Her father, brother and Daeron, her youngest son will also die should Alicent successfully execute what she proposed. Gwayne will die in the very same battle as Aemond and Cole would since she gave up all 3 of their locations. Otto would be executed for his part in the coup. After Aegon and Aemond dies, Daeron would be the next in line from the Green faction and their supporters would rally behind him so Rhaenyra needs him dead too. Alicent decided to just save Helaena and Jahaera and let the rest die including Daeron, the kind son who wasn’t even a part of the scheme and Aegon the son who didn’t want any of this and was forced by her to take the throne. Truly a paragon of parenthood.
@@mahirabrar9110 Be that as it may, at this point, it’s either the potential to only spare/save her daughter and granddaughter or likely none at all, if she doesn’t act in this way - both in lieu of the opposition’s grown force and her realizing the grave errors of her ways
It’s very different from what you guys normally watch, but I think you would fall in love with Haunting of Hill House! My mom, who does not like spooky things at all, finally caved and watched it with me (though I did have to warn her before any jump scares) and thought it was an absolutely beautiful story.
ackpttt true detective is just on the right side of sucks. Stick with the medieval fantasy based on books, go with The Last Kingdom. Plenty of seasons and each episode gets better as each season gets better. Very few shows ever can say it gets better each season.
Honestly, I feel like Jace catches so much overblown hate when he arguably did the most to help House Black's cause this season for the war. He secured the support of two big houses and their armies in the north (The Starks and i cant remember the 2nd house), he went out and treatied with house Frey to get their support and open the bridge to allow quicker passage to solidiers, and he was the one who introduced the idea of finding riders for unclaimed dragons. Also, while he could of phrased it better, he brought up a good point questioning the new dragon riders... Addam of Hull and Hugh Hammer seem like they have great character, respect & loyalty...but then there is Ulf..who could be a wildcard and an idiot. I get it was needed because of this war in the short term, but i feel like Jace is also looking longterm when he brings up 'what if one of these new riders disagrees with your claim to the throne or your cause after you won...whats to stop them from challenging the throne.
+1 to Spartacus. I actually liked that series more than GoT, (both aired around the same time). And I never see any one do reactions to it, though it might be tough to edit for youtube with all the TV-MA content.
FROM is a good show. It's from the producers of LOST and it's currently about to start its third season on September 22nd. There's a lot of mystery and fiction stuff, pretty chilling.
I completely understand that she has got to take Agon head but technically otto and Alicent placed him there .At least we have A Knight of the seven kingdoms next year then house of the dragons in 26 . Its going to be totally 🔥🔥 season 3 Team black all the way ❤
19:49 so this is a really cool Easter egg. Harrenhal there is a big lake and in the middle there is an island called the isle of faces there is a ton of werewood trees there and it’s said some of the children of the forest live there. But the men are called green men and they take care of the trees they are unknown to what they look like some say they are man some say beast some say they wear antlers some say they grow them. So it’s interesting we see him right before daemon has his visions
You want world building, check out The Karate Kid movies and then Cobra Kai, which just released Part 1 of its final season last month. Part 2 comes out 11/15 and the final 5 episodes air February 2025.
I do not get the hate. And I thought GOT 7 was questionable with a few good scenes. 8 was an absolute failure. HOTD season 1 showed the lead up and reason the war would even exists. It's like a prologue. Season 2 is a true chapter 1 full of character introductions. I enjoy fleshing out everyone. Even though they had to rush, I feel like I know the individual players. I wasn't expecting all war scenes since GOT was fought mostly with words and whispers. The big battles weren't every episode then either.
The people complaining are only here for the crazy scenes and spectacle. This season was great with the character and conversations peak GoT was known for. Sucks the two episodes were cut from the season during the strikes. We may have scene a giant battle if they were allowed to rewrite. Oh well, season 3 is going to be insane.
Do you really not get the hate or just being naive. It was a filler season. The harrenhal Daemon scenes went on the whole season and the conclusion didn't even hit like they thought it would. We got 200 random scenes of Rayna running trying to find this dragon. Multiple random Lannister scenes that could have been in another episode not the finale. And so much more. But don't act like you don't know why people have a problem, just because you're okay with average outcomes.
It’s mostly people that are chronically online that are review bombing it. Talk to anyone that is touching grass outside and they 9/10 times liked the season. People saying this season didn’t make sense or didn’t lead to anything do not deserve tv like this and this show is not for them. They are not smart enough to get it. Honestly we should feel bad for them!!
@@maleala2048 This! I enjoyed the season and especially the finale. It really sets up S3 to be a banger of a season. The snide naysayers are average in their thoughts at best.
Ppl are upset because this season went in circles. The only episodes that actually did something for the plot were episodes 1,2,4,5,7 8 was ok but it should’ve been episode 7 or 6
Hi Tony & Brook, sorry the show we all love has ended for now. But, there is more to come with Knight of the 7 Kingdoms next year. One of my favorite shows was Black Sails. It was like GOT with pirates. Some real pirates too and only 4 seasons. My other favorite is the Mandalorian & all the prequels. I think you guys would really like it if you haven’t already seen it. Love you guys, see you on Stranger Things.
This is my chance for you to do a suggestion for a movie or movies. I'd like to see your reaction on the Monthy Python stuff, like the Life of Brian and/or The Holy Grail, not quite like this but i'm sure it will make you laugh....😁
Felt more like episode 8 of 10 than the season finale. We were robbed. End of S1 preparing for war, end of S2 preparing for war lol. Come on HBO stop being a tease
You don't like Criston cause he's the only one that resembles some what real human behavior. The others are fantasy royal characters mostly. Like Daemon doing 360 personality shift after connecting to the tree matrix.
The amount of so called haters of this season and this finale episode that i have seen in the comments of multiple reaction videos is crazy. Why are you watching multiple reactions of the episode and season you thought sucked? Weirdos
Maybe because they want to see if others felt the same way. Is criticism not allowed anymore? If you disliked something that you previously liked, is the only allowed action is not watching anymore? Seriously? So nothing is allowed to be criticized anymore? I really don't get this view, because it seems to say that everyone should just either like something or disregard it. And that dislike is not something that is allowed anymore. I want to understand why dislike is disallowed these days.
While i enjoyed both the finale and the season, they were ultimately underwhelming. Glad theres people that absolutely love it, but for me it currently ranks as the lowest of all GOT/HOTD seasons 🤷🏽♂️
As a suggestion for the next show to watch I recommend you Spartacus Blood and Sand, everybody is reacting to Breaking Bad or The Sopranos and so forth please don't copy those reactors be original!!!
Outer Banks, The Queens Gambit, Cobra Kai, Yellowstone, The Terminal List, The Sandman, Shadow and Bone. Just watch the trailer for each of these and see if there is anything you might like.
It was really shitty writing, it is like the writers have amnesia... just last episode the Lords had gathered to tell Daemon how much they loathe him and they would never swear to him, only to Rhaenyra... then Rhaenyra walks in this episode and they are all looking at her like she was some beggar breaking into their mansion then they wait on Daemon (who they hate and would not swear to) to tell them they were going to follow Rhaenyra... shit writing... Then last episode Adam tells Rhaenyra that his mother was a shipwright *ship builder* and in the books she was a ship captain, either way successful... this episode Alyn is telling Corlys how poor they were and how he couldnt even eat as a child (6'3 230 lbs). Rhaenyra says "son for a son" but somehow Alicent doesnt remember that in the first episode this season they killed her grandson, Aegon's son saying "a son for a son"... man this writing is shit.
This finale was a bit underwhelming for me. But I know they're setting up for the battles to come in Season 3! Too bad we gotta wait until 2026 to see it! 🙄
The whole season was disappointing, so much so that George RR Martin called out writers publicly. The whole season was a filler season. Nothing happened. People are calling it Game of Thrones season 8.
@@NikoStark1 This is so true. People don't want to accept that it was all filler. And that is because it is really no more than a soap opera set in a medieval fantasy world with dragons....but still just a soap opera. One that goes a whole season without advancing the plot.
To be honest I was very disappointed with this season, as were many others. People are calling this Game of thrones season 8. Writing has been average at best for at least 3-4 episodes. They changed many things from the books and added very questionable things, so much so that even George RR Martin made a few comments about it. He basically called out writers publicly. Finally it felt like this was a filler season, with a bunch of filler episodes. Filler within a filler. Yikes 😬. No action, and final episode was 1 inch above boring. Shame.
@@catboy079and what’s your take lol. Like everything ever made? George RR Martin didn’t like it either! I think I’ll agree with the creator of the content himself! Wanna see a dumbass? Find a mirror and look.
