At the 5000 year old Loughcrew megalithic cairn T in Ireland, the rising sun this morning on the Vernal Equinoxes illuminated the passage and chamber.
The backstone of the chamber with its engraved sun symbols was bathed in a blaze of golden light during the 50 minute illumination. Celebration of the Vernal Equinox here at Bealtaine Cottage is a joyful tradition, awakening to a early light in a Spring sky creates an immense feeling of well-being, hope and optimism...something we all need more of.
Bealtaine Cottage, once a forlorn, abandoned home set in some of the poorest land in Ireland now celebrates Mother Earth in all her abundance.
Land restoration through planting has been a work of faith and hope and Colette weaves this passion for the Great Mother into all of her work, writing about, photographing and filming Mother Earth in all her seasonal joy and beauty.
Bealtaine Cottage now shines as a beacon of hope, that all is not lost and we can bring forth Eden, even in the midst of so much destruction.
Colette O'Neill is an author and founder of The Bealtaine Project, in the west of Ireland.
