IF YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS TRY THE FOLLOWING TIPS: 01. Go to the main menu and select 'Options', then 'Gameplay'. Scroll down to 'Manual Sword Drawing / Sheathing' and switch this ON. Now you'll be able to quick-swap to your Aerondight and have it stick. Alternatively, If you dont need to drain the Bears health with your Steel Sword first, you can manually remove it from the slot in your inventory before engaging in battle. This way it never auto-equips, regardless of the setting. 02. If the Bears are much higher level than 6, make sure ‘Enemy Upscaling’ is swicthed OFF, in the Options/Gameplay menu. 03. If you still kill the bears too quickly and the Aerondight is definitely equipped, try meditating to remove all currently active buffs. 04. If the Bears keep hitting you, use Quen so any built charges are not lost, and use Axii to daze them for easy free hits. 05. Use Tawny Owl Potion to quickly regen Stamina for quick repeated Quen and Axii use. Note: Superior Tawny Owl never expires betwen 6pm and 7am. 06. When respawning the bears, fast travel to the 'Royal Palace in Vizima' for the quickest load times. 07. You can first use your Steel sword or Fists to reduce the Bears health before using the Aerondight.

Great tip! Suggestion though! When you fast-travel to reset the bears, go to The royal palace in Vizima! The area is smaller so the load time is much shorter, this is pretty much good for any fast travel to pass time needs :)

GamerGrade the only downside of the game is I literally don’t have a sleeping schedule anymore 😂 But Witcher 3 is the best game I have ever played and it is the only book related game series that push me enough to actually buy the books and start reading them (which will happen directly after I finish NG+)
Lol i was exactly the same, minimal sleep for weeks lol. Many players ended up reading the books solely because of the Witcher 3, it really is that good, and now there's a Netflix series! No doubt The Witcher 3 will be one of the few legendary games we will all be telling our grandchildren about ;)

If you gonna do new game plus, make sure when you begin the mission: battle preparations with avallac, enter the first world (the dessert) and do not enter the portal with avallac before killing all the enemies before leaving the world since they continuously respawn around you...
Yup, that's what i did. Now i have a leveled aerondight from the first game and i just got the new one from the new game +. On that note i could use some advice, is it best to keep using the old one which i already leveled up quite a lot or to level up the new one from NG+?
The best place I found to level it was the quest Through Time and Space with Avallac’h. On the desert world he goes through a portal and leaves you to either deal with a trio of Sandcrabs or follow him through. If you stay these Sandcrabs spawn infinitely, 3 at a time. They’re slow and easy to kill. I was able to grind up to max damage in no time. However, you must abandon the main quest and start Blood and Wine in order to get the sword first.

Little Addition: At the slope directly opposite of the Kaer Morhen keep, there is a winding pathway leading up to the bastion and the watch tower. The bears (I think there 3 of them) have silver healthbars, which should eliminate the hassle with equipping the sword.

I've learned that finding a pack of wild dogs or wolves, and killing all but one with a steel sword is good. Then you have one (relatively) weak enemy to wail on with the sword to level it up fast.
This bear idea is the best one. Wolves outnumber and attack from all sides. The bear is slow and easier to raise the hit counter to 10. Wolves you risk being hit and they don't have much health

I haven't tried this method, yet. My process is a little bit different. - Go to White Orchard or Skellige - Find wolf packs - Whirl briefly in the middle of the pack for instant 10 charges - Once you have 10 charges, Aard the wolves, then kill the wolves that are thrown lying to the ground. - Rinse and repeat until you clear the entire pack - Once clearing the area of all wolf packs, fast travel away and go back. I think this is a reliable strategy if you have decent stamina regeneration and Aard intensity. Even in NG+ you can do this in White Orchard. Those level 50 wolves will still be thrown to the ground with decent Aard intensity. I don't know if the bear strategy is faster, but it does save you from the trouble of evading multiple wolves while waiting for your stamina to recover.

After the 6th bear on the right hand side of the road is a large pack of wolves. I found it much easier to skill with those but I also used the bears since I had to get like 200 damage in my NG+. Thanks!
@@GamerGrade Only catch is you have to be at least lv 25 (or 25 above whatever you started in NG+) to fight them. There's about 5-6. Kill them, wait for geralt to sheathe his sword, then manually unsheathe it so the counter doesnt reset. Meditate, then when they respawn immediately cast quen and kill, then repeat. Make sure to pick up loot after a while otherwise the game cant handle that many dead bodies and crashes. Also levels you up insanely.
Fastest way to level up the sword is in Trottheim in skellige. There are two pirates that keep spawning when you meditate. It's also fast to grind mutagenerator.

I just killed them both and only got 8 charges total before i had to go back to the sign post :/ With each bear i get minimum 10 charges and a level up, and there are 7 bears in Kaer Morhen before you have to fast travel. Its an OK method, but no where near as effective as Kaer Morhen! Thanks for sharing though brother :)
Subscribed. I working through my 2nd palythrough on ps4 after 1year+ and its amazing. Your video is detailed and succinct while still being entertaining.
If you have really high resistance and protective coating in the skill tree slotted. Find a pack of wolves and put Beast Oil on your Silver Sword spamming Quen makes you untouchable. Use Ard when you have 10 Charges knocking the wolves down Geralt performs an instant kill. Hot Tip. Anyone playing the Game again with The Next Gen Update soon. Good Hunting!!
I suggest also using the Quen sign so if you do get hit by the bear it doesn't knock down your charges. Your stamina usually will be back if you do get hit then you can just use it again. Doing this with your choice of enemy means you'll most likely never lose a charge.
Another great spot I found to level Aerondight is at Kaer Almhulmt (Pirate Isle) in the Skellige Isles, between Ard Skellig and Spikeroog. There's about 50 enemies here, all of which can be used to elevate your sword to the next level! The method I used was to unequip my steel sword completely, keep Quen up. Were possible, kite enemies off so its one-on-one, blast with Aard, hit whirl til you have 10 charges (enemies won't die as you're using wrong sword), blast with Aard again, and when on the ground use the 'finish off' prompt to kill and restart the process. One visit and I added around 50 damage points to Aerondight 👍 would also recommend carrying 2/3 each of amateur/journeyman weapon repair kits as you'll be wearing durability down rapidly using this method. There is 3 good places to farm: -the fyke isle rats -the other world crabs of the main quest when you go with Avallah -And a pillar village in velen (devils pit)

@@GamerGrade its the devils pit You enter the village and then agro all the bandits after that you go out but you stay in front of the main door that you enter from And you can see that they are packed and cant get out from the village ,they're just walking on spot easy to farm with an Ard sign
Thanks for the clarification, ahh yes i also tested that version which was shown in Bluedogs video. Problem is with that method is they no longer get stuck by the door. Im not sure if its because im on PC or its been patched (im on v1.31), but it doesnt work for me. Maybe it only works on PS4, im not sure? After watching Bluedogs video though it still looks like and awkward and tricky strategy as you have to spend a lot of time gathering and pulling them back to the door. The bears in Kaer Morhen are much quicker and easier, just attack and kill :) Thanks for sharing 🍻
Foglets can be useful too because their clones count as a killed enemy if you have all stacks, I tested it and it works completly fine. Place like Trastamara hunting cottage (southeast of Mere-Lachaiselongue cemetery or the place with the quest with the spoon wight if you already completed it) is good because couple of foglet's spawn in the area, so not only foglets themselves but their clones too (and a single foglet can create multiple waves of clones, just let it be alive for long enough)
Another tip if u are having trouble killing the bears just turn on enemy upscaling build up the Aerondight to 10 and swap ur steel sword and do 2 or 1 hit. This way the bears health will come down drastically allowing u to quickly kill the bears with Aerondight
Honestly, I find the quickest way is to briefly switch to the easiest level, then find a pack of wolves and just kill them with silver swords. I bring down their health with some signs then make sure the finisher is with the silver. Usually 1 pack does it basically
Pro tip: if you have euphoria, use three decoctions to increase your toxicity and draw quen. This way you won't take damage and it will take a long time for them to break your quen shield to deal any damage. I leveled up to 70+ extra damage in just 5 minutes by doing that.
Good video 👍. What I do when I fight humans is.. I'll make their health bar so low with the steel sword . Then finish them off with aerondight. This way your sword won't dull quickly.
The cyclopes in skellige. The aard place of power between redgill and whale graveyard. Kill the cyclopes. Meditate in chamber. Cyclopes reappears. Rinse repeat. No oils or potions will keep you around 10 swings to kill.
You can get this sword in the first mission with Keria Mets when u first fight the wild hunt it’s not the one you get in blood and wine but it’s still an awesome sword for the beginning
Awesome tip but my bears are LVL 45! Also I had to turn off auto equip sword as it auto changed back to steel before I could hit anything haha! I get the bear down to minimal health with a few swings of steel then swap Cheers!
Oh, the ursanity! Thanks for the vid, this has so far proven very useful in slowly raising my Aerondight stat from 0 to 20 out of 130 (I got frustrated with it and set it aside for a while). I still have a lot of bears and wolves to "adjust". Only thing I don't like is the wear and tear on sword and armor in the process...

Great tip man, worked like a charm for me. I just try to get my sword charge up early, then back off and hammer the bear w Aard until he’s down to a sliver of health. Easy peasy.
I took the Aerondight from the lady of the lake at Witcher 1. I play witcher 2 and keep that sword in my inventory. Will it be so powerfull, when I start to play witcher 3? Will she gave me the same sword, when I meet her at witcher 3 again? So excited!

I hear another great place is north in Toussaint near the Yrden place of power. There are spectres there that summon an unlimited amount of barghests which should be easy targets, just keep that Quen up.
Another Dev level way is on Debug Console type (press ` to enable degug console) setlevel(100) then press enter. Then type additem('Aerondight EP2') then press enter. You'll find an aerondight sword at max leevel fully leveled up. It helps when you are too irritated to spend so much time grinding.

Great tips but there's a much easier way. -Fast travel to The Herbalist's hut then turn left and take the small side road there's a bandit camp nearby they always re-spawn. -Hit them till you reach max charge and then use Axii to finish them with the last hit. -Fast travel to Vizima (fastest load screen) and repeat the process.
Its funny, A year and a half ago I played the Witcher 3 and hated it so much and even searched to see others who hated it, but then stuck it out and now I am on my 3rd full playthrough and it and Cyberpunk are my favorites of all time

Yeah the bar they set with the Witcher 3 was so astronomically high, its hard to see it beat any time soon. But if anyone has a chance of pulling it off, then it will be CDPR themselves. Try and go in with an open mind and without too much judgment, and you may find something special if you let it. Only 1 month to go and we'll see :)
I give the bear a lil punch to the face first to remove some health. Then by the time your whirl is done he's dead and you get the stat boost. It's a lil quicker to take out some of it's health first is all. Also I use a lil thunderbolt to help quicken it up
Thank you Jay for the video. A few things to add. If you are doing several bears, bring some weapon repair kits. Watch out that you don’t get too close to another bear or you might get 2 bears for the price of one. Once I got going, I increased my base damaged by 60 points

You did it the right way round dude, trust me! First play through should always be focused on purely enjoying the story and gameplay. Then the 2nd play through (and thereafter) should focus on learning the depths and mechanics of the systems :) I hope you love your 2nd play through as much as i did! 🍻
My Aerondight is 1229 = max power @level 100 (2nd strongest Gesheft Silver sword is 1199). But as he explains, the base damage is only marginally higher, it is the bonus + at max charge Critical Damage that make it truly formidable. What I also recommend doing -> add improvement sockets @ the runewright (HoS expansion) and add a rune-word (difficult to recommend which one exactly, depends on your style).

Currently at lvl43, purchased blood and wine yesterday morning (PS4) I will let you know the level of the bears as soon as I get there. I want to make a bit more progress in the Toussaint side quests first. Haven't even chosen to get the Aerondight yet, mastercrafted ursine does just fine, but I've been searching for Aerondight's perks beforehand. I like preparations before rushing into getting stuff. If you are like me and having really bad luck with Geralt swapping back to his steel sword and 1 shotting the bears just unequip your steel sword. He will never swap back and you dont have to worry about the accidental killings.
Too bad unlike aerondight the witcher grandmaster gear that I spent countless hours & thousands of coin upgrading aren't nearly as useful in NG+. It's a slap in the face when you start Ng+ & base armor is practically better. My only complaint about the witcher 3. But I love the aerondight. Cutting through enemies so easily on death march I've turned on enemy scaling for a better challenge. Awesome weapon...
Yeah its annoying as it takes so much time and resources to reach Grandmaster. It would have been far better if it was still effective for your first 20 levels in NG+ or at least until you get the new Basic Witcher gear so you can skip all the low level random stuff. Death March and Enemy Scaling is a must for players with this sword lol. Enjoy! 👊
I have my grandmaster Wolf, Cat and I have the Venomous Viper whatever and one other grandmaster set on display. I haven't started a NG+ as I just don't have the time I used to. What's the BiS for that?
Got bad news people. I tried today this tactic and I think they fixed it. As in, the buff no longer pops at 10 stacks on non-monsters such as bears. I've tried with some drowners and it works. What works for me, get naked, sword only equipped, go to areas with drowners or nekkers (these ones rock cuz they are like 7-8) in Velen. Take all spells that add DoTs off and start whirwhinding around. Not the best tactic but yea time wise but it goes pretty ok. Too lazy to tell you where exactly to teleport but if you cleared velen I am pretty sure you know places with drowners and nekkers.
@@GamerGrade v1.32. I killed all the bears in KM at 10 stacks, even had Quen up but the stacks don't pop. I tried with some wolves, same story. For me it works only on monsters. Don't know what to say.
Hmm im on v1.31 PC as its more mod compatible than v1.32, however im sure v1.32 only adds some Chinese labguage support and nothing more? Maybe someone else on v1.32 could confirm this method works for them or not? Thats the only thing i can think of 🤔
Yeah you can level it all the way up to Geralts own level cap of 100, from the point you pick it up. I reckon you'd need the exp mod for PC to achieve all this before NG+ though? Automatic sword set off was an important tip. Btw, I have found a nice tip about stopping game when I do alt+tab, it was because Witcher3 forced overclock graphic card. 'AfterBurning' solved it.
Yeah i found a lot of people had the issue with the sword auto-swapping to the steel sword, so included some tips in the comments to switch this feature off, among a few other common issues. I also noticed that about alt+tab, it even pauses the game on cut-scenes which is handy!
@@GamerGrade I meant the alt+tab often crash the game and makes windows stopping. It’s because Witcher3 forces to use too much graphic card’s clocks.(with HD mode)

You are most welcome brother, thanks for watching! 🙏 The best way to level up Geralt is by doing all the side quests in an area before leaving for the next area. This way you will earn max exp for the earlier quests. Uncover most of the question marks too as this will also net you plenty of experience :) Hope that helps and enjoy the game my friend! 👊
Ugh I only have random luck when fighting hordes of drowners. I used the bear method when on normal play through, but NG+ is damn near impossible. Somehow, EVERY TIME, the bears die just a split second too early from other damage effects.
Yeah for some reason they named normal low level swords the same name, the one you want is only available from the Hermit in Toussaint as shown in the video
Thats a long way but it will take quicker than you think. Keep coming back periodically after a side activity or two, rather than doing it all in one sitting lol. Good luck man 🍻
The wolf packs around did better job for me. With I quen shield apply they need to hit me 3 times to remove it, that is enough to kill one. If you manage to separate them 2-3 wolfs are enough to make a 10points kill. I was 46 level. 4 bears 6 wolf packs = 20 damage. I use only Aerondight the other blade oneshot them and play at Blood and broken Bones diff. Thanks for the tip :)
I’ve been playing This game for five years off and on now, and it’s still fucking spectacular; pardon my Toussaint. Speaking of that I’m currently on the path in toussaint, playing "new game plus" & "Death-March" mode for my fifth run through; I know, but it’s just my fav game ever. 🤓 tbh I hope they make a 4th installment, oh PLEEEASE LAWD! GamerGrade So I’ve completed the five virtues this weekend and a red skull icon appeared above the quest, There Can Only Be One (I knew what that meant), but proceeded anyway, despite me on level 69, and boy, should I’ve listened? Lol. Anyway, I tried about 3-4 times and was totally unable to defeat the guy, so I decided to work a little further along the line with my character build (mainly on the traits and mutations) and try again.

So Uh Im level 8 and I got the aerondight from a hidden treasure mission in velen and it says required level 3 and only shows 121-147 damage how do I make it better

Hmm.. make sure you dont have any active damage increasing oils, potions, skills etc, just while you are fighting the bears. Also have you got 'enemy scaling' switched on or off in the options? If its off maybe try switching it on so they are higher level.
Also just double checking you have manually equipped your Aerondight silver sword, and not using your Steel Sword? Using your Steel Sword will of course one shot them.
