I really don't get why people are referring to the r8's speed, the advert isn't saying that the car drives slow. It's the slowest car they've ever built because the car was slow to build as in the time taken to build it. The video explicitly shows a fast forward of the painstaking time that it has taken to build the car and you can just about see that it has been hand built from scratch by a team Audi engineers.

When I first saw this I was 10 years old. Ever since that moment I’ve always wanted this exact R8. Well I’m now 25 years old. A used R8 is now affordable if bought correctly. I’m getting closer and closer to owning my childhood dream car.

This commercial means so much to me. My mom used to work at an Audi dealership and she only ever owned Audis and VWs so I was naturally obsessed with them ever since I could remember. I remember watching this commercial over and over and over when I was a kid. 17 years later I own Audis and work at the same dealership she did. I live and breath Audi no matter what and I will die on that hill. This commercial almost puts tears in my eyes knowing the fate of the R8 in 2024. RIP R8 will forever be my childhood dream car. I’m lucky enough to have driven as many as I have and for that I’m very grateful.
I remember seeing this ad when I was ~14, back then not knowing a thing about cars, asking myself ‘what is that car?!’ ... the beginning of a new found curiosity, love and passion for automobiles. Thank you, Audi.
The 'beep beep' song is, without doubt, the best tune I have ever heard used as an advertising slogan. I never grow tired of hearing it. The single version continues past the advert and is most excellent!
I liked this advert so much when I was younger. I loved how simple the advert was and music made it so nice. Honestly if I could choose the top 20 adverts I ever seen this would be one of them!
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T GET IT: They say its the slowest car they've ever built because of the mostly hand built process. They're not saying its a slow car. It's kind of a play on words; when people finally see the car, they can tell its fast anyway.
For those people who don't understand the title, when it advertised the title "slow" it didn't actually meant the car was slow. But "slow" as in attention to detail, the slow process of making the r8 is due to handcraft man ship to make it precise and more hand man made instead of factory machine made.
When i was a kid, my dad bought me a fake ipod. He put this video in my fake ipod. My dad used to worked in another city for a months, so when he’s home im so excited to wait what he’s gonna put in my ipod next. A year later my mom was cheated from my dad and my parent going to divorced, i stay in my bedroom at night watching this video over and over cause i was miss my dad. And to this day, is searched this video and cry cause i miss my childhood soo much 🥲 . And today my parents already divorced (they divorced a long time ago, and my mom was died in 2014) and i lived with my dad :D i love uu so much papa! You are a strong man! Love you so much from your son 🥰
Still I think this is the best ''car-ad'' ever and it even has nothing to do with Audi or the R8 (who is beautiful). The music is so important in an ad. Simon White's song ''Beep beep'' is brilliant with the ''ghosts'' building the car in the background. It's almost like you're watching fire becoming water ;-)

My father has a 2009 Audi R8. He sometimes drives it whenever he takes his weekly cruises ... He has let me drove it before and it is very, very powerful.
@cao57 Its actually not simulated, the camera moved extremely slowly on a motion control rig while they put it together, then they speed it up and blur the people into that style.
the audi r8 is slowly built because it was assembled in hand by persons not by robotic arms or advanced manufacturing process! so the title is correct!
@gamer7790 The Audi R8 V10 will do 0-60mph in 3.9secs, The Nissan GT-R will do the benchmark sprint in 3.5secs. However. The NIssan's Top Speed is 194mph. Whereas the Audi R8 V10's is 211mph.
@GarrettAndersonTV i know i figured that out because i thought the title meant the slowest production car they made for MPH not the process of building it being slow.
@RC7741 i believe they mean it takes a long time to build...and it takes a long time to build because its a slow process with all the details..i could be wrong though
Very good add I remember seeing it for the first and being blown away. I got to drive one last year on a track and it's so easy to drive and so comfortable as well wish I had the dollar to buy one.
Understand this. If you don't own one or haven't driven one you don't have any experience to back statements not found in its status and manual. No matter how strongly you feel about it.
@Bjamin97 yes it is the slowest car they ever built. it looks awesome and fast, but it only goes 27,48 km/h the acceleration from 0-20 km/h is about 13,89 seconds.
I had the luxury of driving an R8 and a GTR in the past year. They are both one of a kind cars. Audi is nice because I think it has better style, and the Stasis models that are tuned and able to be serviced at any Audi dealer. GTR is nice because the style is still good, launch control (0 to 60 under 3 seconds) and with the right exhaust it can be very powerful. Was very loud. People stopped and stared with their phones out when I drove by them in this. Couldn't leave the gas pumps w/o a crowd
European sports cars are amazing, we don't have them in Canada that much since are roads are pretty rough and hilly, so they would get beat up pretty bad.
