Have you ever seen it, Aragorn? The White Tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver, its banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?
This is really great foreshadowing to one of the greatest speeches of all time. When Rohan's army arrives at the fields of Pelennor, Theoden instantly recognizes that his men will start to waver at the sight of Mordor's army (as evidenced by Eowyn's voice and Eomer dithering with his horse). Theoden then gives brisk and confident orders and encouragement to his lieutenants and his men. But, he also knows that his men are still held back by the thought of whether they will live or die in this battle. He then evokes the thought of certain death and the world's ending in his men with glorious bravado. His men will now give their all in this battle as the fear of death no longer hangs above their heads. And then at last, he reminds them of their glorious ancestors, inspiring them to give their all in this last glorious charge.
LOTR saved me during an extremely difficult psychedelic experience. When Gimli leaped from Helms Deep to stop the Uruk-Hai from killing Aragorn It inspired me in a deep way that words can't describe.
“Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now! Ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin and the world’s ending! Death! Death! Death! Forth Eorlingas!”
Also a very beautiful scene. The beacons, burning from Gondor to Rohan all the way thru the night; and then at dawn reaching Meduseld. The music in that scene is almost wagnerian, and you really get a sense of scale and distance (it takes an entire night for the beacons to reach Rohan).
All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither. Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring. Renewed will be blade that was broken. The crownless again shall be king.
LOTR saved me during an extremely difficult psychedelic experience. When Gimli leaped from Helms Deep to stop the Uruk-Hai from killing Aragorn, It inspired me in a deep way that words can't describe and gave me courage to get through it. At the end it felt like I survived a near-death experience. Aragorn had this look of determination to save Gimli after saving him that I think can only be seen in the extended edition, I felt it.
Boromir: The world of men will fall, and all will come to darkness and my city to ruin!.. Aragorn: I don't know what strength is in my blood, but I swear to you I will not let the White City fall, nor our people fail...
The ability to control our own destiny... the greatest possible blessing, and the greatest possible curse; both in Tolkien's work and in real life. But we will prevail.
“I can’t carry it for you Mr. Frodo, but I can carry you.” My favorite quote of the whole trilogy, showing this true brotherly love from Sam. Sam was never able it carry the burden for Frodo, but he carried it with him. 🤝
its a little changed from the books, but honestly i think i like the shorter version. it gives more impact to the statement i feel, makes it a lasting imprint on our mind.
@@tfallspark5104 Same, every scene with Sam at the end gives me chills and tears, for example when he is back for Frodo and fight with Shelob to rescue him.
"Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers, I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, *I bid you stand, Men of the West!* "
It really brings a tear to my eye thinking of how Rohan answered the call for aid from Gondor - they went knowingly to their deaths against overwhelming odds to honour the oaths made by their ancestors. Just imagine fighting for your life in MInas Tirith and hearing the horn signalling the charge of the Rohirrim...
"Where does my allegiance lie if not here? This is the city of the men of Numenor. I would gladly give my life to defend her beauty, her memory... her wisdom..."
The elves had everything they needed to succeed, most wise, immortal, great warriors, fair, but men in spite of all their shortcomings were the most brave and noble
At that sound the bent shape of the king sprang suddenly erect. Tall and proud he seemed again; and rising in his stirrups he cried in a loud voice, more clear than any there had ever heard a mortal man achieve before: Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor! With that he seized a great horn from Guthlaf his banner-bearer, and he blew such a blast upon it that it burst asunder. And straightway all the horns in the host were lifted up in music, and the blowing of the horns of Rohan in that hour was like a storm upon the plain and a thunder in the mountains. Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor! Suddenly the king cried to Snowmane and the horse sprang away. Behind him his banner blew in the wind, white horse upon a field of green, but he outpaced it. After him thundered the knights of his house, but he was ever before them. Éomer rode there, the white horsetail on his helm floating in his speed, and the front of the first éored roared like a breaker foaming to the shore, but Théoden could not be overtaken. Fey he seemed, for the battle-fury of his fathers ran like new fire in his veins, and he was borne up on Snowmane like a god of old, even as Oromë the Great in the battle of the Valar when the world was young. His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed. For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea; and the darkness was removed, and the hosts of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them. And then all the host of Rohan burst into song, and they sang as they slew, for the joy of battle was on them, and the sound of their singing that was fair and terrible came even to the City.

@@OljeiKhanI was screaming in excitement when I first saw this scene and the RIDER who was absolutely bombing it toward the enormous line of enemies. Absolute CHAD
How can a piece of music hold such power, hope and a will to fight for all that is good, yet remain so humble? And why can't we get anything of this caliber 20 years later?
It's part of demoralization. The people who control our cukture (Hollywood) have been deliberately making terrible movies. It's so newer generations never know su h beauty. It's Marxism 101. Too much to explain in a comment honestly, and I'm tired of people not listening anyway.

I have seen so many people claim that they dream of being hobbits, living in the Shire. That they dream of living in Bag End, wandering down to the Green Dragon. Well, so much for them. As for me, ever since these movies came out my dream has been to be a Man of Gondor. To stand on the walls of Minas Tirith, wearing the white and sable of the Citadel. To know that that the kind and good folk of the West are all behind me, and that perhaps I can do some small part to defend them from the darkness in the East. There is a certain strength in knowing that, upon you, the hammer-stroke will fall the hardest. A certain power in knowing that the Enemy hates you the most, simply for the good your ancestors did. A temptation to stand on the white walls and say to the blackness: is that the best you've got?
This is me but with being a man of Lothern. These men were that of the Simirillion, standing guard of the most important valley in a war of gods and Demi gods. Even after the elves (who would be considered gods in the third age) these men held
As for me, I long to be among the Eorlings of Rohan, to ride to death and glory beside my brothers and my king. When the horn is sounded, and the call resounds across the riddermark, I long to be there to meet the foes of the west in your hour of greatest need. Side by side sheding blood and clashing steel with the darkness. We stand together.
i hope you guys all play the game to be able to live that feeling ;) as for me, im a wandering captain of man, helping anywhere that i can, finding just as much satisfaction in helping a young rohhirrim boy find his favorite toy that he lost than in destroying an entire orc camp
I love how the music tells a story itself without a single word in it, about how a once mighty civilisation is now only a shadow of it's former glory, but still capable of rising again.
The contrast between the Rohan themes at Edoras and Pelennor Fields is honestly breathtaking. It starts as a very slow, almost melancholy theme. And yet, Theoden returns to lucidity and begins to lead again, showing that even in the despair imposed by Saruman's assault, there is hope that they can rebuild. Then at Pelennor, the entire theme changes to a triumphant battle call, showing Rohan in the full glory and martial might it was meant to be.
RIP Bernard Hill, you return to the halls of your forebearers, this very scene was made that much more glorious and inspiring with you leading the charge.
I heard her voice inside my head... she spoke of my father and the fall of Gondor. She said to me, 'Even now, there is hope left.' but I cannot see it. It is long since we had any hope.
It's perfectly fitting, men are always at their strongest when they're fighting for survival. Their worst parts fall away such as greed and malice when they're united as one.
@@LordTelperion Indeed. And the successors of Nova Roma still exist. It is the Greeks! Who I regret saying, despite all their efforts to preserve their culture and strenght, may suffer a same fate as that of Gondor. Black clouds arise in the East, and Turkey expresses more and more demands of vassalization with the threat of genocide. Even if there is war and the Greeks win, still the situation is hopeless, for they are endless in number (by 2040 the Turks will be 100 million people). Lets hope for Eucatastrophy to ensue...
@@paulmayson3129 Turkey can threaten all they like. Greece has the combined might of Europe and the United States behind them, and Erdogan knows it. Nothing is going to happen.

This theme gives the since of pure honor. What a great feeling this music gives. We need more men and women of honor in this world. People who do right because that’s the right thing to do. We need more people to think and act like heroes.
Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden! Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter! Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises! Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor! R.I.P. Bernard Hill. True legend!
The earth is 4,4 billion years old. The dinosaurs reigned for 160 million years. The human race has been around for maybe 600 thousand years or so. Your life, in the grand scale of things, is litteraly less than a microsecond, and we're not even counting the countless millenias that still remains on earth. Your very existence is practically impossible. Yet not only do you exist, you came at a time where you could experience the lord of the rings. So stop complaining.
Carbon dating theory is *_quite literally just circular reasoning_* and ev0|μtion theory is extremely pseudoscientific. The entire ocean would be nothing but salt by now if anything you just said was even remotely true. Go back to the 1970's if you wanna push that b.s.

No kidding. Time to let go of that foreign Abrahamic faith, its poison to Europe's soul. We need to return to worship of the natural world and respect the laws of nature
Tall ships and Tall Kings Three times three, What brought them from the Foundered Lands Over the flowing sea? Seven stars And seven stones And one White Tree.
Stunning mix of music and artwork! Is it just me, or are there tiny flakes of ash slowly floating down onto the Riders of Rohan? Brilliant touch! It really adds the sense of smell to the danger, fear and heroism of the scene!

Currently I'm playing Astra Militarum and am about to be destroyed by Tyranids. May this new light guide my army and the whole mankind to our glorious victory, may this fight be glorious!
Update: we manage to push the evil back south and are reclaiming more lands, though on an unfortunate event we have come to meet a new terrible force up North, the orks are coming.
Felt like this was the greatest depiction of the overwhelming wave that was Mordor. Just relentless, but also a reminder to relish the small victories (in this case the archer ambush saving Faramir)
The men in Tolkien are those imperfect, easily corrupted by hunger for wealth and power. That is what burns a brighter flame in the men who seek light and goodness.
'All that glitters is not golden, not all who wonder are not lost, the old that is strong does not whither, deep roots not reached by the frost, from the ashes a fire shall awaken, a light from the shadow shall spring, renewed shall be sward that was broken, the crownless again shall be king'.
Sing now, ye people of the Tower of Anor, for the Realm of Sauron is ended for ever, and the Dark Tower is thrown down. Sing and rejoice, ye people of the Tower of Guard, for your watch hath not been in vain, and the Black Gate is broken, and your King hath passed through, and he is victorious. Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West, for your King shall come again, and he shall dwell among you all the days of your life. And the Tree that was withered shall be renewed, and he shall plant it in the high places, and the City shall be blessed. Sing all ye people!
Yet remain vigilant. For as evil can neither create nor destroy the same rules apply to it. Remain vigilant less the dark roots begin to gnaw at the world. For it was the first dark lord who made earth his ring. An should thy grow thrice ignorant then we may forever fall into shadow. But not today, not tomorrow, not a century from now for so long as man be true to one another we shall hath overcome all the evils of the world!
I love the soundtrack to this trilogy. It still amazes me how everything was so smooth and pleasant I fear we will never see another masterpiece like this in our lifetime.
Take the forces of Mordor away by the Blood of our People while your lands keep safe! LET THE ARMIES OF MORDOR KNOW THIS NEVER AGAIN WILL THE LAND OF MY PEOPLE FALL IN TO ENEMY HANDS !!!! Boromir a True Hero and Patriot!! Long life his Spirit 💪🏻🔥
Men have supernatural powers in Middle-Earth, or specific men, like the line of Numenor. Aragorn saves Gondor with an army of ghosts, cursed and then released effectively by human sorcery. But why shouldn't he? It's legendary times after all.
