@@ragnarthered2179Even though they committed terrible crimes, they didn’t do half the stuff they were accused of by the usual suspects of the time, the English. In fact, in many respects they were a bunch of pussycats compared to some inquisitions around Europe.
@@brunesi Yeah, scaphism sounds nasty. Crucifixion is probably worse, as you are left to rot in the blazing sun, struggling through immense pain just to lift yourself up to breathe.
wow, pretty impressive that anna didnt name anyone after the rack torture. nearly everyone would give in after that. i think ive heard that only about 2 people in all of english history did not betray others after the rack torture. i guess she is one.
That's what I always think about when I'm going through something tough. Even at my lowest, my life is still hundreds of times better than that of a king in medieval times.
Went to a wax museum a few years back where they had a section dedicated to midieval torture. There was a figure hanging backwards on a huge hook!! Talk about torture😳😳
A weird memory popped up as I watched this: when I had growing pains as a teen, my dad would stretch my legs and arms out in a kinda similar way as someone stretched on the rack. It felt amazing! Maybe the first few seconds of the rack felt nice?
Not really look at the white evangelical Christians today they’re trying to bring this way of life back they wish they had the power to do this to gays lesbians and especially trans people religion is a poison our past should’ve taught us this put clearly we still haven’t fully learn from it instead trying to repeat it
The allah of islam is the devil by the descriptions of allah's attributes in islam's own books. So that explains everything about islam. Those committing evil while claiming its for God are heaping damnation upon themselves. The Bible is pretty clear on that.
Many of the harsh and brutal methods of punishment used in medieval times, such as torture, public executions, and physical retributions, have been abolished or are considered inhumane and illegal in modern societies.
These are the kinds of horrors pp are allowed to visit upon their fellow human being when there is no separation between the laws of Church and the laws of State.
Is that why atheist Russians regularly tortured dissenters? People are evil; the proof of Christianity is slapped in your face and you still are ignorant.
Am incercat de multe, multe ori sa inteleg cum a decazut omenirea in Evul Mediu,sa devina asa inapoiata,sa creada in orice lucru inventat de imaginatia bolnava a cuiva.Pana la inceperea Evului Mediu nu cred ca erau asa.Ma intreb cine a permis Iluminismului sa ofere libertate.Singurul raspuns pe care l-am gasit oarecum si singurul vinovat sau vinovata este biserica si religia.Nu dati voie bisericii si religiei sa acapareze tot caci ne vom intoarce in Evul Mediu!!!
LEFT-tenant, not LOO-tenant. There’s written evidence going back at least to the 1300’s (as writing of the time tended to be very phonetic) that it’s always been pronounced this way in English. The Americans have gone their own way on it much more recently.
The woman in the last section is Anne Askew, for those who missed it. What a gruesome fate for such an upstanding, honorable and honest woman. F However she was not the only woman to have been tortured at the Tower and then burned at the stake. Her contemporary Margaret Cheyne suffered the same fate. All it took to find out about that was a quick google search. Still, in every video, MM makes these silly, frivolous errors. Why? Is this just laziness or what's the issue here? Also, I once again implore @MedievalMadness to please cite your sources for more clarity and transparency to those who want more in depth information.
Another time of superficial and nonsensical false information that generates view. In the Middle Ages torture was used very hesitantly. The New Age, after the Middle Ages saw far more frequent use of this.
RU-vid as a medium would have been a chance to leave this TV-documentary-level view of the Middle Ages behind us. I guess it is still too appealing to badmouth the past in favor of the present, ogling torture while being able to claim you‘re educating yourself. Anyone with a genuine interest should be told this: There are real, well researched lectures about this very diverse era on this platform. They may not be as spectacular (missing pretty but wrongly attributed 16th-19th century imagery for example), but to a curious mind, the information gained will more than make up for it.
