An armoured knight on a lumbering steed, toiling serfs, tied to the lands of their lord, cloistered monks and nuns, lost in prayer, and don’t forget the scenery: high-walled castles, great gothic churches, and farms, farms, and more farms. We all know the kind of things we’d find during the Medieval Age. But what actually was the Medieval Age? Join us here at MedievalMadness to find out...

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting the Jerusalem Church in Bruges several years ago. It is out of the way of tourist traps and is a quiet place to visit. One of the most intriguing artifacts is a cross of gold, with ornate jewels. In the middle of the cross, a piece of wood is affixed. It is the only piece of wood claimed to have come from the cross of Christ that even the most ardent denier cannot disprove. If you ever find yourself in Bruges, please take the time to find it. The church is a special place, with a rich history.
I heard that in the middle ages when people got married, they planned s@x parties after the couple walked down the aisle to speed up the change that the bride has a baby quickly. Now days, its called the reception.
Hilarious how all the history fans on this site are more interested in complaining about AI images than actually noticing real inaccuracies in the script - Stephen was not a child of Henry I. He was a a nephew. Hence why the his succession was contentions - primogeniture vs direct succession. But hey, as long as the video looks “authentic” who cares about the content?
I like the AI. I watch this channel all the time and it’s clear that hi-res pics of medieval pics are not in huge supply - you see the same ones used over and over again if you watch enough of these vids.. At least the AI ones help illustrate the point better than some images shoehorned in just because it’s allegedly from the time.
I am from Los Angeles, where being Jewish is no big deal. A lot of Holocaust survivors wound up in LA, also Russian Jews who were allowed to leave even before Glasnost. And that's not including the entertainment industry. So it's particularly horrifying to learn where the hate came from. And very very important, so it doesn't creep up again.
I believe the fly story. A few summers ago I went for a picnic with my brother, who was making my laugh li!e a loon with his joshing. That's when a gnat, of all things, flew into my mouth. I instinctively drew a sharp breath and sucked the insect down my throat. I tell you, that choking sensation was horrifying! My brother rushed over to perform the Heimlich Manuever, but by then I had coughed the gnat out. Today we joke about the incident, because it reminds us of a silly song we sang as children: "There was an Old Lady who Swallowed I Fly."
Hell! I can tell you that. I can’t stand being dirty or hot. I gag at the smell of slightly overripe cantaloupe. My house smells like bleach and Lysol all the time because I don’t like germs. And to top it all off I change underwear twice a day to stay fresh downstairs. In short, I’d die before birth if born back then.
I think he meant to say 🎶 parsley sage rosemary and thyme 🎶 . Watch the graduate with Dustin Hoffman. I think the entire soundtrack was done by Simon and Garfunkel 😂
Hey you may really want to change that title as it insinuates that the blood ritual was real and it reads like click bait. The bit of history you posit is interesting, but it doesn't need a click bait and inflammatory headline. Also ditch the AI images as they are just straight cringe. Certainly you can find artwork from a real artist for this video.
I do remember sex workers being referred to as "Winchester geese" ... I don't doubt there were some "Winchester Ganders" too, despite protestations from the Church, but then they were probably the regulars at the Molly houses. The hypocrisy would be awful if wasn't so damn funny. 😂❤
A wonderful historical drama that details the aftermath of William’s II his son’s tragic death in the white ship and his daughter empress Matilda fight for the throne is Ken Follet’s Pillars of the Earth and It’s one of my favorite mini series based on medieval era in this case the Middle Ages. The series is well written and includes several talented cast members like Donald Sutherland, Eddie Redmayne, Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane etc.
