I love Jack White as much as the next guy, but we've got to give mad respect for Brendan Benson and the other guys, cause they too, kick legendary amounts of ass.
It's amazing to imagine that, nowadays somebody would make music like this again. I'm here sitting with a huge smile in my face... "70's not dead"... Cheers from Brasil
Jack White is phenomenal in both the band's he's been in and his solo work. I've been listening to him non-stop for months and it never gets old. I hope I can see him live one day!
Thanks Victor but I'm aware of all the band's and his solo work as well. I've been following Jack White since I discovered this band in 06'. His ability to take a song made famous in another genre, Jolene for example originally done by Dolly Parton and give it his own twist while still staying true to the feel of the song is incredible. Each band has it's own unique style and I don't think any of them would have been the same without him!
+Tina Tenis u said "both the bands he's been in" ('both' indicates two [2])... but of course, u already knew about dead weather - god forbid learning somethin from someone else, that's crazy ;)
@@bvdek He said "both the band's he's been in and his solo work." meaning ALL his bands AND his solo work. I hope u can consider that as a possible intention.. have a nice time!
SO much respect, after white stripes, even though its so unique and bad ass with 2 member, a full band offers so many possibilities, Its a rock and roll Orchastra.
i love The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and his solo work too. Jack is an amazing and complete artist. I had the pleasure to be at Lollapalooza Argentina and it was the best concert i ve ever been. There s no one like Jack White, He s the ONE and only.
What I love about The Raconteurs: they are fun live, extremely talented, they make mistakes and even when they do they just keep going with it, their mistakes sound cool even. Just saying.
Jack definitely plays his coolest guitars with The Raconteurs, and has some of the sickest tones coming out of them. This band has sick riffs like the stripes but he's finally surrounded by other great musicians
The people who saw this show were so lucky to see them perform Blue Veins and Carolina Drama live! Probably two of the best songs Jack has ever thought up :)
I was there and it is still one of the most amazing gigs I have ever been to and I've been to hundreds. Blue Veins was awe inspiring. There was nothing wrong with the guitar mix at the gig and Jack's solo was literally jaw dropping Jack's passion was revelatory, I'll never forget it. Me and friends still talk about this gig in hushed tones today.
Hell yea Jacks like a mad genius so I love when hes with other people. Its almost like they keep him in check in a way. The Dead Weather is great too. They all feed of eachother and it just sounds amazing.
This channel is awesome. Lots of good shows. And to the guys who feel the need to hate, no one ever like your comments. They came here to watch cause they like the music, not because they hate it. If you don't like it, don't watch it. You don't have to say mean things. They are probably better musicians than you are anyway.
This was and still is a "series of one day music festivals" at the Eden Project, Cornwall, UK. This was in 2008, but continues annually named "Eden Sessions". Freaking badass concert!! ENJOY :)
OMG this was 2K8 and that would be 9yrs ago. For someone like me and my musik likes, how the fuck did I miss this group? No longer. Keep it going, PLEASE!
Boys and girls, please. Music is music is music is music. Let your ears do the talking and your mouth do the walking. I found a their 2nd CD just recently and fell in love with it immediately...WHY? Because the music is GOOD! and the musicians are MUSICIANS! Who play with PASSION.
To find stringed instrument musicians, who can play with jack, is TRULY incredible!! Fuck yeah fellas!!! I need more of you guys in the future, to keep me going and doing what I do
Parts when he forgots the lyrics looks so natural and aren’t as awkward as when Anthony Kiedis forgets them haha. Well I think that’s what makes him a true star by making it sound cool with mistakes. I also love when he doesn’t consentrate much to his voice (though he did that more with white stripes) can’t wait to see him next month xx
so glad you wrote that! LJ has been a musician for along time in a band called The Greenhornes, actually the drummer Patrick Keeler has too. They are an awesome band to chill out to btw. Jack with Blue Veins is amazing, I totally agree.
Patrick Keeler is the drummers name, so his initials... he is also the drummer for "The Greenhornes" also. The bassist here Jack Lawrence is also "The Greenhornes" bassist, and The Dead Weather too!
"My brain is fried!" I love every song, but damn The Switch And The Spur is awesome. These guys together are untouchable at what they are doing here. Blue Veins just melts me, Shades of Black is sad, yet funny... ONLY if your not in that situation! What's badass about music too is how everyone can see and take something different from it, music has taught me so much. Please support live music!! Holy shit!! The Blue Veins solo just made me tingly ALL OVER! Love me some Jack White :)
From listening to the album I always thought Jack sang Many Shades of Black. It amazes me how Brendan's voice sounds like Jack's. I wish I had the chance to see them live!
I agree with you, but Jack himself said on several interviews that Brendan Benson has his own dealings, a fresh album actually! Jack wanted to keep them together, but now Patrick Keeler & Jack Law. are touring 2012 with their original band "The Greenhornes"(now a Third Man record label). SO Jack is a genius/madman, we just have to see whats next! He hasn't bored us yet friends ;) Blunderbuss kick ass man... I love the honesty that streams out of his lyrics in all the songs, hard to find today.
Haha, well that works! Some venues have the setup and crew to do it, others expect the artist to provide themselves with anything extra like that. I always use something to hear the other people, mainly because drums are a giant wall of sound. It'd be guesswork without it. Even now I'm looking to my right and I see a video of Jimi Hendrix playing live, Mitch Mitchell's kit is right in front of a giant stack of amps so he could hear everything. For others, it comes down to personal preference.
I admit that Jack White brings a dynamic energy to the stage / band - but in terms of songwriting, Brandan writes circles around him. Benson is one of the best active in music right now - at any level. If he were born 20 years earlier, a label would have "developed" him into super-stardom.
There is no need to compare these guys to anyone - especially Led Zep (my favorite band by the way). This music is inspiring to say the least...thoughtful, creative, sublime and above all -GREAT to listen to...Yes, you can hear many early 60s and 70s influences: Kinks, Stones, Lou Reed, Yes, and even Al Stewart's Year of the Cat can be heard here (The Switch and the Spur)...but who cares...it's there own music - we're ALL influenced by others.
I was lucky enough to see them at Glastonbury the day before this was filmed and it was one of the greatest performances, slightly better than the Dead Weather even though Alison Mosshart's sheer craziness was worth it alone. Jack is such a prolific musician I still hold out hope for another Raconteurs album and you should too :-)
Agreed, being a White fan since about 1999, I'd have to agree. As much as I love all his other projects, Consolers is probably my favorite album of all time. Keeler is also my favorite drummer.
