You should definitely watch the second film as it is an immediate continuation of the first. The second film is the film that Garreth Evans wanted to originally make but he didn't have the budget. After the success of the first he got the money he needed. Fun fact about the actor who played Mad Dog is is the former head of the Leader of Indonesia's Private Guard. He is a National hero in his country. You should also checkout The director's first film Merantau. It is the first time the director and Iko Uwiais worked together. Iko is the star of the Raid films.
Actually I believe Dredd was made right around the same time as this movie and just coincidentally had a similar plot. And honestly I'm mad that Hollywood couldn't really find a way to utilize Iko Uwais. Him and Tony Jaa are beasts but could never get decent parts in action movies.
We saw that Dredd came out a year later, but it's hard to believe that its just a coincidence that both movies mirror each other so closely. It's ok to us, because this was an incredible movie. This is my first time watching a movie with Iko Uwais, and you're right, it's a crime that Hollywood did not find ways to utilize his talents. He and guys like Tony Jaa are incredible. Thanks for stopping by, we had a great time watching this.😎
In my opinion : With or without the lieutenant, they can't leave that Building, because when the lieutenant say "NO BACK UP" they are just 5 police alive (if i'm not mistaken).
Hot take: im actually really curious on Michael Bay's Remake of this film after what he did with Ambulance. I personally think the Raid 1/2 and the John wick Series are the most influential action movies of the 2010s. Like how action Filmmaking changed once The Matrix came out,the Level of Filmmaking in this genre has been elevated to another level by just how well done these simple Concepts are done.
Is he remaking this movie? I thought it was just fine the way it is personally. Still, if it's true it should be interesting, but it has to be just as violent and gruesome otherwise it's an injustice. That's just my opinion, but you are probably right about this movie an John Wick being as influential as they are. They are hard movies to beat for sure.
@@CocktailFlicks all I'm hearing is a Remake of it has been in development and Michael Bay is attached at a Producer level. I agree with Keeping the Gore and Violence, but I really would love to see some of the Gun choreography from that very First fight scene where they get ambushed and spread it across the film. Idk,I just think Film Ideas like these would really fit Michael Bay's Filmmaking and i think he really has shown he can do smaller scale budget action films better than being with The Transformers imo.
Great to see you guys enjoying this brutal action packed modern classic of a martial art film. The coincidences with Dredd is pretty damn unreal but thats what really happened. No ones ripping of others. In fact im glad both movies are exists cuz both of em are awesome on their own. Gareth Evans (The man who made this movie) is one of the best action filmaker exist these days. Iko Uwais (Rama) and the other actors were equally amaizing and Hollywood has been asking for them to have a part in the action movie industry there so you might have seen some of those actors if ure watch enough action films. Yes please go watch The raid 2. Its manages to get better than the prequel
Did you know the lead actor from this film was in The Snake Eye film? and the guy that got his neck snap he's Sub-Zero in the latest Mortal Kombat film. ps: hopefully you guys got the chance to watch part 2. Also amazing.
When i first watch this movie i expected to hear from speaker MAMA is not the Law..... I AM THE LAW..... Judgment tiiime... Awesome movie and the second (Barandal) is even better. Gareth Evans did a really good job :o His fights is crazy :D
From a comment I seen a bit back, iirc someone mentioned that in Indonesian you learn basic martial arts in school. So I guess that's why everyone has some ability to fight
Crazy right? If it's a coincidence then it is the coincidence of the century. I'm willing to accept that, but these stories are very similar all the way through. I hope I'm not misunderstanding your point, it sounds like you see exactly what we see. Correct me if I'm wrong. Either way, Thanks for stopping by!
This movie is dope and the sequel is lit tho. Iko Uwais (the main actor) is one of the best actor in action and martial art movies, he's fucking insane. Please react his another movies: The Night Comes for Us and Merantau.
