The Raid Redemption (2011) | MOVIE REACTION 

In case you guys don't know that this building is CGI. The martial art in this movie is "Pencak Silat" the main character Rama (Iko Uwais) & Maddog (Yayan Ruhian) = Pencak Silat Master, choreographer, Action director also stunt for them self. Sergeant Jaka (Joe Taslim) is the guy who portrait Sub Zero in Mortal Kombat new Movie. I hope you guys watch the next The Raid 2 which is Direct Sequel from The Raid Redemption. i wouldn't even say that this movie is famous for it's violence, we have violence in many movies, i would say this movie is famous for it's insane fight choreography... to this day this movie has some of the most entertaining and insanely choreographed fighting scenes i have ever seen.... and what makes it even better is that so much of it seems actually doable.. you never have the feeling that you just saw a kick, jump or punch that no one would ever be able to do like in so many other action movies

U guys have to watched the raid 2. and the actor was a real martial artist and the martial art called "pencak silat". He now known as one of the biggest action actor too his name is iko uwais

The Raid is an Indonesian martial arts film written, directed, and edited by Gareth Evans. He's a welsh who's a big fan of action martial art. The way he directs an action is something else and its yet to be matched by other action filmakers out there. The main character (played by Iko Uwais) is a talented martial artist just like 90% of the casts of this entire film. He and the others did their own fights/stunts all by themself. He and Yayan ruhian (Mad dog) both made the choreograpy for the raid movies. None of the fights u have seen there are being speed up edited since those ppls are legit fighters. The thing is Iko sometimes gets told to slow down his movements since the camera is unable to catch up with him. The martial arts form used in this film is called Pencak Silat. Its a deadly Indonesian martial arts form that used almost every parts of a body as a weapon. This movie changed the way how people used to see action and inspired lots of upcoming big action stuffs such as John Wick, Winter soldier, Deadpool, Warrior and many more. If u think this movie is already awesome enough, then the sequel might blown your mind of how they elevate some stuffs there. Also there is Indonesian martial arts film called The Night Comes For Us which is a mix of Horror splatter and martial arts films. Its not directed by Gareth but its close enough to rival the raid franchise's insanity

both the actors who play Rama and Mad Dog are real pencak silat practitioner. Real fight Mad Dog's actors will win hands down, Rama's actor specialized in form (like kata in karate), while Mad Dog's actor trains the special force. Meanwhile, Sergeant Jaka's actor was former national level judo athlete, you can see in some in his moves in this movie

Some suggestions for foreign films to watch: 1. The Man From Nowhere (2010, Korean) it's like John Wick, it came out before John Wick, so....its awesome. 2. Seven Samurai (1954) a classic. 3. Yojimbo (another classic samurai film.) 4. Sanjuro (a clever script and story drive this classic samurai film). 5. Ong-Bak (Tony Jaa) great martial arts and stunt sequences....original score (music) for film is way better. 6. Ninja Scroll (Anime, 1993) 7. The World's End (2013, hilarious British film). 8. Snatch (heist, comedy, British film starring Brad Pitt) 9. Chocolate (2008, Thailand) female led martial arts film....awesome. 10. The Elephant Man (1980, British) stars Anthony Hopkins. A true story....very sad. 11. Salaam Bombay! (India, 1988) very sad film. 12. The Color of Paradise (Iran, 1999) very sad film.

The guy that plays Mad Dog is a stunt coordinator and also a former Indonesian secret service martial arts instructor. He’s a legend in Indonesian martial arts

The Raid 2 is even better. It has a gripping story and waaaay more fight scenes. But a little bit of advice (especially for your sister) should you decide to watch the sequel: they also cranked the violence level up to 11. Side note: the actor who played Mad Dog is also back in the sequel as a different character.

Funny you comment on the training... All the actors in this film went through a boot camp where they trained with Indonesian frogmen in order to get their weapons manipulations and tactics down. Also on the John Wick comment? Iko Uwais literally worked with Keanu Reeves in Man Of Tai Chi because of this movie.

Should watch the sequel. It's a much more slow-paced, but more story-driven than this one. A few interesting new characters also feature in it.

This, the sequel, and The Night Comes For Us are the best action/martial art movies in the last decade.

The sequel is even better - the director/writer/editor, who is Welsh, gets a bigger budget after the strength of this film. The actor playing Mad Dog returns in the sequel, but as a different character. He, and the lead protagonist, are the main fight choreographers in these movies. This director and acting/fight team's first movie (also lower budget), "Merantau" is also worth checking out.

Good action movies like John wick and Captain America civil war and many more take their inspiration from this movie, The Raid is one of the most influential action movies in modern era.

But most of Indonesian like Malay are dark skin and near Micronesia so some far away African ancestry also Indonesia was invaded by some Europeans countries. And also some south Vietnam blood there.
