...Thanks - it would've been better edited together - but I discovered that any clips from the 1970 film over 30 seconds long or so , means that it gets immediately blocked ! I've sent for a couple of DVD's from E-Bay as my recording was from ITV3 !
...just looked at the variety of DVD's available - there was a black and white BBC television drama series first , in 1968 , then this 1970 film , then in 2000 Jenny Agutter played the mother character and Richard Attenborough played the elderly man on the train in another TV adaptation. There's also a version based on the stage play, which was filmed at the National Railway Museum in York - using the original train from this film !
I went to see the production at York, after it had moved from the Eurostar side of Waterloo stn in 2015. I never knew the production had been filmed, I would like a copy of that.
Thank you Steve for uploading this video. I enjoyed this immensely. I’m at the Bacup Bike & Car Custom show today with my bike. Have a ride down today to show your support and we will have a coffee together
....yes, today is the Stoneyhurst College Classic Car Show too - but heavy thundery showers are on their way. It's not much fun riding in the rain ...and the only time I do so is for getting to work and back , and that funeral procession in February !
One Rainy cold day, the three children sitting in the waiting room by the fire. I hope Mother doesn't get too wet. We don't want her ill again. Its like being in a sieged castle, the arrows & the bows striking agenist the battlements. Its more like a great big garden squirt. You're a great big garden squirt. Thank you. Stop it you two! There's a train coming. Oakworth. Oakworth Station. Come along ladies. Mind your heads. Its only a shower. Mind the doors please.
...this is the second edit as it was blocked due to a Copyright claim ! This one still has a warning on it so I might have to cut a couple of clips down even further ...which loses the threads of the walkaround.
....uunngghh ! I uploaded another edited version - but it STILL got a warning due to the segment at 18:30 ! I included this because if you actually go on the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway you have a choice of standard class, or a luxurious journey in a posh 'Pullman' coach along the 8 miles or so track ! I'm not sure if food and drink is served ...I'll have to look online - or you will ...have you been on it ?
...well, it used to be a lot more fluid ...but having to severely edit it has made it too jumpy and has missed some scenes out . I've just sent for an old cheap 'MFP' LP featuring Lionel Jeffries narrating parts of the story and snippets from the film dialogue ...but the 1997 CD release seems to be very rare , and sells for £40 + now !
I saw this film for the first time in the cinema of the Patricia, a ferry that ran Plymouth to Santandere, I think it was double billed with "Paint your Wagon" my first exposure to Clint Eastwood.
I have a Hardback DORLING KINDERSLEY DK EYEWITNESS GUIDES Book of TRAIN. Discover the story of railways - from the days of steam to the high - speed, sophisticated trains of today. In association with THE NATIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM.
....if you're wondering about the time period into which the film is set ...the three children are presented with gold pocket watches in return for averting a train crash following a landslide onto the track , and the date is August 15th 1905 !
....after Jenny Agutter , as 'Staff Nurse Price' , had a fling with the American Werewolf lad who came to a sticky end ....you'd think there'd have been a follow up film with HER as a female one , seeing as they had a close encounter of the hairy kind in the shower and in her bed ? There was a sort of follow up set in Paris that was on tv recently , but she wasn't in it !
...she played the mother's role in the modern remake , but she was also in a 7 part television drama made by the BBC in 1968, which is on RU-vid. I've watched parts of it , but it didn't have the same charm as this one...though it's apparently recommended that you don't compare the two versions and watch them without 'prejudice' !
...yes, amazingly - that thinly padded bag came all the way over from China with the Triumph sign in - and a plug in transformer , all undamaged and working fine - for just £14.99 , including postage ! You'd think a bike shop would send for 50 of 'em ...and sell them for 30 quid each !?
...yes, if my moustache was on fire I know how she could put it out ! I resisted the temptation of putting some nudy pictures on here which I found during a google search for ...'pictures of Jenny Agutter' !
