The Railway Review to the Class 458 Juniper 

For crying out loud, I only just remembered right now there was another Juniper joke I could've added. The character Juniper Montage from Equestria Girls!

Up in Scotland we have the 334 cousins. I used to work on them years ago. They couldn't be used on the Cathcart Circle, Newton and Neilston routes regularly as the motors would overheat. They have an odd 2x2 seating arrangement in the driving cabs and 3x2 in the PTSOL. I recon this was because they were trying to make it all things for all people for Suburban Glasgow's routes- inner suburban layout for north of the clyde and outer suburban for south of the clyde. The cab layout is reasonable because it dosen't have the gangway end but the air con and the heating in the cab is very loud. The suspension has always been very loud, clunky and squeaky, the toilets are just as unpredictable as the 458s but the spongy seats and the recently fitted plug sockets and wifi make up for some of these quirks. I'll never forget having to evacuate a trainload of customers off one in the middle of nowhere as it tore the wires down around us or the set that had a cab double glazed side window that had become full of water between the panes and someone had drew a fish under the water and a small island with a tree above the water so the would swish around them as the train moved! The 334s are i recon like the rest of the Juniper fleet, not great, they are not good but they are not bad either.

South Western Railway will be retaining 28 Class 458s for the Portsmouth line until 2027 once they have been replaced by Class 701 Aventras on the Reading and Windsor Services and will be replacing the Class 442s which have now been withdrawn by South Western Railway in March 2021

The 458 are Staying in SWR but be given a overhaul that includes, toilets, new SWR livery and branding and the biggest changes of all returning to 4 car sets and given there 100 MPH speed back

Swr is now refurbishing the 458/5 to the 458/4 same thing but the 458/4 goes 100mph and different routes

Been on 3 of these to and from twickenham, once it was like the hottest day of the year and the ac had broke, was literally an oven on board

Come back to this after knowing they're gonna be refurbished and stay in service. They're gonna reuse parts from the 442 refurbs and honestly? I cant wait to see it. Might make them somewhat less badly built, and make them feel very modern... we can only hope

Well, dont make a review on the whole aventras as the 701 alongside with 710, 720, 345 and maybe the 730 will use Uncomfortable Iron board seats. On the 720, 730 will bring 3+2 ironing board seating. the 710 if i am wrong diamond longitudinal seats, the 345 has interior combination 2+2 and longitudinal seats

Why....why would you reduce a trains top speed , thats like the ultimate crime, the acceleration is still kinda off though, unless drivers just like a train that crawls and domt actually try to accelerate.
