Before listening to Ramsey, I paid my car off in two years and I had a 6 year car loan. My payment was 320 a month, but I paid 700 a month (300 on check 1 and 400 on check 2 and since I get paid biweekly I paid and extra 500 the months is was paid three times) in addition I used some money from my tax refund to put towards my payment. I was told if you pay biweekly or weekly, you pay even less interest over time. Best feeling ever to have my car paid off! Everybody thought I was crazy paying 700 a month, lol. Jokes on them 🤭

Years before I know Ramsey existed, I suffered enough to use my brain and do basically most all that I see he tells students/listeners to do. It feels wonderful to not have all that pressure. It feels great to be very lucky and survive a heart attack 7 years ago and be doing well. Watch every penny. Before you buy a car or take a cruise or do anything, ask yourself how hard you worked for it and would you rather have it invested and making you money. If I live 1000 years, I'll have money. Good luck to you. If you live here in the USA, and you're young & healthy, becoming a millionaire is no big deal at all. No excuse not to.

Rachel is annoying when she’s on her own or with another personality (to me) but when she is with Dave, I like her. I think it’s the father-daughter thing.
@adearabby6154

I agree with you. I believe when she's with other hosts, she has a tendancy to laugh and talk over them, making it difficult for listenwrs to follow the conversation. When she works with Dave, less laughing and she listens to what he is saying. Maybe respect for her boss/father, however she is much more pleasant when working with Dave.

The only reason i did UTMA its better returns. Way better option My FL 529 Rate of returns is around 3%. While in utma i choose the mutuals funds Dave recomend. Also when my kids use that money for college theirs tax bracket will be so low anyways. I think UTmA its the way unless you get a way better 529 rate of returns . Any of you encounter same situations?? Thanks

57 years old and approaching retirement is a good time to pay off the remaining debt. If something happens unexpectedly that jeopardizes the household income before planned (like health crisis), it will be a relief not to have the outstanding mortgage lingering. If you simply pay partially more on the mortgage principal plus partially more into the retirement accounts you will still be ahead, however quickly having no debt will give a financial freedom with more choices.

1:48:40 I totally agree- in my marriage we are able to come together and make a plan and that’s so important for me personally to feel safe - it feels great! Don’t be afraid of talking to your spouse about money. Of course some spouses aren’t open- and you may have to make hard choices there etc ( I did)! But anyway my two cents. Makes marriage so much better

Re. Roth IRAs for the kids and 529s for college: We had a deal with our kids where any money they earned they first tithed on, then they gave us half and kept the other half. We would put the first half in a 529 and match it. Instant 100% return. When my mom passed away and left me a little money, I put $1000 of it into a Roth IRA for the only one of our kids who was still a minor. She was working a lot by that point and easily covered the amount of the Roth on her W2.

So very true. I used to love Dave. He’s become so pompous it’s difficult to follow his solid advice. He’s become a complete turnoff. Every Ramsey person cohost simply kisses his behind and they all live in fear of Dave firing them and Dave loves people who are afraid of him. For a rich dude Dave has serious issues

Surprised that the primary pay off isn't the IRS.. it seems like a departure from Dave Ramsey's normal order of importance. Why ? Why not sell the car ? Used cars are higher in value than the loan often these days. Why not get rid of the predatory car loan?. Maybe use the 5% of $100,000 earnings to buy an inexpensive vehicle instead of her 401 K? I wonder what her monthly car payment equals AND the vehicle insurance cost.
