Lyle, that is my favorite poem by my favorite poet. I don't think I breathed during the reading, only glanced over to see your reaction. First read this over 50 yrs ago and it's been my go to by Christopher Lee. Tell Tale Heart is my second favorite. Thank you so much for this!!
They say that Saruman's deadliest weapon were his voice. Just like u said about poem, it can make ppl emotional and corrupted just by hear his words. Going insane. I love Christopher's voice as outside Saruman and other actors he play, his voice can make even a real life person to feel emotional, he can feel his voice how real it is. When I close my eyes and listen to his reading I can imagine the emotion he gone through reading it. It's like u can be Edgar Poe and feel his emotion when he wrote it. Words and voices are really powerful.
A deep voice and acting ability is necessary for this reading. A great interpretation. Thank you. Geoff Castellucci has also done several dramatic readings including The Raven and The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe and The Landlady by Roald Dahl if people want to hear more dramatic readings.
I loved this. My late husbands favorite was Edgar Allen Poe and he recited this often. Wonderful memory. I wonder if Christopher Lee also recited The Tell Tale Heart. I'll have to look that up. Thank you for the memories.
This was excellent; the first time I really absorbed the whole poem. It shows what a professional reading can do for a poem. Have loved your channel for some time, and this was a great idea.
Greetings from Belgium and thumbs up for this idea and yes, greatly appreaciated ! Background music is indeed appropriad, saroumane gift to us...utterly brilliant ❤
Christopher Lee is perfect for reading this poem! When I was young, I believe it was Vincent Price that was great at reciting this poem. Having 'Sauran' reading it is great!
This is lovely, read by a master. And I agree with @gailseatonhumbert, a deep voice is definitely best for this particular poem. If you're interested, you can contrast it with another, albeit very simply read, bass narrator, Geoff Castellucci: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p4t280b12G4.html
Making a second comment to add another link. I enjoyed your reaction to the poem and would love to see more. One poet you might consider is Christina Rosetti. Here's Jonathan Frid, Barnabas Collins from Dark Shadows, reading one of her pieces: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kkei9Jqfmj0.html
