The Priest was a forgotten beast that no one down to this day is talking about

Credit to that OL. One of the literal greatest ever assembled. Roaf, Shields, Waters.... God DAMN.

I remember what a great man Priest was. Once after a tiring practice Priest took the time to address a line of hundreds of kids, each personally. My son was one of those kids. Baltimore loves Priest Holmes.

I have always idolized Priest Holmes more than any other player. I chose number 31 in little league football just because of that. The fact he was only 5'8 made me feel like I could go pro too if I wanted. When I was only 5 years old, I would pretend to be him playing football in the living room with my dad. He really has been a huge part of my life, and he still motivates me to this day. He's a legend in my eyes.

When they name dropped Priest during the SB win, I teared up. That dude deserved a ring. Favorite Chief of all time, made the '00s fun for us.

His vision was probably his greatest strength (and that’s saying something). If you’re a running back, I recommend you watch this guy. You can be the biggest and fastest, but if you don’t have the vision at the running back position, none of that will matter.

One of the most underrated, forgotten players. Not fair. He shined so bright but for such a short time. Amazing player to watch for that short time.

What made Holmes so great was his ability to find the rushing lanes. He didn't try to use his speed like LT did or power like Bettis would. Instead he used his ability to read defenses and his unrivaled ability to get though rushing lanes. To run the way he did took perfect timimg and patience

Priest is my favorite player of all-time, but can we just acknowledge that block thrown by Trent Green?? 😲😲

I went to the same high school as Priest Holmes and my mom was his co- financial advisory at USAA bank. I had the opportunity to meet him when I was 13 at USAA headquarters and remember being nervous but he couldn't have been nicer and I will always remember that experience.

I love watching priest Holmes because he follows his blocks so well and is so patient. On top of that he is so explosive, capable of out running most players and run through the ones he can’t run past.

That 3 year period (01-03) Priest Holmes was arguably the best RB in the league and one of the most valuable players overall. It just goes to show that all certain players need is the right opportunity and a coach that believes in what they can do within there system.

As a huge Chiefs fan he was an absolute monster for us. Great memories

I met Priest Holmes at an arena football game just after his record breaking season. As a kid aspiring to play football I asked him if he had any advice for me. He said, "You need to treat football as a year round sports not a seasonal one, not 6 months, not 9 months, but 12 months". Absolutely amazing how much he wanted to succeed. And he did.

Dick Vermeil is one amazing coach, a coach a person would give his all to make proud!

Tony Richardson was his lead blocker. One of the best fullbacks of all time.

Most people forget he scored the only two rushing touchdowns against the vaunted Nebraska blackshirt defense in the first big 12 championship game. He was a stallion

Went to church with him in High School. GLPT. Went to UT with him and he never got his due but he always worked his tail off. Watched him get overlooked by undeserving others in College and the Pros. Hate the world never saw how good my man was on and off the field. Priest, if you ever see this message know that we love you. Your next stop should be coaching at an HBCU!

I feel like Barry Sanders was criminally missed when discussing ‘peaks’ - his entire career was one massive peak.

Truly Priest Holmes is a Hall of Famer. What he did in his time with the Chiefs was Phenomenal. He overcame a lot coming back from those injuries. A true Warrior.

This brought so much joy to me. Priest was my favorite player during this time. I always felt he never got his just due, like HOW IS HE NOT IN THE HOF!?!?!? This dude was ridiculously good! Great even! Forever my greatest running back that gave his all when it seemed he had nothing left.

As a kid, I wore a black Priest Holmes jersey I got from a GoodWill, and loved that thing. Also found a Randy Moss Vikings jersey. I idolized their talents and tried to replicate them in the neighborhood field (when tackle football in the rain/mud/snow was still a thing). So many good memories.

Priest is one of my favorite players of all time, and made those Chiefs teams so fun to watch in the early 2000s. The Texas Longhorns had Priest and Ricky Williams in the same backfield in the 90s 👀

He should be in the Hall. There is no question great player and a great teammate. One of the greatest to ever play the position. He didn't play as long as Emmitt did but he had to overcome alot of injuries and obstacles. Just a solid player.

You’re right Holmes belongs in the hall, and I believe Vermeel belongs too. Watching Priest play was magical I’m a Giants fan (I know) but Holmes was something special to witness.

His reverse moonwalk's into the end zone were always beautiful. He did that several times. I loved watching this guy. He always reminded me of Barry or Emmett with his running style. But he was physical as well. Incredible athlete.

Priest was something else. Flying through the air at the goalline. My favorite player after the late great Derrick Thomas.

As a raiders fan Priest Holmes was an amazing running back. He was so patient he waited for the holes to open up. He would then just slip through great player 👏

My buddies and I started up a keeper fantasy league in 2001. I picked Ladanian Tomlinson with the last pick in the first round and Priest Holmes with my 7th round pick. Needless to say I did pretty well in that league and didn't need to worry about drafting running backs for a few years.

Priest was a beast in college who didn’t get used as much as he should’ve. He had strength,speed, quickness, and heart.

I hated seeing him tear up the Broncos in the 2000s, but this shows a side I never saw. I have a newfound appreciation for him now.

PRIEST HOLMES was my favorite running back of all time. With all the great backs that played the game,I know that's a hell of a statement. But I had just started watching the NFL. I didn't know that he and Trent Green came to KC together,and I guess that's why Trent Green also holds a lot of fond memories for me!!!! I kinda needed to see this video. So weird only about a year ago I was reminiscing on how good Holmes was and tried to find a good documentary or even a good highlight compilation and I couldn’t find anything that did him justice it was like he was forgotten or was never that good now this just popped up in my feeds and it’s very cool to watch thank you for not letting his greatness be ignored yes Holmes had one of the best stretches I’ve ever seen exactly how I would describe his greatness he was unstoppable with the Chiefs at one point when he was healthy

I'm not a Chiefs fan but I remember that 03 season like yesterday. Priest Holmes was a monster and Dante Hall was lights out when it was time to return one.

This man Priest Holmes #31 did SO much work for me on my fantasy teams. Absolutely the most underrated legend.

Priest got no credit back then. Every time I would mention priest Holmes, I’d be met with, “oh but his O-line is so good, anybody could look good behind them!” Priest definitely helped his line look good with his patience.

This was finally recommended to me by RU-vid after binging Pacheco videos... As a Kansas City kid who became a man during Priest's reign, I was very familiar with him. He is still my favorite player ever to this day, even though Mahomes really wants to be! He was a stellar player, and an even better person.

That line had to be one of the best offensive line units ever in the history of the NFL. Roaf, Waters, Weigman, Shields and Tait.

Played intramural touch football when I was at UT back in the early 90s. During a redshirt season, Priest was one of the referees. Once he made a controversial call in my favor, and was even kind enough to compliment our 'creative' offense after the game. Made a lifelong fan out of me.

Since I'm a Bengals fan he obviously never coached my favorite team, but that being said the humility of this man is truly inspiring. There will never be more of a players coach. He was able to see and trust a players heart and not just there physical attributes... It shows when he put his job on the line sticking up for Priest... He also did it when he was a young coach with Vince Papale... For anyone on this thread that hasn't seen the movie"Invincible" with Mark Wahlberg it's a must watch!! In closing Congratulations to Priest Holmes, and I hope one day both player and coach make it in Canton....

Someone was talking about some of the great running backs the other day, and I mentioned I would take Priest Holmes over McCoy and several others. Everyone started trying to say how he was a flash and gone. I brought up his stats at KC vs McCoy and Chris Johnson.

I'm a Raiders fan and I was happy for Priest. Goes to show that deep down our love for football goes beyond the colors we support.

I loved him. I had him in fantasy football and as a Patriots fan I still watched him play. He was so gifted. I think he deserves the hall of fame because he was unstoppable. You can't judge him on injuries. If he never got injured he'd be the best rb ever, not Emmitt.

Oh, and Holmes was straight badass. His vision, and the timing and angle when he made his cuts was near perfect, and he had that great balance and leg drive. Made his 40 time irrelevant

3:24 I would like to take this opportunity to point out just how much of a freak(thus the nickname) Jevon Kearse was. I totally get the concept of having an angle in these situations. But still... Seeing a 6’5 265lb DE running down Priest Holmes like that is fkn ridiculous.

No one could absorb a hit and run off of it like him. As soon as he hits the pocket he had a third and fourth gear. Great to see him in pro’s. You should have seen this skinny little freshman run and run and run… Great memories and great person! Glad to call him a friend!

If i had to describe the career of Priest Holmes, I'd say that he was overshadowed. He was a great player, who only played on a super bowl contender for two seasons, wasn't the most accomplished among the other grear running backs (Sean Alexander, LaDamian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk) nor was he the lone standout in terms of all time Chiefs Running backs before, or after. I love the guy, and its unfortunate that he doesnt really get the recognition that he deserved. Thank You NFL Films.

Growing up in this era I didn’t know all this about Holmes. In my eyes he was a top 3 back who I thought always been in the spot light and high on draft boards never knew he went undrafted

When priest went on his run I was like 6 or 7 and I was a colts fan but I would watch the chiefs casually and saw he was a beast but at that age I still didn't understand how monstrous he was...imagine if he never got that last injury...maybe top 5 running back

He didn't just make it to the league on talent alone! Hard work & bouncing back from injuries come from heart & digging down deep. He is a hall of famer in my book.

It's crazy that in 2004, Holmes was 31 and on pace for nearly 1800yds rushing and 28tds midway through the season. That was the first injury. The one in 2005 was the one that ended him.

Crazy to think of how much talent the AFC West had at running back from 2000 to 2006. Priest carrying the rock for the Chiefs, LT with the Chargers, Clinton Portis with the Broncos, then Larry Johnson with the Chiefs? That's pretty remarkable!

I’m still relatively new to the NFL and its long history and I gotta say this documentary on Priest Holmes was just amazing. It gave him credit, conveyed the emotions and brought light to a fantastic career. Great job guys!
