Another way is to fit a 8x5mm flange bearing onto front face of the wheel. (mf85zz). To do so the wheel hole needs to be opened to 8mm. Then use the hex bearing adapter on the inside. Thay way you will have bearing on both sides of wheel like a true bearing fitment wheel. If the bearing protrudes too far into the hex area, you can use 5mm shims under the flange bearing to push it outwards. Then use barrelnut or regular wheel nut.

First HUGE thank you for the wheel options on these diesel truck axles. The best thing I found was some generic hexes that had a bearing pressed into them on Bang Good or Amazon. Was great for the inner side of the rim but you still ended up with the axle nut drag on the outer side of the rim. I wonder if the wheel bearing set for those 1/16th stock cars would work? But I really want to finish my gasser chassis, and the front rim issue, I didn't want to have the metal to metal friction stuff going on. So the Tamiya adapters and the small ball bearings sound like good options. Workable wheel bearing setups for these axles also cures one of the issues with a gasser front end. I started a gasser chassis, I still think it's doable and not have shaky steering and leaf spring issues.
