As a History teacher and someone whos personal interest (when I’m not teaching) is the history of the 19th and 20th century, hearing the phrase “being sent to re-education” sends absolute chills down my spine.
Due notice that was his own words. He is trying to make it seem bad. Please don't ignore the fact there is a laundry list of shit he has done wrong and committed a fallacy of authority to cover it up. He taught his students his personal opinions as if that was what the text books said. He lied to them over ideas because he did not agree with them. He pushed facts aside for his opinions and then declared that because he was a teacher and a board certified doctor he was right. Thereby changing his opinions into facts via fallacy.

As a Canadian doctor I thank you for fighting the college. The college of physicians is even worse. We have to follow their ideology blindly and not exhibit any opinions of our own

I'm a british man, 30 years old and I'm not ashamed to admit I went off rails 5 years ago and wound up addicted to amphetamine and weed. I've spent 4 years taking drugs and growing debt, working on/off in warehouses and nightclubs and sometimes on the dole. It wasn't until I found jordan petersons content that I embraced responsibility. I now work in an office for Belgiums largest internet service provider and have a happy relationship with a beautiful sweet girl and I'm working on reconnecting with my parents. I owe so much to this mans perspective and it annoys me that people would lie about him

I loved what he had to say on body dysmorphia. I am a mother of a teen autistic girl. She expressed feelings of wanting be a male, we supported it without medication or surgery (cut her hair short, boy clothes, etc) 2 years later she changed her mind. no one should ever rush young people into permanent decisions (surgery/ hormones) They are young and can change their mind. I feel surgery is for adults to decide .. it doesn’t hurt to wait a little bit..

If someone is addicted and that person is an adult, they should be able to buy them with no problem. We should also provide that person the means to stop smoking, but their right to have access to whatever they can afford should be sacred for our society to keep running smoothly.

I'm a physician in Ohio and my solo medical practice was forced closed by a divorce court. Around the same time as the closure of my solo practice the medical board of Ohio changed the rules stating that no physician could open a solo practice anymore. To the best of my knowledge I was the Last solo practice office around that had not been bought out by a hospital system. This is one of the reasons a lot of my patients came to me. LIke Mr. Peterson, I had never had any complaints against me, nor any lawsuits in the 20 years I practiced in Ohio. The issue is the solo practitioners are more likely to speak their mind as I frequently did about medical issues I did not agree with.
How the hell does A DIVORCE COURT force a medical clinic to close?? What jurisdiction do they have? You HAVE to sue. Please appeal your case to a higher court, for the good of all Americans!
The larger plan, in Ohio at least, is to remove physicians from front line patient contact and relegate them to a managerial role. Physicians are becoming too rare to maintain the model currently used by mega hospitals, so the plan is to use physicians assistants exclusively for patient facing care and have the physicians work part time to review the work and advise the front line. This will force doctors to work at several hospital systems and different locations every day. These big hospital systems are sick of dealing with doctors who think they know what's best for their patients just because they've working withntheir patients for years. What does a doctor know about individual care if they don't look at the balance sheets in an office building 15 miles away with no patients, right?
Canadian teacher here. I certainly have the same concerns in my own profession as you are facing with the college. It is harder than ever to present ideas and challenge thoughts and procedures while not putting your own job at risk. You are fighting for all of us who value freedom of thought and expression both in and out of government organizations. I'm behind you 100%. And you look so vital. What a triumph over adversity you are. Your courage and convictions bring me to tears and light a fire at the same time. Wishing you all the best. Become an independent practitioner outside of the system. Don't call yourself a psychologist. Call yourself something else like a "cognitive health consultant" or something that isn't regulated.

1. He often talks about patients issues on podcasts (although he doesn't name them), he tells stories about them and cites their issue to make an example of them. And he's famous enough that these patients would definitely know who he's talking about. 2. He would cancel appointments with patients for "being sick" meanwhile also making public appearances that same day on media (TV, RU-vid, Podcast). 3. He paused his clinical practices and teaching since 2018, and has not been practicing psychology for 5 years now. 4. He tells his patients on email autoreply that responsind to fanmail is more important than responding to them. He deserves more than just taking the course again, he shouldn't even have his license anymore. He's almost as bad as Dr Phil.

My own therapist gave up his license after being hounded by the same professional board for 8 years. All from one complaint. Never convinced but they hung it over his head for years and he said enough was enough. My Canada has become a mess under its current government and dogma.
JBP helped me up from rock bottom. I nearly drank myself to death during my 20's. I found him online before he blew up when he was giving the uni kids what-for for saying he allowed nazis on campus. He said," Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for." That literally helped save my life. I am now in my mid 30's, have a great job, married, and completely alcohol-free. Well , he “snapped out of it” (bs of psyc) , and is “bathing in the truth” (philosophy) . “Main stream science” almost killed him and his daughter. He’s alive because of his daughters Wisdom (not the medical field) , the medical field almost killed him with drugs .
3 qualities I admire about Joe's podcasts. 1) He allows his guest to share their knowledge. 2) He asks questions we would like to. 3) He is honest about not knowing which allows his guest to explain better so the rest of us sitting back saying Huh? stand a chance to understand.
Plus he (usually) picks his guests based on people and topics he's genuinely interested in and it shows. I cant remember individual episodes but in the rare instances whenever he's not interested that shows too.

As a fellow licensed healthcare professional, this situation is EXTREMELY concerning and should concern EVERYONE. Not just licensed healthcare professionals. The ontario college of psychologists is concerned about his opinions on climate change. Just let that sink in. Edit: clearly by reading some responses to my comment, some individuals have not listened to the entire podcast. Licensing boards punishing those who criticize their political leaders is NOT ok.
As a fellow licensed healthcare professional, this is no more concerning than the average expectations for any healthcare professional. I would likely be pulled in front of a disciplinary or licensing committee if I were to spurt out controversial political opinions to my patients, regardless of it's relevance to my actual clinical practice. Realistically, he's a global representative of the profession, and if he's going to tweet out comments about beauty standards and Elliot Page, it's going to naturally reflect on the profession as a whole, positively or negatively. I think having a nuanced perspective on Jordan Peterson is essential - it's concerning to see how much people will rationalise every single behaviour of his through the lens of him fighting the good fight - at the end of the day, I'm sure he's contributed a lot to people's lives, I'm sure he's wise and knowledgeable in many ways, but that doesn't mean he's infallible, and in these situations, we ought to reflect on that; that's not to say he's not an admirable person in many ways - if anything, fallibility emboldens his other messages in certain ways because it allows us to relate to him on a more personal level, rather than seeing him deified on a pedestal above us. Jordan said repeatedly in interviews that he'd respect the chosen names and pronouns of people if he were asked to, and that his issue with the Canadian bill that he originally opposed was more about freedom of speech than about the morality of respecting a person's request to be named as they chose. When he tweeted about Elliot Page, he demonstrated the complete opposite - Peterson refused to honour Elliot's request, and honestly embarrassed himself somewhat in the process, because even if he wanted to argue a legal point, rather than a moral one, Elliot's name was changed by law, and he still refused to acknowledge that. As I said, I'm all for supporting Peterson in certain ways, and I do think he's contributed a lot to the lives of so many people, but I think in situations like this, it's important to remember that your heroes make mistakes too, and it's important for Peterson to acknowledge his mistakes. Unfortunately, he's demonstrated a pretty consistent tendency to avoid taking responsibility for his own mistakes and instead externalising the accountability onto others - even when he developed a benzodiazepine addiction, which is an incredibly difficult and understandable issue, he made repeated excuses to avoid acknowledging that benzos helped him feel better and he became increasingly reliant on them physically and psychologically. That's not shameful - but I think it's unfortunately quite shameful to refuse to acknowledge it at all.
He is not a climate scientist. He's a psychiatrist. As Jay states above me, Peterson's opinions on climate science reflect poorly on his field. He is not doing himself any favours by pushing his own false climate science narrative when that's a field he has scant education in.

I worked with Dr. Peterson briefly when I was still in school, he was one of my best mentors and taught me a lot about the field. It's insane how they say he's a disgrace to the field when he has some of the sharpest clinical knowledge I've seen even amongst tenured professors. While I don't agree with him politically, I'm not willing to accept his credentials being slandered because that sets a dangerous precedent for any professional medical field. If he was not up to snuff and his knowledge and practice have degraded, fine, I wouldn't argue against that kind of charge if there was evidence for it, but this is nothing short of thought policing. I've been a part of a practice for 7 years in Alberta and his keen insight into behavioral patterns and social narratives have really been a cornerstone of my method and allowed me to make incredible progress with patients and give them the tools to lead better lives. "Social media coaching" is almost as hilarious as it is insulting to everyone looking to benefit from psychological help.
In 1980 I escaped from an Eastern European country and settled in the US. After a couple of years of living here I picked up the book “1984”. The memories, the anger, the feelings of despair and nightmares came back so vividly that to this day I was never able to pick up that book again….. but here we are it is becoming a reality here….

I am 6 weeks shy of my 75th birthday. Oh how I wish Jordan Peterson had been along and written many of his books when I was a teenager! My life would have been so much better and I would have been able to impart so much more wisdom to my 7 grown children! I discovered Jordan many years ago and immediately came to the conclusion that he was one of the most articulate, cogent spoken humans I have ever heard in my life. His perceptions of human behavior and their causes are the most liberating to the modern human species that exist in the secular world. Educate ALL people beginning early in life and the world condition would cease to degenerate as it has for many lifetimes.
I know you wish it was sooner, but maybe at the same time it's perfect timing for them to learn from Peterson. You can still guide them to get first hand knowledge for themselves, instead of second hand information. You can still plant the seed and put some water on it. Seasons and tme.

I don't agree with everything JP says,but I like him and he is a brilliant intellectual that can can speak intelligently on a broad range of subjects and topics. It seems to me because he is renowned and well known for speaking out on wokeness and the damaging effects it has on traditional values in modern day culture his opinions on Trudeau were taken the way they were because JP has such a following that I could see how his followers and the public could think he is aware of some things involving Trudeau based on his tweets about him that make his decision making process questionable and could make the public question his effectiveness as a leader. He is pretty young to be a PM.

I can’t believe anyone is surprised that an official board of doctors, in any field, doesn’t want someone known for focusing on personal opinions to be associated with their profession - one that’s supposed to rely on science & promise to focus on the mental health of patients. If he wants to be a famous & rich social media influencer, he can 100% do it - but unfortunately he can’t have it both ways. This is nothing more than an attack on integrity. Jordan improved my mental health so much. Listening to his lectures online and reading his books made me start crawling out of depths ive been for quite a while ... Still, im long way from where i want to be, but id never even start this self improving journey if it wasnt for him.
Jordan Peterson reminds me of my Grandfather who I respected immensely. Like my grandfather, I disagreed with a few things he would say but in the end, he made me a better human being and my children now benefit from his and Jordan Peterson's teachings.

Can i just say - I did an undergraduate degree in Psychology right... I had an exam coming up called Evolution of Behaviour and Cognition I was listening to loads of Jordan Peterson at the time, I got to the exam and there was a question that I hadn't studied for (from my £400 text books btw) I remembered something Peterson said on the subject and just wrote in my own words how he explained I think it was something to do with James Lange theory of emotion or something, i specifically remember using the words "low resolution" which is a very Peterson kind of phrase lol. Anyway, July comes, I get my results back - Evolution of Behaviour and Cognition ••• highest mark ••• everything else NOT even close. If this man is going to loose his licence i should probably give back my degree too.
I work for a regulatory body here in Australia that investigates complaints about psychologists. I can say that social media matters like these are mostly vexatious and causes harm mostly to the practitioners in terms of stress. You’ll get through it Jordan!

I went and saw this man speak in Durham NC it was so impressive to see how smart and well spoken he was. I hope he wins this outright wrong battle for something he worked so hard to achieve, and comes out on top. He seems like a caring human being who wants to help his patients and I wish him the best.

He explains the human condition in the most logical realistic way currently possible. As a USA psychologist (and ethicist) , I just cant believe that Jordan's National Board was able to sentence him to re-education for an indefinite period...and with no criterion. Is there some Wokeness or "sensitivity" course that offenders are required to take in other circumstances? Are prelicensure students required to meet certain woke criterion before graduation? My advice Jordan. 1. Make a complaint of bullying by the college against you. 2. If the college is duty bound to investigate, send a copy of the millions of positive comments, especially those who you have directly influenced them to become a better person. That should keep the college busy for years and I don’t see as any less important than comments made by anonymous people making complaints.
