I like watching this tag from different Booktubers, but yours was the best! You’re always fun to watch and I liked your dinner party guests. Good stuff! 📚📚

Awww, thanks! I had a good time making this video!

Fun tag! I loved the way you sort of cradled the two volumes of the anthology as you were explaining why it’s really one book that you NEED to have with you as if you were anticipating someone trying to take them away from you! 😆 I enjoyed your answers!

Thanks, Pat! Nobody's taking away my anthology!!!😄. I just used it to look up a couple of Dickinson poems even though I could just read them online.

I think it makes sense that when your audience is full of book lovers, it will be harder to find an obscure title. Love the answers to this tag.

True! But I did collect a couple of interesting titles in the comments.

Since we don't remotely have the same reading tastes, my obscure books are probably going to be even more obscure to you, but I always want more people to read: 1. Land of the Laughs by Jonathan Carroll 2. Things Invisible to See by Nancy Willard and 3. Little, Big by John Crowley. Great tag! Oh! And Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde which finally has a sequel!!

I haven't read any of these, but I have read a couple of other books by Jasper Fforde. Thanks for the suggestions; I'll check into them!

I agree, if a book is multiple volumes it still counts as one book!

Thank you for the fun video on Monday morning. You reminded me of what may be the longest novel I have ever read. It was An American Tragedy by Theodore Dreiser. I read a hardback from my library and want to say it came in at around 900 pages. I thought it was fascinating. Thanks again! 🌻

Well thank goodness you enjoyed it with a 900 page investment! Did you have to renew it a few times? Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video!
@constancecampbell4610

@@readandre-read I may have renewed. All I remember is being in its grip. The writing amped up in the final of the three sections. The narration grew breathless and so did I.

My obscure book that I recommend at the time, and actually got a Booktuber to read (though I may be the only one who watched his video on it) is The Diary of Helena Morely. It is the actual diary of a young girl from the end of the 19th century about her growing up in a rural Brazilian mining town and basically records her everyday life. It was loving translated into English by Elizabeth Bishop over three years. The woman grew up to be a prominent woman in Brazilian society and Bishop actually met and knew her. Upon arriving in Brazil she asked everyone which Brazilian book she needed to read and this was the one everyone said she had to check out.

I want to also be a flower because I realize I have no stories to contribute to those women! I would fit in better with the book lovers party that I scrapped. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I thoroughly support your decision not to read the books on your list of books you all never read, particularly Mailer

I enjoyed your answers to this tag. An "obscure" book of fiction for you and others: The Light People by Gordon Henry (a Native American author). For "obscure" poetry: anything by Pattiann Rogers or Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities (prose poetry).

Loving the books you're currently reading! Hopefully if you do pick up Bleak House again, you'll remember at least the main points to avoid having reread! 406 pages in! Wow! 11:08 - 🤣 And once you get tired of those books on a deserted island, you can clearly wear them.

I could make some clothes or build a hut, lol! Yes, Bleak House is a particularly annoying bail since I got so far. It sits there reproaching me.

Overthinking is a requirement for almost any tag video. Ha, one of my "obscure" recommendations just made the Atlantic's Great American Novels list, which is Machine Dreams by Jayne Anne Phillips. Even though it made that list, I imagine a lot of people were like, "Huh? What is this book? Where is To Kill a Mockingbird?" More recently, Mr. Splitfoot by Samantha Hunt, although it's one of those books everyone seemed to love at the time and then just disappeared. High five on Infinite Jest. "World War Two, blah dee blah dee blah." 😂
@readandre-read
@readandre-read 5 месяцев назад
I actually did read Machine Dreams, back in the 80s. I don't remember much. It was for a class in contemporary Am Lit and we were all blown away by Beloved. Every now and then I'm reminded of one of the other books from that class! My library has Mr. Splitfoot so I'll add that to my leaning tower of TBR! Thanks!
