The Musikantenstadl shows in Switzerland seem to be pretty cool actually. I Would love to visit there one day to drink and dance. The more you listen to folk music and yodeling, it grows on you.
A good compilation. Janet McBride is a personal friend, met Slim Whitman back in the 1980s when I was recording at Champ Studio, and met Kerry Christensen at a country music festival in LeMars, Iowa.
I know Janet too through the web I love her she even gave me her cell so I could call and has sent many cds. I love slims work so much. And Kerry is amazing
A few missing I like. English Yodeller Harry Torrani, Welsh Yodeller Harry Wulson. No lovely Melanie Oesch, Herlinde Lidner, Angela Wiedel, or the superb Australian singer/Yodeller, Shirley Thoms. There's even more than that, but what about the man who really started it all?? The Legendary Jimmie Rodgers!! Met Slim Whitman a few times after his shows here in the UK. Always great to talk to about singing/songs/yodelling etc. Met Boxcar Willie as well a couple of times. Another good Yodeller. All fab memories, and I still love em all!! Yodel-ay-ee-ee.
@@TheCornflake1 Melanie is certainly more melodic and its hard to put Takeo over her, but he deserves it out of seniority and being more theatrical as a performer.
Fab compilation, thx;o) Joyful, yet melacholic, such an underrated performance style imo! And versatile, usually goes with folk/country, but also well with Disney tunes (5:27), metal/electro (Takeo Ischl & Rudy Schneyder - Kirschblüten(cherry blossom) Jodler) or even classical (9: 23). Mary Schneider's Yodelling overtures I knew from a drag show, still one of my favs! And the comedic timing of Margo Smith f.e., while Johanna seems almost bored by her own talent;o) A couple for your consideration: - Taylor Ware (US, autodidactic also from tapes) - Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show (unexpected, triple yodel) - Francelle Maria & Mathieu Leger (Canada, inspired by Austria's Oesch's die Dritten) - Sramli Kings (Hungary, "Apres Ski" Pop Yodel) - The Topp Twins (NZ, fun gals) - Angela Wiedl, Margot & Maria Hellwig (german, RIP Maria) - Laura Downing (US, He & They taught me yodel) - Juaner Dominguez (Spain, awesome energy) - Ilinca & Alex Florea (Romania, Eurovision Finale 2017, stupid fun;o) ) But the funniest one's imo are Yodeling fool (Wylie and the Wild West, f'd by YAHOOOOO), Hillbilly Leprechauns (Ethel Delaney (Karroll Sisters) and Takeo Ischl's Bibi Hendl (chicken yodel) mashed up with Gangnam Style, hilarious! (Also... further out there: Mal Webb's Sideways Yodeling, Loriot's (german comedian) Jodelschule and An engineer's guide to cat yodelling^^) Pfüati and cheerioo!
I love Yodeling very much. I can yodel myself. It's very beautiful and I learned to yodel as a teenager. I learned it just by listening to an old country western cassette tape. I don't know the name of the artist, but I do know he did sing one of the songs that was on the video. Chime bells a ringin. The guy that sang the song in the video was not the guy on the tape, but if I ever hear that voice again, I will dang well try and record it and find out if he's on RU-vid. I'll surely get him recorded for myself. I love German folk music. It's absolutely wonderful! Where did you get these videos? Do you have German cds? Did you get some of these songs from one or two of them? However you made this video, you did a very good job! I have videos of myself on RU-vid. You can Check them out sometime if you want. Just type in Matthew Meno, and my songs will be there. Thanks again for the wonderful video! God be with you, and stay safe. My prayers are going out to you, and I'm hoping you're keeping Covid 19 free. Bye bye!
@@matthewmeno5279 I checked out the song and its a nice ballad. I saw that title when I checked out his channel but there was no indication that it was a yodeling song, hence my initial comment.
@@Rams3040 When a girl really loves a man she cannot help it. Besides, Jesus ain't just any other old dude. Bible says he REIGNS ON THE THRONE OF GOD sitting at the right hand of his Father. It says that His voice is mighty and majestic, his head and his hair are shining and white like the sun upon snow, his legs are like burnished brass and his eyes burn like coals of fire. Sounds much hotter than any dude you know. That Jewish carpenters son was just his disguise he wore here on Earth so he could fulfill his great mission to salvage every soul who will trust in him even in his humble earthly attire It says He will give her a crown of eternal life. A heavenly chain on her neck with a precious stone and on that stone is a name written and only known to the Lord himself and the one who wears that chain. She does well to love Jesus. Beware lest you yourself wake up one day with the devil in your bed. That is what can happen when you mock the love of God. We pray you continue growing in your faith and friendship with the One who created you. He cares for each of us and WANTS to save us because he IS LOVE ITSELF.
