For two month, the Kpop World has been a mess. I put this video off for about two months but I wanted to talk about the untalked things about the Kpop industry. This video will contain and hit the points that aren’t really talked about. From plastic surgery, chart booms, army issues, leaving a group, privacy issues, outdated marketing strategies, the ongoing struggles between a artist and a company. Thanks for showing a lot of love and support for Idol Insider.

Honestly a lot of foreign kpop fans think like “Korea is perfect and the men there are perfect etc..” but Korea is just like any country. Also Koreans tend to live separate lives from what they show to the people and then what they do behind doors. Like there night and day life are really different. Humans are humans
@joshuaroger8364

when I see some of these comments it just makes you think if some of these people are stupid or just young
@oliverhughes610
@oliverhughes610 5 лет назад
@@joshuaroger8364 They can be both; the two are not necessarily connected. I've seen great maturity from young fans and mind numbing stupidity from older fans. Howver, I don't think it is a common attitude at all to think that Korea is perfect or that its men are perfect; comments to that degree are largely hyperbolic rather than completely sincere. Most people are aware that there is the side of the industry presented to us and the human nature of the people within it that lies underneath. I would, however, contest the statement that Korea is "just like any country" that the OP made - I find Korea to be particularly unique. Of course Koreans are human beings like anyone else but there is a spirit about their nation that is quite unlike any other I have experienced first hand, and I've visited close to 50 countries around the world. Culture is inexorably part of the nation; it is their shield, the coat of arms upon it. Many of us on the outside do not fully understand or appreciate it and view it more as a commodity, as Kpop itself is just that - a commercial export. I just hope that as people continue to grow, whether in age or intellect or maturity, they will further develop their understanding of what makes Korea and Koreans who they are as well as that there is a reality they are not privy to.

I remember when I moved to Korea last year (only for a few months because I had to work there) and people would compliment me for my nose and my eyes .And some women and men came to me and said "oh you're so pretty". They were also really welcoming and I made some good friends. But I always felt like a lot of it was pretty ... Superficial(?) Like the relationships didn't go that deep at all. Even though I speak Korean, so there was not really a language barrier. I wish Korea wouldn't put so much into being pretty or whatever. :/

could you do a video on idol bans? like social media bans, being banned from apologizing, banned from talking to fans, etc? a lot of kpop fans, especially on twitter, constantly debate on whether or not idols have bans and whether or not idols should be held accountable if they don’t/can’t apologize after doing something ignorant. thank you💓

Next idol insider: about the companionship/closeness between memebers? I'm really curious about that, since the moment the members are still togehter in a group, they really seme close, like family and seem inseperable, but once they disband, that closeness seem to dissapear instantly, like it never existed? I do get that the clossenes reduces, since you won't be with each other twenty for seven. But sometimes it just seems that the closeness they showed before were all like just show? So I'm really curious about that.

When it comes to downsides of Kpop I always think about this one interview with Lovelyz I read sometime last year. The members said that since debut, the only "free time" they have is when they go to the hospital. They go there almost every day, because every single member has health issues due to their work. In that same interview, they also said that they didn't have any income yet. Just the thought of working 24/7 to the point where it ruins your body and not even getting any money for it infuriates me.

I think because idols spend many years being severely controlled, when companies give them freedom many artists don’t know what to do because they are used to being controlled. So they don’t know how to use that freedom and fall for the wrong things. I do NOT defend anyone. Idols who are involved in any scandal should be prosecuted and punished according to what they have done

SNSD being my favorite group ever comes to mind with this kind of situation. Also Christine: Dream crusher ;) Something I would love to see is something you mention here at the end. I always wondered, why korean society and the kpop scene would never admit that someone/some idol is gay BUT at the same time, play the ''BROMANCE'' card REALLY hard on TV shows that idols are filming
@NamiNuitsuki
@NamiNuitsuki 5 лет назад
it's because it's a VERY controversial subject that people prefer not to bring up. The bromance is for fangirls because when 2 dudes look like they're into each other fangirls think it's hot, they will ship it, and they will bring more fans into the group = more money. It's all business. Also, with bromance, it's never taken seriously. It's a "funny" thing and isn't at all like the topic of actual romance between same-sex idols. Notice also how more guy idols do this than girls (because teen girls are more into it and bring more attention to it like how yaoi is garnered towards teen girls as well). Hope that makes sense.

I’m really glad you addressed the dark side of the kpop industry! Honestly I’ve been stanning many groups since 3 years ago and i have noticed kpop is so much more behind the scenes and everything we see is not even the tiniest bit the artists have gone through! I actually really hope fans and the general public can embrace the hardships of an idol and i really hope companies can give idols the right amount of freedom. Sometimes i really hope idols can truthfully talk about their hardships and fans can really support them, let them know they’re not alone, fans are always here to support... 😞✊🏻

@ciarityjisoo4939
@ciarityjisoo4939 5 лет назад
especially female idols no matter if they're in a girl group or if they're soloists are often not allowed to write or produce/compose their own songs and if they are allowed to then they usually only contribute a small part of the final song but barely enough to be mentioned in the credits because men are simply being favored in the industry and they usually get the company more money so many companies just underestimate their girl groups talents when it comes to making their own music

When you were an idol, how was the situation with visiting and seeing your family?? Was it difficult to not be in contact with them?

That sudden boom makes me think of Brave Girls "Rollin." Could that be an example? 🤔 Go Brave Girls for topping the charts!!

Brave Girls situation is because of a viral video of their performance in the army. Typically like EXID Hani's fancam. Their song is several years old, so they won't bribe people for an old song.

Do you think there is a disproportionately large amount of idols coming from better off/richer families? Do you happen to have an idea as to how their parents could have allowed them to go through with it? I mean, idols are idealized but surely parents would be sceptical enough (if only because they want their kids to take those typical professional jobs) to have disapproved and kept them from taking it.

How do idols feel about sasaengs, or general lack of privacy? It happens a lot when idols are crowded at airports, sometimes followed to their hotels, chased, etc not only in Korea but while traveling overseas as well. We hear a lot that idols are grateful for their fans etc and I dont doubt that's true, however how do they feel having to say that all the time when they get mistreated like that by a certain portion of their fans?

I have been curious about what do idols do with the hell lot of clothes and accessories that they buy for promotion and MV's.. Do they sell it back or keep for personal use?
@diamondthrust2019

Every clothe and accessories they wear during shoots, promotion, concert is on rent. Their company buy these clothes on rent and then return them once done using.

as much as we hate seeing our favorite artists on a leash, a lot of what we've been seeing lately are great reminders of how important it is for companies to have a greater degree of control of their artists' personal lives and business endeavors. seungri, yoochun, junghun, jjy, even minhwan and yulhee, are all examples of how freedom, coupled with a lack of guidance, could spell the end for a prominent or promising career. you have to remember that while these artists are people to you, they are assets to a corporation. assets that have an effect on bottom line profit and shareholder confidence. the effect seungri's scandal has had on YG's stock and public reputation, is exactly what CEO's and managers have in mind when they run a tight ship. the counter-argument is, of course, that these few examples don't outnumber the many examples of artists who do just fine on their own. and that's a great thought to escape to, given how stressful all of this has been. but find me one CEO or manager who, after witnessing all this, still thinks it isn't important to keep a sharp eye on their artists, at the risk of a category 5 career disaster. the unfortunate truth is, sometimes when people are left to their own devices, they fuck up big time.
@user-vv6zl1if7q
@user-vv6zl1if7q 5 лет назад
Counter argument: when people are so sheltered (example idols) once they left the industry and they face difficult situations they wont know how to handle it because someone is handling it for them which increases the chance of them fucking up bigger time.

Minwhan and yulhee? Im sorry but in ft island minwhan is not that imoortant the heart and soul of that group is hongki and yulhee? Cmon laboum was not popular when she's there and they are still not popular after she left so she does not matter.
@user-vv6zl1if7q
@user-vv6zl1if7q 5 лет назад
Yoochun? Sure jyj is a popular group but does it really hurt cjes entertainment that much? Because even without jyj you still have gummy, choi min sik, chae si ra and hong jong hyun as cash cows so the scandal does not really hurt the company.

"Prominent or promising career" Hey idiot laboum did not have a promising career so in yulhee's case it was better for her to leave since her fomer group wont win daesang awards anyways

Is it a collaborative decision between the group and the kpop record label who the group signs with for overseas promotions? (BP for example in the states). What happens when that overseas label has a 180 degree different view on the vision and branding than the original kpop label?
