You're like me in the way you think. According to this post, you also write longer messages. And that is okay. My messages can be very long, and it used to bother me that people would get so upset by them. Then, one day, I realized while I was reading The Art of War that people don't really like long messages because they have short attention spans. Most people want two or three sentences at most. However, in two or three sentences, maybe we can get the message out, and sometimes, it works. However there is something to be said when people like you and I who write very long messages are from the old school we think differently we want our message out and yes sometimes it seems like we're rambling on but we're really not we're with the ability to put our thoughts out and that is discomfort for others. So when I read comments about my messages being too long I studied those messages a little bit more and realized, but I'm on the right track, and that tells me more than someone with two sentences. 😂

I was a JW for about a year and a half before I decided to explore the history of the organization so I would be knowledgeable about the "one true religion". I called them out on all of the false prophecies, doctrine and dogmatic teachings they had and I disassociated. Every seeming "conflict" or "contradiction" is settled within the Bible itself, it's simply a matter of further study. Your comment is relevant. I personally, love Buddhism. I love the teachings of the Buddha. For a while I was tempted to convert to Buddhism. I could have chosen that path. It was very tempting. But I was trying to figure out truth. The truth of reality. I can't say I know it but I do know it is not religion. None of them. None of them are provable. None of them are founded in facts or have evidence of their existence. We want to get a grip on our reality so we try to create a reality. But it always comes from our imagination and fears. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to rely on what we do know. The facts. Evidence. Religion evennat its most harmless is not only not needed but dangerous. Look at the US and the continuous rise of Christian nationalism. People worshipping Trump. There are thousands of religions. And in some thousands of sects. Why? None of them are true. Yet each thinks their version is true. Each person lives their own version. We need to stick to reality. What we know is true. Facts. Religion distorts us as it is based in our fears. He was a legend in his time so we take our kids to the place where he had the accident and explain to them his story. Most scholars religious or secular, agree that the council of Nicea didn't decide what was canon and there is no reliable evidence to show otherwise. The jews will not tell you that there is no connection between their writings and a messiah. They absolutely believe in the messiah cause the old testament speaks to it...They just don't believe Jesus is the messiah. As far as the the Bible copying other ancient text...That's not true ! Are there some similarities yes but they are far and few between. There are way more differences than similarities and the main one being that the bible was the only ancient text that was monotheistic from its inception. The bible, once you get past a few similarities is nothing like any of the other ancient texts in history... Its the ancient text with the most manuscripts compared to any other ancient text. It's the ancient text that is dated the closest to the time period it was derived... This means that the farther away the written text is from the original oral tradition of the period, the less accurate it is. So, the Bible's manuscripts is more accurate than the other ancient texts you mentioned. So don't let some similarities deter you from seeing how drastically different it is from any other ancient text.

I was a member of a conservative Christian church (the churches of Christ) for over 20 years before leaving, but never believed in intelligent design. I assume that by intelligent design, you're referring to the specific idea articulated by people like James Tour, Michael Behe, and Steven Miller, and not a broader concept that involves a belief that a divine creator created the world. Forgive me if I'm wrong in assuming that. I used to believe in young earth creation, then I moved on to old earth creation, then I embraced a fully naturalistic explanation for the origin of the universe, earth, and life that does not include a creator god, either personal or impersonal.

Eventually I realised that some of the 'sources' were highly questionable, and much of what was presented was prefaced with terms like: 'many historians claim', or, 'it's now thought that....' It's rather like accepting everything that the media spouts oblivious of the mere notion of spin. Check everything you watch/read and then some. To be entirely convinced by a cleverish hypothesis is unwise.

There is no direct Bible verse that states Adam and Eve, or any other human being, has ever seen God. There is a direct Bible text that states No man has ever seen God. "No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son which is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." John 1:18.

It was a good documentary. Better than any I've seen so far. He did alot of research to do so well. I'm going to get that book he recommends by that professor he quoted and referenced so many times. I bet it's a fantastic read. My point was that God, the real God, and all that we need to know about him at this time is found on a spiritual plane in our hearts. At least that is how I found him. I didn't then or now care about what he looks like. Moses wanted to see him but God told him he couldn't look upon him and live. So he hid him in the cleft of a rock and passed by letting him see his backside as he passed and just that turned Mose's hair pure snow white.
